Oh fuck it, add me to #TeamReal .

I swear to god, if characters like Lucina and Dark Pit get in over Lucas and Wolf, I'm going to be pissed. Dr. Mario getting in over Mewtwo is even worse.

Yeah but Kid Icarus Uprising got released in Europe so I know who the fuck Dark Pit is. Same can't be said of Lucas. And let's face it Wolf is just shy of "Dark Fox".

50/50 on that

50/50 is the mathematical way to dont know something

#teamboring yaay

lol
I just want to watch this thread burn.

We need an avatar tag so we can differentiate the teams more easily.
SmashGAF cycle repeats!

Forgot to mention Kirby. My guess is that we'll probably have a new Kirby stage in regards to the console/handheld stage rule, but as evidenced by the Kalos League it's not absolute. We'll see about that, though.

I agree Magicant is a grey area, though while F-Zero's stage may be as well I can't imagine they won't go for a more graphically-involved stage (unless they're going for a Pilotwings-esque direction). And hey, better an Assault stage than an Adventures one.

It is very surreal. I should be so very salty over the lack of Lucas...baffled at the return of Dr. Mario...but no, I'm putting all my attention on stages.
I'm still holding out hope on a new Kirby stage for the Wii U version, because they wouldn't give Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem new stages on the Wii U version (alongside new 3DS stages) and not a new Kirby stage... would they? Good lord I hope not.

Honestly, I'm pretty much okay with the roster. The only things that bug me are Dark Pit and the lack of Ice Climbers (at least right away, if the DLC thing is legit), the rest is fine by me.

The stages, on the other hand... this is basically the terrible situation I had been arguing about since the revelation of the split stages between the two versions at last year's E3. Except worse, as I at least expected the stage count in both versions to meet Brawl's.

Instead the two versions may be gimping each other on stages, two incomplete halves to a whole that can never be complete.

Snake may be default on the WiiU and just added later to the 3DS to keep the roster a surprise.

Snake would be a massive hype boost for the WiiU release.

I never considered this. If they are withholding characters to make the wiiU version more hype, then hopefully the charcter dlc for the 3ds is free. Though it would be pretty shady to withhold finished content.

Add me in for #TeamReal. Nailing minor, unnoticed things like the line thickness and the Tomodachi room, on top of the insane amount of effort it would take to get the leak right so soon after Meta Knight's unveiling, is just too many coincidences the leaker would have to hit for it to be fake.

That, and the game's coming out really soon.

Believing blindly in unproven evidence? No way. These teams are both flawed. Whether you want it to be real or to be fake, you've got to look for what's true.

Always seek the truth!

More money for Konami, and more timely promotion for MGS5 (not unlike Snake in Brawl mere months before MGS4)

In Europe, that fitted almost perfectly, since both games released in June.
I say almost, because it was actually MGS4 to be released earlier (June 12th), while Brawl finally came out here on 27th.

I was skeptical at first but damn, all that new evidence is pushing me over to the team real. And this time for real, not for fun.

I can't be the only one who thinks that releasing veterans from the last freaking game as DLC is extremely stupid. Lucas, Wolf, and Snake as DLC instead of making it in the actual release? Really???

The point isn't the amount of stripes, the point is it's an even number of them which in turn always have it end with the opposite color of the one it started in.

The "point" of the picture that started this debacle was to show Ness had kept exactly the same design, including stripe counts. Those pictures show Ness not having 8 stripes, or not ending with a yellow one.

That said, the thin bottom yellow line is consistent in his in-game models (even though the sleeves are different on N64). Which is why I think it's because of a slight design change to Ness, or the render just differs slightly from the in-game model.

I don't find that particularly unbelievable. Maybe they're considered niche characters that not many people will be interested in playing? If it was all newcomers in the DLC we'd be complaining how Nintendo's forcing us to spend extra money on the most requested characters :P If the leak is true, then I for one am really glad we're getting them at all. Snake coming back is particularly mind blowing to me.

Is that a) hope? b) based on evidence? c) based on leaks/speculation?

I hope it's b!

It would confirm the leak. I want to watch the worldSmashGAF burn.

The Dark Age of SmashGAF.

So, the end of the Dark Age will happen thanks to twists after twists, culminating with the most insane and unexpected twist possible, so much that we'll think and talk about it for years.

If Doc is a straight Mario clone with his own version of FLUDD, then Sakurai can literally fuck off. If he's Melee Doc, then yeah I wouldn't mind this being the real roster (assuming the DLC thing is also real)

Reposting and updating:

Apologies if I couldn't find all original posts/sources on my summary. I have limited time!

Things that make it seem believable:
  1. Clone Corner - if a leaker wanted their leak to be believable, they'd have put lucina next to marth/robin, Dr mario near mario/luigi, and dark pit next to pit/palutena (counterpoint - faker could be trying to be creative and throw us off - reverse psychology)
  2. The thicker black bar for kirby - actual behaviour from the game that pretty much nobody noticed. It'd be incredibly impressive for a leaker to add that knowing it was in the game. (counterpoint: faker noticed it in E3 footage, or used a pre-existing screenshot where that was the case)
  3. Removal of names - E3 build had names under each character. A leaker would have probably left those in to make their leak believable. (counterpoint - leaker figured out that too many characters made it hard to read names, gambled, removed them anyway)
  4. Tomodachi stage - living room is nearly identical to the one in the famitsu scan (counterpoint - leaker had early access to famitsu leak, or made a really good design guess)
  5. Highlighted stage actually increases in size, therefore overlaps w/ UI - known behavior of stage select. (counterpoint - leaker is really good at paying attention to detial, included it in the fake)
  6. The CSS isn't 100% full. Every other leak fills out the entire screen. (counterpoint - leaker was trying to support the 'dlc' leak)
  7. Duck hunt dog's render is entirely new/unique (counterpoint - so are klonoa, protoman, Ness renders shown off previously)
  8. Fox now has a blue background, like the box (counterpoint - the box has been on the internet for a couple days now)
Things that cast doubt onto the leak:
  1. Ness's shirt is not up to other smash standards! (seems to not ALWAYS be the case?)
  2. Falco's render is similar to other smash poses (Maybe it is! Why not? - also, his scanner is in a different position)
  3. Dr Mario/Bowser Jr/Jiggly is similar to existing promo art (So are palutena, pac man, and lucina!)
  4. Duck Hunt is a ridiculous name, it should be duck hunt dog, etc (It's ridiculous indeed... why would a leaker try to make his leak LESS believable though?)
  5. Game and watch didnt have an outline in the pac man trailer (Game and watch was not confirmed or updated in that trailer, either)
  6. I guess shulk has a similar pose to one of little mac's in-game poses? (if anything, I think it shows off even more differences)

obvious errors or stupid mistakes doens't make the leak more believable,it's the opposite
I don't mean it like that. I mean it like weird character placement that you wouldn't expect, or drastic changes to the UI that you wouldn't expect. If a leaker wanted to go *ALL OUT* and be this believable, they likely wouldn't have left out names in the CSS or they likely would have placed lucina near marth, etc. I don't mean things like a typo, a graphical error, etc, I mean weird quirks that you wouldn't expect. If the faker put it in, that is some good reverse psychology gambling.

Also, as far as DLC is concerned... adding DLC characters allows them to keep the character hype train up between releases, so maybe that was the plan? *shrug*
