Survivor: One World |OT| Thread of Stupid Name, Promising Twist

Many ex-survivors agree that Jeff is way too involved in the game, he's not just the host but an actual player calling out others while he leaves some alone. No doubt he affects the tone at tribals by pointing out things no one was either thinking about or talking about. I know it's a tv-show first, but it's not nice how he fucks some people over. "Hey you why are you totally laughing back there where no one can see you? Here, have a target on your back.".

You have a source for this? News to me. I love Jeff. The show wouldn't be the same without him.

Listen to any of the major Survivor shows that previous contestants frequent - stuff like Rob Has A Podcast, RTVZone, etc - it's a very frequent topic of discussion. Most agree that he has an influence on the game, and several players from older seasons think he's gotten more involved over time.

Jeff certainly makes the show, but I do think he occasionally goes too far at Tribal Council or during challenges. I remember last season when Cochran's physical weakness was being discussed at camp as a reason to potentially vote him off, and Jeff specifically called him out during a challenge in front of everyone—something to the effect of "look at Cochran struggling, hurting his team!" Keep in mind that Jeff is an executive producer on the show, and he knows everything that has been happening in the game. He's a very good personality and he's usually able to skirt the edges of restraint, but I'd rather him be more cautious and let the players play.

Jeff is part of the formula. I love that he points the game out. he's part of the pitfall. Even with his commentary; a troll like russell still made the finals twice.

/shrug.

<3 Jeff probst.

Yeah, the scrambling would have been magnificent!
I thought there was some scrambling but most was edited out because it was irrelevant. They clearly left in the Lief/Tarzan talk in order to continue the set up of "Tarzan is nuts" story they used in next weeks promo.

As for Jeff, I'd love to see real evidence of his increased aggression. I don't doubt that his role in the game has increased, but should we really be surprised that we are shown him dumping all over Alicia given that the rest of the episode is her acting awful followed by karmic turnaround?

Was late to this week's episode.

Colton and Alicia are vile, vile people. Very happy to see Colton go, hopefully with Alicia to follow next. (And I hope Christina has some hand in it too.)

Christina has the patience of a freaking saint.

Tonight's thread kind of died due to GAF being pooched while the show aired. All in all it was a pretty predictable episode I'd say. I'm not buying any of the girls vs. guys smokescreen and betting Salani sticks together next week. And even if a Salani goes it'll be someone on the outs of the core-4 alliance (i.e. Michael, Sabrina... Kat's going to float for a long while due to not being a threat to anyone).

Leif's a pretty safe bet to go.

I really hope it doesn't end up NuSalani taking out NuManano one by one, or the girls taking out the guys one by one. We have the potential for some interesting shit to go down so I'm hoping we get some good television.

Sad to see Jonas go, but still rooting for Troyzan. I'd say him, Kim, and Chelsea have the best winner edits so far. As much as I love Christina she isn't getting enough screen time to be a winner.

I dislike Tarzan, and like Jason. (Shit, his name is Jason right? Tarzan constantly screwing up his name made me confused.) So I'm disappointed with the results.

Jonas

and lol @ the new tribes sticking together..........they were "new" tribes for like 2 episodes lol........the guys are going to get steamrolled when the girls all go back to their original plan

Damn, my favorite person is out now. Didn't really like his chances of winning this but I liked the guy as did the rest of the tribe it seems, so it was a clever move to get him out.

It's in Salani's best interest to just tolerate a loose cannon like Tarzan because he's clearly willing to drag what's left of his tribe down with him, non-threat in challenges and he'd make a great goat in the finals.

I don't buy the women's alliance either, Salani's probably going to run this show until they're out of outsiders to vote out. This episode's talk about dead weight Leif, Alicia and Tarzan would support that.

Oh, and the intro is back.

I don't understand their reasoning for who to vote out so far. Jonas didn't seem very threatening. Maybe smart and a good worker and all that, but still a follower. And Kat was definitely nothing to worry about at this point.

Some of the women (Kim in particular) seemed to loathe the guy earlier in the season.

Agreed.

Also, the kid in me couldn't help giggling last night when Jeff said, "Everybody, grab your balls" during the immunity challenge. =D

... I don't know what to say but I cant believe they booted Jonas. Fairly entertaining episode though; even without colton. The reward challenge and leif... lol. great immunity challenge though.

While a great chef, Jonas was probably viewed as a threat for his ability to get close to others. The fact that Tarzan remains indicates that the tribe, or at least a majority, understands the importance of bringing along goats to the final three. This season seems to offer quite a few goats so far; Tarzan being an excellent choice. I mean, why else would they keep Tarzan?

Personally though, I can see some fat getting trimmed soon, if the girls don't ban together that is.

There's also the fact that Tarzan is no threat at all. I don't know if he'll make it to the end, but even if they want to get him out eventually, Tarzan is no threat while Jonas was a big social threat. There are definitely several different goats to choose from.

Strategically (and for the sake of entertainment), Jonas was a great choice to get voted off. He was obviously willing to go all out to win, it was readily apparent to virtually everyone, and he was an appreciable threat at challenges. Plus, people who work hard around camp and make it to the end are likely winners.

Kim and Chelsea are getting remarkably good edits, as is Troyzan. We haven't really seen any flaws or negative personality quirks from them, and Chelsea's little tiff with Tarzan was turned into the comedy segment of the episode.

I really hope the next several boots aren't as boring as they probably will be. :\

I think the return of reward challenges should stop everything from being so boring. We haven't had the whole "one person picking another to go on a challenge and annoying someone else" for awhile due to the Redemption Island challenges taking up so much time.

Of course I say should because you can't account for the stupidity of people.

Exactly. If I was Kim or Troyzan, I'd want to take some combination of Tarzan, Kat, Alicia and Michael as far as possible.

This season is shaping up to be one of the worst ever. The alliance of boring unlikables has total control of the game. This cast is so terrible.

The alliance in control are the only people I do like. Kim, Jay and Troyzan actually think things through without being douchebags. Chelsea is nice too, but her whole positive energy thing won't help her much.

Welcome to Survivor seasons 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 17, 19. and 21.

The secret Tina/Colby alliance was amazing IMO.

Kat really is like super duper dumb. What a dumbarse.

Jonous?

lmao.

anyhow; I'm not actually keen on any of them to win. Hope lief wins it.

Blah!

Lief seems like a nice guy but has zero game. He's also shown that's he not the brightest these last few episodes. I hope the women run this game. I'm fine with any of them winning besides Alicia.

Exactly. Everyone wants him gone and now it's even more boring than before.

Reality shows need the bad guys.

But he was evil and mean and I hate him and I want him to die!

Probst said he doesn't want Colton back on the show because he doesn't give fans "something to root for", but I doubt we've seen the end of him. Somewhat related news is that there are apparently rumors floating around about returning players next season, sadly.

BLEH. Why do they keep doing this? It's so lazy and stupid. :/

well i mean no returning players this season and it's one of the worst....

I really don't think this season has been so bad. I personally think it's way better than last season.

They always pick the worst people to return too, I wouldn't be surprised if we were subjected to Rupert and Brandon again.

There has been way more quality seasons that featured all new contestant than season with "all-stars" IMO. The "play until you win" kick CBS is on with all it's reality shows is so grating.

I don't know if you've been watching the same show as me, but this season has been infinitely more entertaining than either of the past two Redemption Island seasons. I mean, seriously, the last two seasons were basically contestants slobbering over Rob/Coach. The only interesting person last season was Cochran and maybe Brandon, previous season there wasn't anybody interesting.

This season there are new contestants that are great. I think this is one of the best seasons since China.

Yeah, this season has been pretty awesome in my view. You have a great cast, and a lot of people who are playing the game intelligently. Also, Tarzan. It's definitely a big step up from the past few seasons.

I don't want returning players all the time, but I don't mind them next season. It's the 25th season after all, you might as well celebrate it.
