Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Where did these Gifs come from??

I watched the trailer like 10 times and I don't recognize them :(

was the trailer that fast??

The trailer! Hahaha, it's a very fast montage.

Sorry if this has been discussed, but notice how enemies get stunned in place for a few frames when hit? Has this been in previous games or is it a new mechanic?

Wario
Meta Knight
Pit
Zero Suit Samus
Snake

Villager
Rosalina & Luma
Little Mac
Wii Fit Trainer
Mega Man

I’ve got to be honest — on the whole, I like SSB4’s first five newcomers a lot more than Brawl’s.
It's not really fair to the Brawl newcomers to be compared with the first 4 SSB4 newcomers.

The SSB4 trailers have been much better at showing gameplay instead of just CG showing off the character very well.

The pause thing was in Brawl for meteor smashes.

How can he hold items when he's wearing boxing gloves.

He wears the same gloves as Dudley.

I can't really say if Brawl's first 5 or Smash 4's first 5 appeals to me more without having played anyone from Smash 4. Wario, Meta Knight, Pit, and Snake were all characters I was very excited to play as, yet none of them really did much for me when I got the game. They aren't bad characters but when me and my mates gather round for a few hours of Brawl they usually end up later in the night around match 15-20 when I'm running out of characters I enjoy playing.

Since the thread is moving very fast so I'm going to repost my post.

Alright I'm going to post what I'm seeing from the trailer.

1. Do Little Mac's speed look fast as if it's melee speed? It seem so fast for me when I watched the trailer.

2. I think he might have combo mechanism which would allow him to make few different moves from one special attack I noticed that he have two running attack so I wonder if he can use running + Side B or so.

3. I like how they are going to reuse Punch Out Wii U stage for 3DS stage since he don't have any game on handheld if I remembered correctly.

4. Look like you have to hold CHARGE for Instant KO, instead of building up bar. I would rather to building up the bar over charging for instant ko.

1. Yeah man! He seems to be the very quick, very aggressive character that could fit into Melee if he were in that game. Judging by all the gameplay we've seen thus far it looks like Sakurai's words of making the game speed feel overall like Melee and Brawl are standing.

2. After staring at the trailer several times I'm beginning to think that too. I cannot wait for the slew of PotD breaking down how he plays.

3. I'm pretty excited for this. This stage is looking to be the first walk-off stage that will see heavy play that's not Final Destination.

Well, not in smash tourney play but items off play with friends :P

4. Some others have mentioned this before but if it's similar to the Punch-out games then he may build meter on how he strings his combos together, but will lose some meter when he gets combo'd himself. Definitely the definition of high-risk/high-reward.

I haven't been this hype for Smash 4 trailer since the E3 one for Megaman. I really, REALLY hope at least one of these versions comes out during the summer.

---

That E3 leak is looking all the more true with Little Mac officially being revealed. Seeing how friggin beast they made Little Mac I have full confidence they'll pimp out Pac-man and Miis in the game.

Sorry for the long post, but that's what happens when GAF goes down after a while lol

I wonder how this move works...

ibcRNr9hm1xkQE.gif

After it zooms in, the gameplay speeds up while he builds meter through what is presumed to be aggressive gameplay. After he's charged a full meter it zooms out, showing him unleashing a fully-charged neutral-B.

Gonna post this again because I'm curious about what others might think:

Are these the same moves?

My theory is that the first image is ground side-B, and the second is aerial side-B, but with the second gif it's now harder for me to believe he jumps immediately before triggering the side-B.

In that case, what is the first gif's attack? It's too quick to have been a counter (it didn't make the noise for the counter in the trailer either), his neutral-B attacks appear to be straight punches until the OHKO, and it looks like side-B always make him hop.

Little Mac is gonna be a character who can either chip away at you, dodging and countering all your attacks, or take a few hits to land some really meaty attacks.

The first AT to go pro and I'm totally OK with this. Been calling for it since before Brawl.

I wonder if Barabara, Jill or Isaac are next.
Never Waluigi...never.

It's hard to tell, but it looks like Little Mac's fist glows blue as soon as he leaves the ground in the second GIF, leading me to believe it's just his regular side B and that the "jump" is a part of the animation itself.

B - charge punch (turns into a one-hit KO uppercut with the meter maxed out)
Side B - jumping dodge punch
Up B - corkscrew uppercut
Down B - counter punch

That's what I think, anyway.

The trailer makes it look like Little Mac's Neutral-B punch can be charged just by charging in place. I wouldn't be surprised if both were an option, much like how you can charge Ivysaur's Solarbeam in PM by hitting with certain moves or just holding down Synthesis.

The first gif's attack looks like it's just a forward smash to me, and since we already know Little Mac gets some nice super armor on some of his attacks...

Cross-post from the other thread, but in case anyone needed more hard evidence that the ring was indeed a Punch-Out stage, here's another comparison shot of the Smash-generalized ring compared to the one in the trailer adorned with the Punch-Out World Circuit and WVBA logos. Wonder if they will alternate?

Also the led light sign in the background now reads Punch-Out instead of SMASH BROS.

He's fast as fuck.

This move looks so cool.

Best thing to come out the whole direct, when I saw that I was like, <<yes I've decided, he'll be my main>>

My personal hype ranking for the newcomers:

5. Wii Fit Trainer
4. Villager
3,5. Palutena #teamreal
3. Mega Man
2. Rosalina
1. Little Mac
0. Ridley!

Its hard to tell honeslty, I think mac is a ver yspecial case where he has way more movepools than everyone else since he is a boxer and is actually unorthadox in that regard when it comes to smash so he might do different results at the end of combos etc. wit hslight upwards or downward tilts.

I guess fsmash seems the most likely. I don't think it's neutral-B just because you can see that the move is typically a straight-punch in other parts of the trailer (he uses it on Bowser early in the trailer, and charges it up more later when Doc yells STRAIGHT!). My theory is that it's only an uppercut when it's a OHKO, shown at the end of the trailer.

However it doesn't have much knockback (even at low percents), and hits straight upward, and both of those properties seem odd for a forward smash attack.

I think the first one is his dash attack, second one is his side b

If he had to trigger a dash he would've got hit by Link. Not to mention his dash attack is shown elsewhere in the trailer when he dashes under two Mario fireballs and then hits him with a dash attack.

With what you're suggesting though that would mean his side b was literally a copy of Captain Falcons

Captain Falcon cut from Smash 4 spread rumor

Yeah, Leaks look like to be real. I can't wait to see how they played as.

I agreed with almost all of your posts. I'm hyped, and I want to see more. Hahaha

Little Mac's dash is incredible. It's low and extremely fast.

I just wonder if it's low enough to go under the space animals' lasers. I kinda doubt it, though.

Just realized this is the first time we've had a character reveal where I am genuinely excited for the inevitable week-long string of photos dedicated to them.

Bring on the Mac.

WTF... I missed the trailer for Little Mac during the direct because I couldn't get the stream to work. NOW I find out about it. I'm so pissed I could... punch something.
