Ratings, we got ratings!

Wario nooooooo!

Watch Wario's fart be even more farty.

Haven't we known this for weeks?

No, only the 3DS version was rated.

Edit: Oh wait, I thought that was the Wii U version but it has the 3DS logo on it... why did I think it was the Wii U one?

Smash 4 doesn't have Snake's stale action star weaponry bumping up the rating.

I hope this is a joke post but I will respond seriously anyway lol.

Snake's weaponry hardly has any reason to do with why Brawl got a T. Brawl got a T for the Crude Humor part of Snake which had to deal with his codecs and Wario's farting. If Snake's codecs are gone (or toned down) then the E10+ rating makes sense.

how's it like living in denial, buddy?

Whoa, I thought this was the Wii U version too.
Yea, It has that big 3ds logo, I'm not sure how my brain didn't process that.

I can sort of see that with the ledge grabbing then (though the auto-grab range is still far too big).

But I still don't get what that has to do with directional air dodging, given all that it adds to the game in terms of mechanics as well as the more balanced risk and reward and it didn't require any real form of dexterity.

The Brawl airdodge added nothing to the game other than making it incredibly easy to avoid being hit in the air without any risk involved.

I hate wave dashing :p Maybe if they add landing lag to it, i'd be ok w/ it.

Competitive Melee is played hyper-aggressively. I feel like the meta-game there hugely favors offense. It's a similar imbalance.
Sir, have you ever watched a Jigglypuff play? Or a Peach? Or a campy Sheik? Or a Marth? Or Ice Climbers? Or pretty much anyone except spacies for that matter?

Sure! They don't use many of the evasive or defensive techniques, either. They just naturally evade and play keep-away, sure. But the defensive techniques in Melee were criminally underused relative to the offensive ones.

Brawl is six years old -- if the exact same game was released today, it might have gotten an E10+. The rating system is subjective and almost arbitrary. I highly doubt Wario lost the fart. It's one of his trademark moves in Brawl, and it played a major... "role" in Brawl's reveal trailer.

in fact sakurai has gone on record to say if that atomic fart wasn't in the trailer he was going to walk out of the development of super smash bros brawl

That rating is a fake. The game will be rated Kids to Adults.

I get liking Brawl more than Melee if you're a casual player. It has loads more content and makes some stuff easier like ledge grabbing.
I just don't understand why some casual players would care if the game introduced/reintroduced more competitive aspects outside of pettiness. I really don't think if Brawl had mechanics like Project M or even Smash 64 (simplified compared to Melee but has depth) at launch that they'd hate or dislike the game.

Competitive players just want a relatively balanced game that rewards smart play. Brawl didn't really satisfy that.

What about Brawl, which had the same "Cartoon Violence" descriptor as SSB4 but still got a T.

Irrelevant ratings change by the whim of the board.

Or something something Snake's codecs.

Really? What is your problem? That kind of attitude is really dragging this thread down. Nothing wrong with people wishing for Snake being in the game. I get it that you probably hating on Snake, but come on.

What's funny is that Smash 4 is that plus "mild suggestive themes"

Yeah, it was strange thing that I noticed.

Honestly doubt Wario lost his fart.

It's strange that Crude Humor is gone because I always associated that to Wario.

People are allowed to both like and dislike Snake. The end.

As a casual, I don't care at all what they put in or cut out in terms of gameplay mechanics. In the end, I just want a fun game where I can play as my favorite character and beat up other people's favorite character and then whine on Neogaf when I ultimately lose.

Exactly. It's not mutually exclusive. We can have a crapton of content and have a rewarding competitive game too. Other fighting games do this all the time.

Snake is out unless they're doing a Kojima MGS2 level troll. Outside of any ridiculous circumstances he'd be revealed by now. The lack of a T rating cements it in my eyes. So in other words, there's a very small chance but if I were betting, I'd say no.
Sad because stupid hitboxes aside he had a really clever moveset.
