Retro F-Zero stage is incredible. Both it and Magicant are really dream stages. They aren't the generic stuff I'm used to seeing.

BTW, when one of the streamers was going through the trophies, there was a great Magicant diorama. I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of Mother, but it had the hills and pink clouds of Magicant, this stolen golem figure covered in moss, some sort of house, and one of those fissures showing memories from Mother 2, iirc. It was a really tall and comprehensive trophy. Flying Man might've been in it, as well. He also has his own trophy.

I also saw a trophy for the SNES sprite of the Blue Falcon for F-Zero.

But they're not on the Wii U version right now either so that doesn't make it a watered down port? Also, I don't buy that theory. If Sakurai wanted them in, he'd find a way to make it work.

Why does everyone always say this? He's a great game developer, but he can't overwrite the laws of physics. 8 characters, running around on the screen at the same time all with their own independent projectiles and AIs probably got to the point where keeping them included would have meant degrading them to the point where Sakurai couldn't justify keeping them in.

And if the Gematsu leak WAS true, and his information was just outdated, Chorus Men probably cut nixed early in development for the exact same reason.

They wouldn't make a character unlock so difficult. It will probably give a message (wow you beat classic at max difficulty, now you can finally go outside ) and a load of coins you don't need.

I'm still doubtful that the 3DS is the reason that Ice Climbers would be cut. The only real problem I can see is keeping 60fps.

I honestly don't get the Ice Climbers love I see around here. I guess I'm the minority. They were neat, but I never got excited to see them and the game doesn't feel empty without them to me.

Well it should tell you when you've unlocked all the characters. It gave a message that all the assist trophies were unlocked so I assume the same goes for characters.

I think a lot of the complaints originated from the original kids being set aside for him and his terrible voice acting in Mario Sunshine. Not that they should have been in the game necessarily but it seemed weird for him to exist since Bowser already had kids. He ain't OG like the original 7. He's an imposter.

Doesn't seem so obvious to me. They have been in Smash for a while, but they are from a kinda crappy NES game, and maybe it was just time for them to go?

Every time I hear Mute City, I immediately tab over to whichever stream is showing the new SNES stage. And I always hope the player will struggle to beat the CPU, just so I can spend more time watching that glorious stage. We seriously need YouTube videos of it. :-D

Also, it has me wanting to pick up SNES F-Zero on the WiiU Virtual Console. Is it a good port? What's the price? (Didn't bother when it was 30 cents, so I'm sure it costs a lot more now. That's fine, though.)
