I don't trust anyone from Smashboards, with good reason. Their moderators have burned us before.

There's a good chance we'll get DLC, but I'm not banking on any information coming out about it before hand.

We can't say for certain, but judging by how long it takes models to swap during a Final Smash, the exclusion of the Ice Climbers, and the 30 FPS Assist Trophies it seems likely the change was done because of hardware limitations/version parity. Maybe single Final Smash model swaps wasn't much issue, but having four on screen at the same time switching characters at varying times could have been an issue.

It's gonna do one thing the Wii U version can't: make Nintendo a lot of money. If the 3DS wasn't so popular compared to the Wii U, we might not have Smash 3DS at all. And I doubt it'll "kill the system selling potential;" anyone who loves Smash enough for it to be a system-seller will probably get both versions anyway. On the other hand, people who aren't super into Smash probably won't drop $300 for a Wii U just to get Smash, but they will spend $40 for Smash on the console they already own.

You realize Nintendo doesn't own Banjo, right? I mean I could see Bomberman getting in at some point as a third party character, but there's no way Microsoft would contribute to Nintendo's killer app.

I can see this happening but probably not solely as a link for the two. No way Nintendo is going to require players to own both a 3DS and Wii U and both copies of the game just to play as these characters.

I can see that being the first DLC pack. Buy Smash 4 Wii U and link your account, and you get them for free.

Time will tell though. For Ridley and your account's sake I hope you're right. :p

Come on, man. Ridley was one of THE most requested characters. It's easy to say now that the 'other boss characters will appear' reveal was only ever exactly as it read, but there was a layer of ambiguity there. I don't think that can really be denied? Sakurai should have known better than to think people wouldn't read more into that, and I still think if that wasn't his intention he should have revealed it properly in a POTD like he did with Ghirahim so people could have started accepting it a bit sooner.

It's not like this is a small group of people dude. The Smashboards Ridley thread has like 90 thousand posts? Ridley discussion here was never ending. It should not have been allowed to go this far imo.

If for some reason the extra characters on the Wii U version pans out, here's how I can see it working:

- SSB3DS owners can link to SSBWii U and unlock or download the characters for free.

- SSB3DS only players can purchase the characters separately in a small pack for a certain fee.
