Someone has been posting old Empire photos in the CCTV chat.

I laughed at young Dieminion.

Ugh the Focus video is missing the last five minutes, it just restarts the video at 69 minutes.

I just finished it and I got to watch all 74 minutes. Great documentary. I love anything to do with the fighting game community.

Ok Focus really made me shit hype for evo. I really hope to see some underdogs make it far, I'm not anti-daigo by any stretch of the imagination that dude deserves every win he gets but come on now just imagine someone else getting the 1st spot.

It would be nice, but his Yun has looked so on point lately that I can't imagine him not taking it all.

Just finished watching Focus. Really nice documentary. It's even interesting to see the difference in Mike's perspective from when it was made until now. I didn't even know that Mike went 1-2 at EVO 2009. Totally different story for 2010, Top 4 is no joke.

And for some reason that shot of Mike rolling up his sleeves (also seen in the EVO preview) gets me pumped.

So I have been playing SSF4AE every day for the past week or more for like 8-10 hours a day. Among friends that is, they all have been waiting for the PC version and now we all play it hardcore (taking a break from Marvel).

Game is awesome... fuck the haters. I picked up Yun as my first character in AE. After a lot of play, I was dominating with day 1 stuff with Yun. Once I learned some starters for his Geneijin combos, his pressure games, basic combos, how to land and use dive kick plus the command throw... it became a nightmare for most characters in the game. People around me who were using characters like Rose, Akuma, Ibuki and Dhalsim (yeah we have a Sim player in our midst) generally got destroyed. Only ones who faired better were some of the DP heavy characters and the heavy grappler types but even then Yun was very dominant.

Then someone started picking Fei Long and Ken which caused a lot of headaches. Ken's long legs presented a good problem for me as a Yun player plus the Shoryuken. I realized soon that characters like Ken/Ryu are fine just trading against Yun's dive kick all day and I started losing matches. Once I got "figured" out and got trapped in a corner, I basically lost the match due to better pokes. Same with Fei Long, if he gets going on Yun there is very little he can do. Then of course the Yun vs the twins... basically whoever got started first won the match. Most of it was my fault, I was started to crack under pressure and was hitting the dive kicks on the wrong body parts which threw off my frame advantage game. If I missed a block string I would get DP'd and that shit hurt. I am still pretty dominant with Yun... if I play near perfect. If I mess up too many times in a match, I will be beat.

So I took a break from Yun and tried out some other characters for the remaining of the days. I have now been heavily practicing with Adon and Makoto. I love them both, they seemed buff in this. So I am going to be maining 3 characters in AE, Makoto, Adon and Yun. Makoto especially seems REALLY BUFF in AE probably going to have a peak at her changes online.

ah so you picked up yun and was enjoying the game...good for you, you are doing it right.

Mak and Adon are indeed serious forces (Mak moreso), so good luck, keep having fun.

I have always been into SF4, just not super hardcore (more people around me play SF4 more than MVC3 because it's on PC). I played very little of SSF4, had it on console but no PC version means less play time with my buddies when I am over at their place (they have to come to my place). I was super excited for AE on PC.

Most people on the Internet complained about Yun being broken/OP character and I had to get in on this action. To my surprise, he was no where as broken/OP as people made him out to be but he is still a very dominant character. Just not brain dead as vanilla Sagat or vanilla Wolverine, you actually have to play really well as him. I sort of stopped following the competitive scene in SSF4 when MVC3 came around but now with the announcement of UMVC3 and release of AE I am going to be playing AE until UMVC3 comes out.

Just checked the Makoto buff list and holy shit wow. Main confirmed.

Mike blames his poor 2009 performance on the Starslay3r drama that was going on at that time and messing with his head. He talks about it somewhat on this podcast, but I still don't really know what happened. As far as I can tell, Starslay3r was airing dirty laundry on her twitter account and talking openly about their relationship, to Mike's dismay

Careful Dahbomb, you're going to make Threi snap his monitor. :(
I don't know was his post supposed to be sarcastic? Does he hate Yun or something?

I finally understand what Devil_Trigger's avatar meant all this time. I never actually READ what it said in the pic until now and it hit me like a TRUCK. And yes IT FINALLY DOES WORK NOW!

That's a shame. It's good to see him make a full recovery and not let lady troubles get the better of him, save for choking gootecks that one time on EA.

Nah i don't fear Yun.

Greg is just trolling because there was a misunderstanding earlier that made people think that a certain Gaffer caused me to break my disc in a rage, which is actually pretty far from the truth.

I'll agree he's not as braindead as vanilla sagat, but he's still strong as fuck and its easy to fall into autopilot with yun. I'm still trying to decide whether vanilla sagat was stronger, he had no bad matchups.

This week's Cross Counter was kinda silly when they started to talk about "what can you do if you show up at 8am on Friday and go 0-2 at EVO". Umm... you're in fucking VEGAS buddy, do whatever the hell you want.

I went to Vegas a few months ago, and I made a huge mistake. Turns out I went on the same weekend that $21000 MK9 tournament was going on. I was IN Bally's that day but was so distracted by work before leaving that I didn't know. Could've met some fighting game celebrities.

I'm planning on landing drunk. I've been sober for too long :D
If I wasn't driving I'd be drunk upon arrival too.

So what's the word on a meetup? We should do something!

I'll probably be skipping the later parts of the Pre-EVO party to do a cram session for my 8am (yuck) pool so if anyone wants to get games tomorrow evening toss me a PM and I'll give you my number so we can meet up.

Make some room in that failboat for me too.

I'm not going to strike out three years in a row though. 2012 will be my year.

I wanna go next year just to witness all the awesomeness first hand, and to snap photos. All of SF GAF should start planning for it now!
