Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I don't know if this has been said already but I hope that changing Samus' armor to the Other M variation means she'll be a tad more mobile or faster than previous iterations.

If only because in Other M she ran like a deranged chimpanzee in practically every cutscene.

"Leave it to me!"

But yeah, I don't think him being a stage hazard is mutually exclusive with him being playable. I just don't think him being playable is likely, and showing up on a stage doesn't really help his case. Expect the worst and hope for the best, y'know.
 
I still don't see how being mentioned on the stage precludes his inclusion. You can just as easily read it as "Wow, the Pyrosphere! It's just like the game! So true-to-the-source that it feels like that boss battle with Ridley is about to happen!"
 
There's like, three different versions of Ridley and the one in Other M is a clone.

They could easily put the original Ridley or Meta Ridley as a playable character without any issues and still have a stage hazard.

Why does Little Mac have black gunk under his shirt? They couldn't be bothered to make sure Little Mac didn't look like he had a disembodied head?

I took that as a shirt that wasn't cut very cleanly, but even then it looks pretty unconvincing. Hopefully it gets removed or polished out in future pics.
 
It's a shortcut to provide the illusion of self-shadowing. Probably looks much better at range than it does in these close ups.

They probably extended the shirt through the neck so that you can't see through the polygons, thus his neck is clipping into it. Not too big a deal IMO

Japanese translation refers to it as a trauma.

The stretching is also happening here too I guess. "They could use a different Ridley", "The stage hazard just won't exist and he'll be playable!" Toon Link isn't even a hazard, he is a npc background character.

This is exactly what I've been thinking. It really irritates me since there's hundreds of other talented people working on the game besides the producer. He'll have an executive decision but he didn't craft everything from his own bare (albeit strained) hands.
 
Sakurai is a man who has done the following:

- Revealed Toon Link first as a background character, then as playable, noting that when being played Alfonso will take his place in the background.

- Created a decoy boxing ring stage just to keep everyone from figuring out about the real Punch Out!! stage.

- Posted a pic of Palutena statue watching over a stage mere days after a rumored leak exposed her as possibly playable.

The man's a troll. I absolutely do not take the original Pyrosphere comment as an indicator that Ridley is a stage hazard. If anything, it seems to make me think that Sakurai is trolling as per usual and misdirecting us.

But that's just what I think.

Is Sakurai trolling the people who don't think Ridley will get in? Or is he trolling the Ridley fans who think he's trolling the other guys? Perhaps he's trolling everyone and Smash 4 is really just a facade for his real project, Meteos x Kirby Air Ride exclusively for Wii U. The world may never know.
 
I just hope that we haven't seen all of the Really Crazy Newcomers yet. The problem with having so many roster predictions is that it means a lot of Newcomers lose some of their hype just because they become expected. Little Mac was that way for me - I love him, but I really expected him to be in so it wasn't as big of a deal.

Ridley is one of the few characters that isn't from a new franchise that could really get me Super Hyped right now. So I hope that we still have several characters from franchises without reps - excluding Pac-Man and Mii, which are both pretty obvious inclusions. Crossing my fingers for characters like Rhythm Monkey, Shulk, Wonder Red, some off-the-wall retro rep...

Yeah, he could be announced during MK8 release date, but if he didn't revealed for starter roster then I would expect him to have Dixie on his side which would gave them the reason to became unlockable character.

I agree completely. I don't know what is going to happen ultimately but Sakurai enjoys trolling and being cryptic. I think Ridley has decent chances at this point.

we don't know if he would be a hazard, though, do we? Could be just like Shadow Moses where the Metal Gears just show up and look around. Its dynamic, but purely cosmetic and easily replaced or even turned off if Ridley was selected.

Maybe the shirt looks like that because it's easier to remove it for the shirtless boxing alt costume! :) (I really don't know it could be 3D model mumbo jumbo on that)

Hope they fix it because it really looks weird uo close.

Oh god! I really want them to put this stage in Smash 4. I can only imagine how amazing it would be.

Edit: If the stage comes back, the rest area music from melee needs to play in it.
