Ya, I want Hillary to win as much as the next guy, but one can't deny the impact of this. I don't know how Sanders pulled off such a massive turnaround.

1) Open primary. He does better with republicans and independents
2) Sanders supporters were against the wall. MASSIVE volunteering effort from all over the country poured into Michigan.
3) He did not do as badly with African Americans in Michigan compared to the South.
4) Despite what I thought, he actually won the debate according to focus groups and polls.
5) His Fox town hall showing was actually amazing. Inspiring shit.

I'll give Bernie people credit where it's due if they manage this-- Obviously a massive GOTV effort.

Those 7% of Democrats who went to vote Republicans are idiots.

Fake edit: Aah, some of Detroit came in.

I really feel bad for Sanders supporters that really don't understand that it really doesn't matter at this stage if Sanders starts winning more races. If things remain flat through Super Tuesday, he could win every race that follows by double digits and still not beat her pledged delegate count. These low expectations for his performance only serves to extend their suffering.

Let them dream

Just a dumb question from a non-American here, but how do you know which ethnicity votes for which candidate? I see things like "black vote for Hillary", but that's based on what? Votes are anonymous right?

Y'know, I'd say I was looking forward to Bernie's speech if he wins, but we all know it's gonna be the "half a year ago this campaign was nothing and behind by 50 points, but look at us now!" stuff we've heard many times before.

The fact that the races are tight means that his message is resonating, and that has implications for the general

Interestingly enough earlier today a Hillary campaign advisor was on CNN and said they didn't believe the polls were accurate and that it would be much closer than the polls claimed.

Exit polls, they ask people who they voted for outside the polling place, it's up to the individual to decide if they want to answer or not

Looks like Detroit starting to report. Clinton's Wayne lead just jumped from about 5,000 to 24,000

Well there you go.

Clinton ends the day with a net gain of delegates.

His win has always been pretty damn unlikely, this wont change that but it will give Sanders and his supporters more leverage as far as democratic policies and the common narrative go.

The more Sanders wins the more Clinton will have to pander to his supporters and compromise her own (or donor) interests. And if Trump is looking like the nominee for the GOP then that white working class vote that Bernie does will with might be the key to the upcoming GE, or at the very least a comfortable dem win in the GE.

Interesting fact: the Detroit metropolitan area contains fully half of Michigan's population. It is possible that most of the remaining vote is in Detroit.

I love how we're getting the establishment version of the candidate revolving door we saw on the tea party side last election.

If Bernie is able to take Michigan, it would be the biggest upset in primary history.

And he'd still walk away behind his target for the state and down a bunch more delegates. The time for 'moral victories' is over - Bernie needs *real* victories, and while a win would be super impressive, it doesn't change the dynamic of the race in any significant way.

But yeah, WTF is up with the polling there? Even with big AA turnout in Detroit and Flint, if Hillary wins it will be a squeaker.
