First thing I thought of.

That is an insanely cool Assist Trophy, I will not lie. I'm really curious to see how far they push Assist Trophies and the like on the Wii U since it has so much more power than the Wii.

It's also kind of interesting that something like that would end up as an Assist Trophy of all things. You'd think she'd be more fitting as a boss... makes me wonder if boss battles are coming back after all. I know I wouldn't really complain if they went and the potential characters ended up as ATs instead, haha.

Oh man suddenly I'm really hoping that the Mother Brain AT starts off like it's pictured and then falls out of the jar and stands up with the whole body and just wrecks shit.
 
Sakurai is hilarious. Spend this weekend and next week complaining about something and the week after he'll show you something kinda related, yet doesn't answer your question at all.

I said it last AT reveal, I'll say it this time.

The Assist Trophies in this game are so much better than Brawl's.

Skull Kid? Mother Brain? Ashley?

Just like the metroids before it, seeing that burst out of an AT is going to be terrifying. God help you if both are out at once.
 
It's funny.. we've seen all of those assist trophies but we haven't seen the Assist Trophy capsule itself.
Wonder how it looks. I know it's a minor thing but still... capsules looked great when Sakurai revealed them months ago.
 
I love Ridley more than anyone on this board but this picture doesn't blind me at all to his potential chances. Samus's trauma(as it was put in the Japanese version) was most certainly referring to Ridley. This picture doesn't hint towards Ridley's status one way or another at all.

Anyway, this AT is so cool looking! The glass is shattered and everything! I don't get how people could possibly say Ridley is too vicious or realistic looking for Smash without being completely offended by this, hahaha.

It blows my mind that people still think this is possible. Like, yes, Ridley might very well not be playable, but he's not going to be a stage hazard on Pyrosphere.

1) Sakurai knows full well that Ridley is very wanted in the US - it's one of the few characters he has been directly asked about in interviews. With that in mind, he would not have teased Ridley's inclusion only to be hyping for a stage hazard that still hasn't been shown months after we first saw the stage. Sakurai likes to mess with his fans every once in a while, but he's NEVER so misleading as to hide a stage hazard for months and months to screw with people.

2) Ridley was two bosses in Brawl. If he's not playable here, he will have a role that is at least that significant. A stage hazard wouldn't make sense and would be an obvious downgrade.

If he's not playable he'll either be a boss again or an Assist Trophy. Stage hazard is practically out of the question at this point.

Well, before we got the comment it was just a pic of Mother Brain on Pyrosphere :P

Now we know it's an AT Ridley being a stage hazard hasn't changed.
 
I can't wait for the pic of the day with Samus the playable character, Mother Brain the assist trophy, and Ridley the stage hazard in the same pic.

I wouldn't really call it mind-blowing. It's perfectly reasonable to assume he will be a stage hazard IMO. There's other details from pics months ago that haven't been elaborated on; that, and I don't really see how the "downgrade" thing is an issue..

If anything, it could be like what RomanceDawn suggested in that the Other M Ridley could be a stage hazard and the regular one could be playable or w/e.

Not mean, I'm just trying to lower hype so if the day comes and he's SH, we won't have to listen to countless whinging about it.

It's better to assume he's not playable. I mean, was he not equally wanted in Melee? Didn't make the cut, so I'm unsure why he will now.

It will take off and replace Brawl competitively, but it definitely won't stop da Melee train.

what I was trying to say was that (hopefully) Smash 4 will be good enough so that even if it isn't as good as Melee, it's "good enough" to move over
