Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

You know what would have actually prevented people watching them on YouTube? A universal release date.

Pretty awesome. And he further confirms that it won't be like SSE. Yes. lol

It sort of reminds me of that one mysterious stage that was shown in the trailer where Pit was shown flying out of, iirc. I wonder if we will see the WiiU single player mode soon to compare.

It was Mario jumping, not Pit flying.

Sakurai the type of dude to say its not like SSE and its exactly like SSE, but with a different story. Or some type of RPG level up .. mech....

Wait a minute , didn't sakurai say the the 3ds version would feature a customization mechanic for moves?

PLEASE GOD let the adventure stages all be based on pre-existing Nintendo games. Please please please. Bind Sakurai to your will, O Lord
And maybe from the third parties as well? I think it would be awesome to encounter some of the classic Sonic and Megaman enemies. Doubt it though.

Ah thank you. I never have things on hand to refer to.

I don't think Sakurai has the time to do another sse. lol. And I'm not sure if he has mentioned those details again after the first initial quotes we received in some interviews. For all we know, his customization ideas could have changed or brought about some other new twist. There is a lot we still do not know about this game. :/

Melee should have been a launch title on Wii U. Simple HD upgrade and throw it out there for 20 bucks and it would have sold millions.

Agreed 100%. It would have been easy money for them and a great extra title for them to have in their early lineup. Compared to WW HD it would have been less work but all profit...hopefully lol.

edit: they could have even attempted (key word attempt) to add an online mode just to test their netcoding. :0

That dates back to E3 2011 before development really began. Sakurai merely mentioned the idea of customizable fighters and some sort of communication between versions. However, I don't think this is particularly interesting.

Instead, we have a more recent and relevant idea mentioned at E3 2013. Sakurai noted the fact that every person who plays the 3DS version will have their own game. What this means, it's impossible to know. It could still mean customizable characters that are possibly unique to each game cart, though, I suppose.

Melee's adventure mode was fun maybe once or twice, but when you have to do it for every character to get their trophy it became the worst thing ever. I hope we don't get 50 characters and have to do the same levels on and on and on.

Random question time:

Going by memory Brawl had 3 pseudo clones added: Lucas, Wolf and Toon Link.

Eventhough every attack had different effects and they generally had different animations (and often wildly different hitboxes on smashes and the like) they can easily be described as "similarly looking characters with similar moves".

Keepind that definition in mind, imagine SSB4 added 3 more "pseudo clones". Which characters would you like to see in this role?

(note: I don't care if you actually don't want to see clones at all, I'm curious what characters people would pick more so than their stance on clones/pseudo clones themselves.)

Well that new single player stage looks pretty interesting, even for the 3DS game it looks pretty good to me. Something about the use of somewhat neon colors.

Dr. Mario
Dark Pit
Roy

If Palutena got in then I would like to have Medusa as pseudo clones

I think SSE is terrible outside of a few cutscenes and Melee's adventure mode is boring but not as bad as SSE. If they can make an adventure mode that is fun, then I'll be excited, but till then, I won't be excited about anything like that at all.
Sounds a little weird for All-Star mode's lobby to have a random pit.
Maybe they replaced the light thing with a pit?
Black Shadow.

Dark Samus.

That's all I got.
These would be my answers.

Assuming that Black Shadow gets Ganondorf's move set, while Ganondorf gets his own new move set.

Wow, considering we were talking about Adventure/SSE over the weekend, kind of surprised we got a peak at the single player mode. If it's like Adventure, I'd be fine with that. I just hope this time around, there's a bit more secrets/extra fights to discover, like the giant Kirby or fighting Luigi instead of Mario.

Ideally I'd like a Castlevania 3 set up to the adventure mode, have like 10 stages but multiple branching paths for a possibly 25ish stages allowing for multiple replays to still feel fresh.
