Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I didn't so much have a wishlist for Smash Bros 4 before all these threads. It's mostly just developing based on what characters would be the most interesting fighters.

It's why I would really like Takamaru; a Samurai who wields shurikens and also has the power of fire, lightning and invisibility. He could be very quick, albeit quite weak (having to rely on magic to KO and his katana for damage dealing).

I'd love for Mewtwo to return because I loved his moveset in Melee (that up-throw...), and I've said a few times that I believe the Pokémon representatives are usually the most unique (Pikachu, Jigglypuff and Lucario are just miles apart in playstyle), so I'd love for more of them, like Blaziken or Greninja for an example.

Palutena really does need to happen, and there's so much to go from now that Kid Icarus: Uprising exists. The stage with the Palutena statue actually gave me hope more than anything else.

Oh, and after seeing some Custom Robo designs and fighters... um, yes please. I'd love Ray in this.

My roster prediction.

I REALLY don't see Wonder Red being in the game. Probably not Ghirahim either. And Ridley is still too big. Other than that, it looks pretty much like my list.

They'd be insane not to use Wonder Red as a character. Viewtiful Joe is awesome in fighting games and his moveset would be somewhat similar to wonder reds.

I'm not going to deny that he would be an awesome character, but I don't think he's prominent enough for Nintendo. The Wonderful 101 will probably never see a sequel and the game itself is not popular enough to warrant a character.

Earthbound and Iceclimbers in the light of things are not very popular either but they're more than likely still going to be in.

Although my main want is one of the female wars characters to get in <3

Wonder red is a character sakurai either has to be really creative with, or he just wont work, the point of wonder red is that he is fighting with 99 other people, or else you lose what makes him special in the first place.

I'm pretty sure "historical" Nintendo chars who aren't super popular still have much higher priority than recent unpopular characters.

Foreman Spike and Urban Champion. Takamaru is only relevant in Nintendoland whereas every retro callback from Nintendo stars these classics.

Isn't Itoi a very famous philosopher in japan. I dunno them being in the game might be a cool thing for japan for multiple reasons.

I don't see Ghirahim being in. If they wanted to add a new Zelda character, I could see them going with someone from ALBW more than SS.

Ravio with a selection of his different items for his smash moves or something.

Demise yes, Giriham no.
Demise for story reasons, at least as some type of boss.

But Giriham like that dude from the minish cap is going to be in one thing and never be seen again, thats why.

Vaati's got better odds than Ghirahim. He was in three games (Minish Cap, Four Swords, Four Swords adventures)

Giriham is more like Zant. I remember when people actually wanted him for Brawl.

Couldn't agree more.
I could definitely go for a few rounds with him in the ring, wink-wink.

the best part about punch out is that the story is so sparse no one can really tell me he wouldn't swing that way

At least with the little twist at the end of SS they didn't assassinate Girahim's character to the degree that the Ganon reveal for Zant did.

I don't think people should use evidence of one character already in Smash as an argument for other characters. Basically, no cases are going to be the same. Everything is circumstantial.

Takamaru is also in Samurai Warriors 3 right? That's what makes me think he has a chance.

Someone mentioned a music based character a couple pages back, I still say an electroplankton rep would be cool

Also, I still want Bowser Jr. in too. 6 reps aren't too much for Mario.

I really am hoping that Wii Fit Trainer isn't the only "out there" character choice. Brawl was really lacking in that department - R.O.B. was really the only one and even he was discussed a lot beforehand. With Melee you've got G&W, Ice Climbers, Roy, Dr. Mario... all super weird choices.

I do want to see some of the "obvious" newcomers join, like Ridley and Palutena and Takamaru, but I'm hoping there are some underdog choices being made too. Some random Fire Emblem character like Hector or Nabarl. Anthony Higgs or Adam Malkovich. Urban Champion, Starman, Mike Jones. Fucking Cranky Kong. I think the only thing that would disappoint me is a lack of a jaw-dropper in there somewhere.

What if they put both characters as one playable one?
since that actually works plot wise

What Wii game do you think I should I tackle next from this list SmashGAF?

Donkey Kong Country Returns
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Metroid: Other M
Xenoblade
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

I'm trying to get through my backlog in anticipation for this game and I have all those sitting in my shelf right now. My goal is to get through all of them before this game comes out. I want to play Xenoblade, but my time is limited right now due to school, but if it's that good, I'll gladly play it even if the experience is a bit fragmented for a couple of months.

I figure this would be the best place to ask because I assume most of you guys are all caught up with your Nintento games :)

Start Xenoblade soon as you finish finals. I'd say Skyward or DK now and then fire Emblem. MOM you can throw in whenever. It's not terribly long.

If the Mother characters can be a combination of the movesets of different characters in order to provide a more workable Smash moveset, there's no reason why Wonder Red couldn't use some attacks from the rest of the team in a solo slot.

I mean, I don't think that he's prominent enough to merit a slot, but we do have precedent here.

You know which retro character I never see mentioned despite not being from a forgotten title (i.e. one that does appear in games that reference Nintendo of old unlike say StarTropics) - Bubbles from Clu Clu Land. Bonus, Bubbles is female so it ups the sister count.

Her final smash would be to irritate everyone with Clu Clu Lands controls!

The characters who don't have an easy potential moveset interest me the most. Bubbles (and Excitebiker) are so limited that the team would have to draw from other factors creating something entirely new/crazy.

So I had a dream last night that at E3 Mewtwo was revealed. It stood more upright than in Melee and the aerials were completely different but the specials were the same.

but then the VA was like the the feminine one from the latest pokemon movie and I instantly woke up lol.

I'm really hoping the next newcomer is a surprise that no one is expecting. It seems a lot of people are gravitating to the same realistic newcomers in their predictions lists (Mii, Pac Man, Shulk, new FE character, Isaac, Saki, Dixie, Ridley, K Rool, Takamaru, Bowser Jr, Waluigi) some of these I don't see happening (Waluigi and K Rool) but it seems like most Smash GAF predicting a collection of these characters

Well off the top of my head potential moves for Bubbles include
  • Shoot her beam to either stun or damage
  • Spin on the spot
  • Bounce off of a pink line of elastic
  • Chuck the golden Ingots?
  • Dodging would act like her spinning around a pin and throws would be similar except the opponents acts like the pin.

I mean I suppose if someone really put some thought into it one could come up with a moveset based around spinning and dodging around an opponent to reflect the gameplay of Clu Clu Land but it's certainly not an easy task.

I would rather to save those surprise newcomers for unlockable characters, just get same feeling that I had for Marth and Mewtwo.

I would rather just have everyone at the start, in every Smash game I just look up how to unlock every character and stage and just rush to that. The novelty of who the "final character" is only exists on paper. Combined with the way newcomers get these hype as hell trailers and I'd be okay with all the newcomers being revealed via directs before launch.

I'm the opposite. I feel like out of the 5 newcomers, only Mega Man and Little Mac were "predictable" characters. (though Villager was just misdirection pertaining to AC characters from Brawl) Mii and Pac Man are also getting more attention due to the rumor because I think the former especially would have been a surprise character.

Not really, miis have been popping up playable in lots of Nintendo games and have been in more games then characters from several franchises in this series.

Pacman as well isn't much of a surprise as soon as it was announced Namco Bandai Namco was helping to develop Smash 4 it was one of those things everyone started speculating

Oh my goodness, I wish Issac and Saki counted as realistic newcomers. They definitely rate more as shared hopes/dreams than shared preditictions.

Little Mac just became playable after being an Assist Trophy, Isaac and Saki were previously AT as well. All 3 got a new game in their franchise after Brawl was released.

Wishlists before anyone was revealed? Top spot is for both Ridley and Mega Man, but I'll just list everything else in an order.

1. Ridley
2. Mega Man
3. Ganondorf with a new moveset
4. Shulk
5. Palutena
6. Dixie Kong (no partner stuff)
7. Mewtwo
8. Little Mac (I only wanted him cause people were saying he is just a boxer, boy do those people feel stupid now lol)
9. Tetra
10. Blaziken or Dark Samus

Last 2 I put just cause I wanted to list 10 characters lol.

Let's see, the ten newcomers I wanted most before anyone was revealed...

1. Mega Man
2. Rosalina
3. Krystal
4. Shulk
5. Sumia (or Tharja, or another female FE character that's not a Marth clone)
6. Dixie Kong
7. 9-Volt
8. Ridley
9. Little Mac
10. Wart

After Little Mac's reveal:

1. Krystal
2. Shulk
3. Sumia (or Tharja, another female FE character that's not a Marth clone)
4. Dixie Kong
5. 9-Volt
6. Ridley
7. Wart

This is just including "realistic" picks. If we're including fantasy/never-gonna-happen picks, I'd have Sora at #2 (pre-Mega Man) and #1 (post-Mega Man).

Either way I can't complain about absolutely anything, I already got Mega Man and Rosalina!

Everything is fine but the female voice actor. Bring back the OG and I'm good.

I think they are the most likely from the Brawl ATs at least. Followed by maybe Waluigi I guess.

I really want Saki, then we could get a sweet S&P stage with music.
