Lol @ Samantha no having any smash accomplishments, Nintendo Refusing to acknowledge Project M officially?

Is this Samantha the same as Peachyhime? They do look kind of similar.

Apparently. Thanks to the absence of official-game credentials though, there's a bunch of dumbos asking why she got in
Being slippery has been Luigi's thing ever since SMB2.Why does Luigi slide on his ass so far?

I guess Bowser's F-tilt has just been buffed.I don't remember that happening in the other Smash games, even though he plays like he's covered in oil.
I'm part of the crowd and I like items. Is it OK to exclude me?They already have an avenue of advertising all its features, without any restrictions, though. It's called a Direct.
If you're going through the trouble of setting up a tournament, then maybe it should cater to that crowd.
I don't want to sound ungrateful, because it is still cool Nintendo is doing this, but it's not like Nintendo lacks ways of showing off all the features of a game if it really wants to.
He came pretty close to winning too.
I hope Hungrybox forgets it's single elim and gets salty on stage after realizing he can't come back.

no but seriously, who is she/ why is she in this?
I actually would find it great, if there are still tripping-effects on some moves. Slow characters like Bowser could really befit from it, since it gives him more time to catch up. Also it looks great, like in the gif, when the power of the attack makes characters slide on the ground. No, in Brawl every attack in the game has a % chance of inducing a trip on the person who got hit. That is what's happening in that .gif there, Bowser's Ftilt has induced Luigi to trip and thus, because of his friction he slides on the ground across the stage in his trip animation. I don't recall tripping ever taking into account your friction, though, so that might be new -- someone would have to check Brawl by doing the same thing (Bowser's Ftilt on Luigi until he trips).
That .gif basically confirms that attacks inducing trips are still in the game (or possibly leftover, they could be removing them slowly, the game is WIP after all. I'm HOPING this is the case). I really wouldn't want attacks to trip again, especially when aerials like Ganondorf's/Captain Falcon's Dairs can cause it to happen when they don't want it to and they're trying to go for follow-ups instead -- not an unintentional trip.
The most commonly intentionally used trip-inducing attacks in Brawl were Dtilts like Lucas, Ness, Meta Knight, Diddy Kong, etc. But every other attack in the game you can't feasibly plan for it to happen and that's why it's bad. It wouldn't be a good thing for Bowser's Ftilt to randomly trip characters like that.
WELP
4 PLAYERS 4 STOCKS
ITEMS ON
so much for that
This should've been the first post. I was pretty hype watching the video (even though I don't know half the players), but as soon as the rules hit my hype was gone.

I kinda hate items, but I'm totally with you on the character thing. I know at least 3 or 4 of these people would probably pick Marth if possible. It's great that we'll see a little of the game's variety. I do wish the rest of the revealed roster were up for grabs though.I love the tournament rules. Items are the heart of Smash Bros. I also love that they're making them all pick different characters so we don't get like 16 Foxes battling it out.
It's too bad this won't be representative of high skill play since they have no way of practicing with a random character (even though they MIGHT get some time to practice before the actual tournament). I hope even with the small amount of time they have to use their character, we still see some cool stuff.I kinda hate items, but I'm totally with you on the character thing. Inviting aMSa there and not making Yoshi playable should be illegal or something. The ones we'll really be missing out on are Peach, AMSA's Yoshi, and Hungrybox's Jigglypuff. Then again maybe it'll be interesting to see these players step out of their comfort zone. I assume all the newcomers will be taken.

hardest working man in games businessDoes Geoff ever take a day off?
Curious that the finals are on Battlefield after the big "no items final destination only" mode debacle. If their idea of serious play was FD, why not play it there? It's Nintendo, so I'm not prepared to believe they actually reacted to the fan feedback that quickly, but a curiosity nonetheless.
Ehh it's probably that they were going for FD but the invited players suggested Battlefield instead.
