Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Actual gameplay updates are pretty high on my appreciation list. It's always kinda cool to learn more about the changes aside from pure content.

Yeah, I know the update was late but some of the disappointment is baffling. Sometimes it feels like some people post about how disappointed they are every day.

What could be Little Mac's finisher:

Yeah, this was a good update. Any updates involving changes or improvements to mechanics is a winner in my book. I'm liking the gameplay adjustments they're making for this.

Pit's side B got changed to that knuckle weapon from Uprising as well didn't it?

Maybe Sakurai's gonna change every infinite move.

You mean this one? I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that that as his new side smash. In any case, I really hope his side B is something different from Brawl, that endless spin was kind of... I didn't like it.

You need to get in smash gaf IRC so we can set up some 1 vs 1 but private message could be sufficient enough.

i have no idea about the IRC thing, but yeah private message its fine. I will pm you later for some matches and if you want i can record them.

How is the online btw? i never tried it before hopefully is not that bad.

Online can be funky sometime so it's depended on distance between the players and Internet itself.

Wow, you guys need to find something to do. Just went through 7 pages of random nonsense to get to the actual pic. I already saw it on the site, just wanted to read thoughts about it.

Interestingly, there is no watermark-less version:

Pic of the day. Now consecutive standard attacks will always transition into a finishing move. This is Fox's finishing kick after his standard combo attack.

Captain Falcon's finisher is a falcon punch. His new neutral B special is a SUPER falcon punch that is also a guaranteed KO like Mac's.

Really curious what today's update actually means by "always".

Can I still jab once with Fox and then run around, or will it always go then to the finisher?
Can I still gentleman with Falcon (or at least fail trying)?
I'm guessing it probably won't affect people with no rapid jabs, but who knows.

I always check SmashBros.com before I check the thread. When I noticed that we gained 10 pages, and I was wondering what people were hyping for. It ended up that the image was very late, nevertheless it was good update tho.

Just let them having their funs with Smash Hypes since that's closest we could have comparing to Brawl hype. :P

Notice how Mac's "finisher" launches fox a good amount as indicated by his colored flight trail. The damage percentages aren't visible in the video, so I'm curious as to if these "finishers" will have feasible KO potential and at what damage %. The consecutive attacks that lead into them are easy enough to land thanks to their speed so I'm thinking that they can't be too powerful.

I think it means it won't go on infinitely forever. Little Mac seems to a lot of jabs here:

Like someone mentioned before, the uppercut Little Mac does at the end there is probably his finisher.

I don't think the color thing indicates a move has good KO potential.

I don't think it will be that powerful as we see it in Little Mac Trailer. I think they just did that for visual candies so they can show off how powerful Little Mac is.

Ok, I like that then. Whiffing the finisher vs one cycle of the infinite jabs isn't much different. Actually hitting the 'infinite' is as bad as missing sometimes, so it seems like a good change.

And that gif... man, Little Mac looks great. It's weird to me how DK doesn't change poses/faces though, just moves up and down.

It just hit me, isn't that one of the designs that Namco had people vote for back in Oct. 2012? It's not exact, but I can't help but think of Design D, except they made the shoes more round instead of pointy and made some other small changes.

I actually got the link from the [thread=493903]old thread[/thread] since someone bumped it today. It is close to D, but it seems they mixed up elements from all the designs. Just look at the ghosts.

I don't think the color thing indicates a move has good KO potential.

No, but it means it was able to knock Fox a good distance. Colored knockback trails indicate a long flying distance. Compare that to white smoke trails that occur on light knockbacks. Any move with knockback can KO if the damage % is high enough. I'm questioning whether or not this finisher has feasible KO potential, i.e. if it can KO before the damage % is ridiculously high.

Maybe. Quite a bit of work just to show off a two second scene many will overlook though.

Yeah, it seems the ghosts take inspiration from C while Pac-Man is close to D, but has shoes similar to C. In any case, the end product seems to take the best parts from the poll designs.

It's a welcome change to me cause I go into infinites way too frequently by mistake lol.

Hmm, I'm thinking that Fox had a lot of damage and that colored knockback trails indicate the character going in straight up in the air.

While I like the change, how exactly does it work?
You start the jabs combo and then press A again? or press B while attacking?
I know that (I can't remember well) you had to hold A right?

Guessing it's automatic after a certain amount of time or number of hits

I got hyped when I saw 10+ pages of post only to see people who need to get some sleep/be productive spamming nonsense for 4 hours SMH

I feel like this confirms what we saw in trailers but its cool none the less
