Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

I want a new Prime stage for WiiU too. SkyTown would be cool.
There is already the Pyrosphere, so I doubt there will be a new Prime stage for the Wii U version. If there was one, I would like a stage based on Sanctuary Fortress.

As for returning stages, Brinstar with HD Kraid would be great.

Speaking of Metroid, I hope the new Metroid stage for the 3DS version isn't from Prime Hunters. Hopefully it is from either Fusion or Zero Mission. Or even Metroid 2.

Edit:
Guys, so far we haven't gotten a WiiU DK stage, what would you like to see? Personally I would like something from the retro DK games, preferably an ice stage.
Gankplank Galleon for the Wii U version and The Flying Krock for the 3DS version. Or vice-versa.

When will the game hit gold and believable leaks will start to surface?
Can't believe it's a little more than a month for release date.

Don't expect anything of interest until late August.

Hos many stages did Melee and Brawl had? Retro stages included

41; 31 new, 10 classic.
Assuming every character-repped franchise has its own stage, we're on track to have ~40 stages in each version, not even counting past stages. I'd say there's a legitimate possibility of each version having 50 stages, but I'm not going to expect it. I'd say expect 40.

What Brawl stage is in the 3DS version?

Green Hill Zone; was shown in the most recent screenshot dump. There's the off chance it's not a past stage...but it looks so damn similar, including in layout, that it almost certainly is.

Not mid-August? Well not that it changes much anymore.

It would be the third week of August or later methinks. The middle of August pegs it about a month before release, and the printing period starts about 2-3 weeks before launch if I'm not mistaken.

I played so much Smash the last 2 days and now I'm home and back to reality.

I want to talk about the extreme usage of Bowser. In a time setting with no stock, people discovered very early on he was the guy to use. He is very quick and his forward air can combo into his jabs very easily. The bowser bomb, back air, and forward smash were his saving graces under these circumstances. People play very differently under a time setting and with items all over the place it was just much easier to get hit by Bowser's buffed up moves. He is in no way over powered though. As a Bowser main and taking on Larry 1vs1 for a little while with DK during the tournament, it was clear to me that Bowser is now a force to be reckoned with but not a MetaKnight or Ice Climbers in the slightest. He now feels a bit like Dedede in that he is big and can be combo'd easily because of his size but still swift enough to get the jump on opponents.

I was happy Bowser got some real recognition at this tournament especially after all the years of maining him and not being taken seriously, people would even refuse to play me(in brawl). Though once things started to go 1vs1 I wish people chose other characters but what can I say? I can't really fault people with going with a clear winner.

Once I got to the stock matches I chose DK and I could breath a bit because people played very differently. I was M. Osborne on the board but I don't think any of my good middle matches were streamed. I know Bowser in and out and while properties are different and there is still much to learn I know Bowser won't be some unstoppable MetaKnight. Not that anyone here truly believes that but just throwing that out there.

About DK I did figure out a few things from this build that may or may not change upon release. He can short hop, up air, up tilt for a very satisfying combo. Only at low percentage though. Short up, back air, reverse punch is in as I might have stated earlier. The roll is really interesting too! I and almost every DK player I saw avoided the move like the plague because we just had 15 years of lame kick ingrained into us. The roll as a lot of ending lag as well so people just didn't use it. But the roll doesn't just send enemies up like before, it actually pushes them forward! So once you push them it makes for got spike set ups off stage! I am certain it is going to drastically change the way DK is played! I'm pretty sure I saw someone roll off the edge as well! Though it didn't connect with the enemy. Can someone who is still there test that?

Melee had 29 (3 retro), Brawl 41 (10 retro).
I expect at least 40 stages for both versions of Sm4sh, with 8/10 retro ones.
Based on how many shared stages there are (like Boxing Ring or Wily Castle) they could be more, anyway 50 or so actual new stages at least.
I hope we don't get 20 new stages per version because 3DS exists.

Got it. Basically they still have a little more than two weeks of work and then the 3DS version is finished right? It's crazy to think about it.

The whole silhouette theme seems better suited for 2D platformers like DK or whatever else is out there. Not sure how items would work, and it would be pretty time consuming.

Don't really care to have it in Smash.

Grassland Groove is also superior.

Here we go, people blaming the 3DS version again for (an unlikely) lack of content
instead of being grateful the Wii U version even exists
.

It is so fucking obvious there will be more than 20 stages per game.

I can envision a few problems w/ a stage like this, particularly items. Do all the pokemon come out and look normal, or are they somehow ALL converted into black w/ highlights? What about assist trophies?

How easy is it to tell if you see food on the ground... or is it a bobomb? I dunno. Neat idea, but I think one that may have some downsides in execution.

I hope they don't stick to a rule that a series can only have one retro stage. I want both Pirate Ship and Temple as retro stages. I also want Fountain of Dreams on the WiiU in glorious HD

This means that we definitly need to see more 3DS stages in the nex few weeks, I think it could have 30 stages and the WiiU version 45. That would be a good amount of new stages. Considering that many series haven't been represented in stage form yet, there will be variety in this game, I'd say 1 stage per series except for the big ones (Mario, Zelda and Pokemon)

I don't blame the 3DS version for anything, it's simply obvious that the WiiU one would've had more content if 3DS didn't exist. Simple logic. It works both way, 3DS version would have much more content if WiiU didn't exist.
Out of the two, the 3DS one is expendable for me, I'll just unlock everything and then toss it away for the real deal.
I too am sure we'll get a lot of new stages, anyway, at least 50.

Just ignore it, pointless to get into it at this point.

I think between my 3DS and Wii U, I might be able to top my playtime in Melee which was ungodly and probably more than any other game ever.

By the time Brawl came out, I was almost done with HS, so preparing for college and having a job pretty much robbed of game time. Now that this is portable--I think I will surpass that playtime if I combined the two.

Since you added some clarification I'll only say this on the matter.

We are already getting plenty of content in both versions (I make this claim based off past iterations, but until then we will not know for sure.) If I could choose between having two games--one portable and one home console version--that were both already filled with content (totally original content for both versions in some cases). Or one game that is already stuffed with content to be even more overstuffed. I would choose having two great games on two great platforms. Not only is that pretty much convenient to everybody, but a lot more people can get their hands on the game... if that makes any sense.

How I imagine a Dark Aether stage:

The stage causes constant damage to all players, unless they are close to a Light Crystal.

The Light Crystal is like the pellets from the pikmin stage in Brawl, you can pick up and throw them.

If throw off stage, another one will appear after a set amount of time.

Well, at least in my head, it looks pretty fun for 4p FFA :p

Good to know that even the 3DS version has Brawl stages; that makes it a bit more likely for Melee stages to show up on Wii U. Hoping for even more retro stages this time around. If we're getting even more stages than Brawl, maybe around 15 retro ones? It might be a bit much, but there's a lot of old stages I'd love to see come back. Brinstar Depths would be great, and I'd love to see Fourside return. The only 64 stage I really care about is Saffron City; I don't know if it's likely to come back, but it would be nice.

That would be fun. I like the stuff where everyone rushes to one location, like the safe zones in Norfair.

yo guys, how long does it take to set up PM? i have a hacked wii in the basement and i'm itching to play some smash and why not try out PM but i don't like fiddling around too long.

I really want Fourside back. That stage was super cool, had great music, an UFO, accidental deaths, etc.

I see your point and it makes sense, sure. But for me, I'd go with the single version and make it with even much more content, simply put.
I don't have any butthurt for the 3DS version, in fact I'm going to buy both and probably like them both. But I can't see myself getting anywhere near the 3DS version after the WiiU one comes out, and that means that all the exclusive content on 3DS will go to waste (for me, obviously). Maybe it won't happen and I will enjoy 3DS version much more, who knows, but I doubt it.

Only reason you should be mad at the 3DS version is if the IC get cut.

Besides, didn't Sakurai say the 3DS version was the original one, and he was coerced into making a Wii U version?

I don't have a hacked Wii but it was as easy as getting a 2GB SD card and putting files on it, and then deleting all of your custom stages.
