I think Classic is a bit faster, since with proper timing, you can time the roulette to land on the wrench which is either a customize move or an equipment piece.
Trophy Rush is more fun though, and requires coins.

Interesting. Either way, I hate you can get duplicates. One of the few disappointing things about this game.
They should really allow you to buy custom moves with coins, even if they're expensive. I almost have all the trophies so these coins are going to get useless fast.
Classic is probably faster if you manage to hit the wrenches on the slots. But going through it over and over is tiring. Figure rush seems more fun and the wrench drops seem rarer from what I've played.
Can you tell us when the review embargo is lifted or is that prohibited by your NDA?
It also seems to have higher multipliers on higher difficulties.
So I've gotten wrench x 5 before...but usually it ends up being equipment if it's that high of a multiplier so I stick with lower difficulties... plus fighting CPUs on Classic gets tedious on 7.0 and above.
Also it seems on higher difficulties explosive items are tons more common. I've ran into 2 empty exploding capsules, and a Party Ball filled with Bob-ombs in the same match.

Hopefully the Wii U will have something like this. At least we seem to be able to transfer all the custom stuff over from the 3DS.
Yeah, I'll probably play through classic once with everyone, but after that I'll probably stick to figure rush; I don't need every custom right away.
ProJared confirmed earlier today that the embargo is lifted Friday.
I did everyone's Classic Mode on 7.0 Intensity or higher, so what I had above was all I had completed. So hopefully you get luckier than I did. I do have quite a few characters that are 1 or 2 custom moves away from complete, like Mario, Kirby.

How does figure rush work exactly? Can you just do it as much as you want?
You pay coins to gain time for Trophy Rush up to a max of 2 minutes and 30 seconds (900 coins). So yeah you can do it as much as you want if you have enough coins.
You hit blocks that fall from the sky under a time limit. More blocks you hit for a chain = higher multiplier. The yellow warning symbol tells you where a shock orb thing falls, if you get hit by it, it does considerable knockback. There are also blocks that explode and shoot fire out of them. If you let the blocks stack above the blue line, you get a warning, and if you don't eliminate them before the warning beeping stops, the main platform disappears. If you die by falling off the main platform, either by the explosion blocks or having the main platform disappear, you lose time (15 seconds).
The more blocks you fill, the higher the multiplier and points you get. You also fill up a bar while hitting these blocks (that yellow one below the score in the upper left). When it's filled, trophies and coins blocks appear, and occasionally wrench blocks (which hold equipment/custom moves).
I've found DK's Down+B most abusable for this mode, and then rolling or bair occasionally to get rid of explosion blocks or to avoid the shock orbs.

i've been going back and forth too. I usually go digital, but i feel like smash bros. is a game i might wanna play on someone else's system at some point. being able to download it at 9 PM instead of midnight is a legit concern for me, though lol

That's how it works, fire attacks make it bigger.
technically most energy attacks in general.
I don't believe the save carries over even with a cart though, because of having to install some data on the SD card. At least this is what happens when I use my cart version of Smash 3DS on a different 3DS.
Yeah my only concern on going digital is that i'll have to pass my 3ds if someone doesn't have the game (and i already got a bad experience with the demo and random scratches appearing on my circle pad :< )

It matches the stage selection in additional rules perfectly.
Also note the notice the missing square, just like in the stage selection screen. That's where you can select the DLC.
