Can we not post spoilers? Even spoiler tagged. I mean what's the point besides ruining it for everyone? It's not like this is a book that some people have finished and some are just starting. We are all watching live.

Keep that stuff on survivorsucks

So apparently the producers are just going full-on troll with the Hidden Immunity Idol this season. When the tribes get a reward of a rice tin, the clue will be at the bottom saying "The idol is hidden in plain sight. In fact, it’s right under your nose." The Idol will be the lid to the rice tin.

I think it's hilarious that Blair Warner from the Facts of Life is on Survivor. She's a huge fan, so she might do well. She's also hardcore religious and homeschools her kids and believes in bizarre punishments. She wrote a book called "Creative Correction" and here are her ideas from the book:
Lisa recommends:
--blindfolding children for an hour if they roll their eyes
--handcuffing quarreling siblings together
--putting quarreling siblings outside, whether it's 30 degrees or 100 degrees
--making a child wear boxing gloves all day long for hitting; they are not to be removed for eating; she also recommends videotaping the child trying to eat popcorn with the boxing gloves.
--burning a few of the child's toys if a child is caught playing with matches
--pinching a child's tongue with a clothespin for disrespect
--pouring hot sauce on a child's tongue
--saying "no to reasonable requests such as 'may I go to the bathroom'" in the name of keeping children on their toes in terms of obedience
--restraining a one year old in a car seat if the child won't stay in time out
--making a child close the door quietly, like 100 times, for slamming a door

Also, random trivia: there was an episode of the Facts of Life where Blair was supposed to lose her virginity; Lisa refused to do the episode due to her religious beliefs so they rewrote the script to make it Natalie, and Blair does not even appear in the episode...I'm curious if Lisa will be this season's vocal religious castaway....she may rub people the wrong way...

EW revealed the 3 returning castaways. As expected, they are Mike Skupin (Australia), Russell Swan (Samoa), and Jonathan Penner (Cook Islands, Fans vs. Favorites).

I'm gonna have to watch the episodes of The Tick and Arrested Development that Penner was in to celebrate.

Never watched survivor before. Will watch for Jeff Kent.

Mike Skupin's season was so long ago. I can't remember if I liked him or not.

Everyone was likeable in Australia, because they gave each personality time to develop. Well, besides first castoff Deb. But after what came out later, probably best that they kept that one quiet.

Regardless, they werent edited to be villains, etc.

It's still the best season.

He was good. Plus he had his whole boar hunt thing going on.

The early seasons were very much survival, which made for a lot of interesting contestants. As the game has optimized itself out of that and more towards different gimmicks and extreme screening, it will be interesting to see how he competes.

Yeah, the early seasons got extreme. There were points in Season 2 and Season 6, in particular, where the editors showed the players breaking the fourth wall and looking at the cameras/cameramen in shock after a major event at camp.

The previous contestants were all upset during last season because every competition had a food reward.

Yup, Survivor was real back then. I recall Nick calling for Terry (a producer) after Mike got burned, and in that season even Mark Burnett appeared on screen briefly, and many longshots didn't hide theclear signs of production and behind the scenes aspects. They really were surviving and the production was happy to show that.

Nowadays they just want good TV, and Probst has been open in that they give the survivors food because there's more chance of them being lively and 'up for the fight', I guess. More aggressive and combative. Probst and the other execs don't want them wasting away on camera like they did in Australia because CBS thinks its 'dull'... oblivious to the fact that Survivor is at its best when it mixes survival and drama. Australia had plenty of both, and remained fascinating throughout.

I remember Colby coming out after Heroes v Villians and basically stating the game is too sanitised and overproduced these days. Some of the behind the scenes insights he revealed really painted a picture of why old-school survivors would struggle its the new game. I think Mike wil be one of those who'll find it hard to adapt.

lol I actually saw the episode yesterday and it was so bizarre. It was an episode about people being afraid to dance in public and Jeff was hosting it as if he were hosting Survivor (really dramatic and intense).. very weird

Tonight's the night. Nice to have some Survivor to watch again after giving up early on the last go around cuz of Colton. Episode is an hour and half tonight.

Oh god. Is Frankenstein dude this season's Brandon Hantz?
Only a Hantz can be a Hantz. They're a special class of maniac.

Way to go Jeff Kent. Getting yourself maimed less than 5 minutes into the season. Clearly he's buying into the whole medevac theme. At least Penner will be sympathetic to his knee issues.

Loving that there's finally a season where they can have water challenges again, missed them.

Aside from his hair Skupin really hasn't aged at all, dude looks great.

I like Russell not trying to weasel in as the leader. He's playing it smart for now.

The injury doesn't seem minor either.

I'm mildly impressed by this bunch. Lots of people forming alliances, and I like that at least two tribes are ready to boot returnees.

This looks like it's gonna be a fun season. Rooting for Penner and Skupin, could care less about Russell.

Malcolm and RC seem pretty awesome so far, too.
