Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

So, does anyone have any E3 traditions they'll be doing next week? Nothing too special, but I always make sure to ask for the two conference days off, then stock up on geeky junk food (doritos, cheetos, etc) and soda. Then, I spend Monday and Tuesday in hype heaven.

Anyway, I don't know which people you were talking to, but 2005 was pretty much the most disappointing year to be a Zelda fan. I think they pushed TP back a year just so that they could get the motion controls that the fans craved working right. As it was, fans weren't really all that happy with the execution, which led to Nintendo refining the concept with Skyward Sword.

People were disappointed by the delays and the execution of the motion controls, yes, but you're still wrong about a lot. Once again, no one really thought about motion control Zelda beyond a "wouldn't it be cool if..." subject before the reveal of the Wiimote (even in a thread about possibly moving it to the Revolution before then, only one or two people even kinda mention gyro control), and, even by E3 2006, only the bow & arrow and other such aiming functions were meant to be motion controlled as the sword was still mapped to the B trigger, so it wasn't like they were trying to deliver some fanboy wet dream of being able to swing your sword by swinging around the controller as much as it was making sure the Wii had a strong launch lineup. If you have quotes from people in 2005 being disappointed that the TP didn't have motion controls, please point me to them, because I'm looking though the GAF threads from that time, and finding nothing but hype.

Edit: And the thread from when it was mentioned/revealed that TP would have motion controls? Not very positive.

My tradition is having some family, work, or school event come up in what should be a completely open time of the year for me. I start work full-time next year, so this'll be the last E3 I'm just kicking around in the middle of the day to watch stuff.

Getting home as soon as possible is always one.

Yeah, the missing E3 tradition

Usually I would have the days off and stock up on food/snacks, browse GAF and play games, but I didn't request any days off next week (damn finals being this week). With that being said, I'm not working Monday so I'll be browsing GAF all day while playing games during the inevitable GAF server overloads. Probably will pig out throughout the entire day but we'll see.

However, I'm working from 9AM-2PM on Tuesday so I'll be rushing home to catch up on all of the Nintendo news and being hyped for all the Smash Bros stuff later in the evening (tournament and discussion). I just want a blowout of information, including the final character roster and stages, 3DS-Wii U connectivity, release date, etc.

Since I'm on the other side of the world, I can't catch up with live streams and coverage of E3 conferences especially when broadcasted in the afternoon, so no special preparation on my part. Usually watch uploaded footage when I get home after work. Hopefully to catch the Digital Event when streamed simultaneously across the world since it will be evening my time.

No specific traditon. I am just going to make sure I suss out the best site to stream the digital event and tournament, then probably stock up on tasty treats like chocolate tea biscuits and soda, then enjoy an entire day of blissful hyping with my roomate.

My tradition the last couple of years is to have something come up right at the last minute that makes me panic and think I'll miss out on watching something live and then find out I can still make it in time. This year? I have a job interview June 10 at 9:30. EST.

Sleep as much as I can the day before and then fight to stay awake.

I usually record them all and watch them with my best friend while drinking energy drinks and eating junk, but I moved last year and won't be able to do that any more. =/

I also can't get two days in a row off at my job since I'm the only one who knows how to do it. So I'll probably just record what happens on Monday since I'll be working, and watch it sometime during the week while avoiding the internet like a plague (With the exception of Nintendo stuff which I'll be able to watch live on Tuesday.

I predict filler for tonight's PotD. Last time I didn't predict this (last night) we actually got filler. Since I'm never right about anything, predicting filler again should keep things safe.

Skullhydra, glad you kept your avatar for the week. Tomorrow, you will be free.

Will gladly like to bet with you again in the future. Not sure if mutual, though. :P

Hope we get something good (Wario) tonight!

Pic of the day. Brewster brings The Roost back to Smash Bros. Nothing beats watching a battle of famous fighters with a freshly brewed cup of coffee.

Wait a second... clearly this means Alfonzo will serve the coffee when Brewster is fighting on the Animal Crossing stage

Of course I kept it. Avatar bets are like laws here!
Unless you 'forget' to check your inbox and skim over every post from the person you bet with to avoid them...

I'm up for another bet almost any time. =]

Looks pretty close to the foreground to merely be scenery, but I don't see how this could be a stage hazard.

More importantly, is Brewster only on the Wii U version? We 3DSers won't get any coffee, then :( Maybe Kapp'n is a 3DS exclusive to compensate.

tryin hard to do some real analysis of this purely filler pic

Two animal crossing pictures this week! Coincidence?
most likely

I'm not even sure what there's left to hype for Animal Crossing. Isabelle and Nook/lings are already deconfirmed, we've seen stages on both systems, we got alt costumes confirmed...

Smashville as a returning stage for 3DS, I guess?

Yeah, I agree. There isn't much else that could really be shown for animal crossing. Besides stand alone trophies, I'm pretty sure we've seen all the animal crossing representation in the game

I was going to say Tom Nook playable as a semi-clone of Villager, but then I remembered he is part of Villager's Final Smash.
