Having been in a game previously does not mean they should be in this game. There is no rule that states otherwise.
If DLC comes along, even if some of it is to put re-purposed veterans back in, it will still be worth paying money for.
On my way to test out the new Smash, friends! Rain won't deter me from getting my hands on this game.I can try to check things as you request, but I'm only one guy. (Trying to meet up with CHusson, though!)

Call it fanboyism, call it what you will, but I'm willing to give nintendo the benefit of the doubt and believe that even if some DLC was planned prior to the game going gold, the DLC we'll inevitably get wouldn't have been able to have been released alongside the rest of the game's content in time for its launch.

To be fair, technically the first DLC was the one from a week ago that added the Mercedes cars and fixed the awful menus and that was free. So the equivalent for smash would be a game update with the Veterans for free.
If I was really entitled I'd want newcomer DLC for free too.
You jest, but I probably would be willing to buy DLC that reflected the Koopalings' SMB3 and SMW in-game sprites. SMW's Purple Roy (with White Sunglasses), Green Morton and White-haired Ludwig would be worth my money.
Junior could perhaps get some alts that maybe cite the "Koopa Kids" from the earlier Mario Party games.

We've only heard it from D1, who heard it from his contact, but no concrete detail or anything. Maybe his contact was just teasing him for some reason, so assuming it's the same build everywhere (should be), it should be pretty easy to know if it's real or just a tease gone wrong.

If you don't mind, I'd also like to know if the veterans sans Bowser still have their Brawl victory themes (they did in the E3 build). Here's a video for reference if you don't remember.

I'd venture to say that small fixes and additions like this are a big leap from veterans.
Since all of the characters from Brawl were remade from scratch, Lucas, Wolf, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Ice Climber(s) would need to have this amount of effort, too.I mean, what if Sakurai releases them as DLC - $10, which gives you two codes (one for 3DS, one for Wii U)?

Ice Climbers weren't cut for anyone. Nor did the clones prevent inclusions of any other character. People need to understand this.

I'm sure DLC is in the game, and it'll include at least Ice Climbers, Wolf, Lucas, and Chorus Men. Snake may be added, I don't know how his rights work, same with Mewtwo and Roy.

I doubt the unique characters were cut for clone characters. If anything, the clones were probably added once Sakurai realized he couldn't get the Ice Climbers to work.
This is my biggest issue with clone criticisms. It seems abundantly clear, at least to me, that significantly less dev time goes into clones than original characters. Personally, I'd prefer six clones than one or two veterans. I'm biased I guess, as I always found IC to be difficult to master, so I won't be missing them at all.

I don't think they sat down thinking, "we need Dark Pit, but we don't have any room right now, let's get rid of Ice Climbers."
It's either we get 48 characters with the clones, or we get 45 with no clones. Would that make everyone happier?
Nobody is "cut" for Dark Pit. Or Lucina. Or Doctor Mario.
There's only one Roy that will be in the game, and he's an alt for Bowser Jr. =P
Whether or not that's the case (I don't doubt it), people aren't going to grasp that. Hence all the complaining.
I'd be happier with 45 with no clones. I've always felt that they drag down the overall quality of the game.

Yeah people were holding out hope that Snake would still be in even after the ESRB leak not including him but it's definitely a long shot.

C'mon Anth0ny, I KNOW you're better than this. Clones aren't the reason IC, Wolf, etc. were cut. Anybody who thinks so is dumb and has only themselves to blame for their dumbness :/
