What if they wanted it on handhelds but needed to wait for the technology in order for it to be practical? The desire to have it on a handheld could have been there from the start.
As a franchise I think there is greater good in having it more accessible to people by releasing it on 3DS as well, than there is in retaining a single character on the roster. Both would be nice - IC were my primary - but ultimately I want more people to get into smash more than I do to keep using a certain character.
All the new additions to the roster help justify it as well imo.
I'd be willing to trade Falco for portable Smash.

While Sakurai didn't directly say the ice climbers, and a journalist threw out their name, he did say he was worried about the 3DS limitations making some characters difficult to implement. So OBVIOUSLY the conclusion comes to the most resource consuming character in the game which is the Ice Climbers. Don't try to play me.
Crappy is subjective. It's time for them to go because they are technically draining on the hardware. If Sakurai comes out and says that it wasn't due to the system that they are cut, then I'll take it back, but until then, I'll go with what he has said which is that some characters may be difficult to add into the game.

That's not how it works. Think how much more time and resources they'd have: no 3DS version probably meant no cuts, 5+ newcomers more, everyone from Melee returning and a shitload of other modes.

And what the fuck? Historically? Dude this is only the fourth smash game. And as much of a fan as you are I'm sorry but not a single entry was made specifically for you. This is sakurais baby as much as any other entry. Smash is whatever he says it is. Forever.
I wish these people won't get a version of a game so I can play with ONE character out of 50 or so that MIGHT have been cut due to that version.
You don't see how selfish that sounds?
Believe me I am looking forward to the Wii U version more too but I am able to take the L if more people get to play the game essentially w/ the 3DS version.
