Immunity Idol found. Who does Russ hate more/who's willing to suck up to him. Great ep.
Kind of shocking that he was like the first person to find a clue and doesn't appear to have done anything with it for the last week whereas everyone else on these tribes of 6 in no jeopardy at all are politicking with idols like there's no tomorrow.

You'd think his imminent demise would provide some motivation on that front.

Seems like the same thing happens every time the try more than 2 tribes.

It just really seems like they are not even in it, they get a slow start each challenge and then puzzle wise they seem screwed.

Even with the scenes from next week teasing a little bit that they are in it to the very end they will probably still lose, just a clever edit.

Clearly the miracle must be that Matsing avoids tribal council and doesn't finish last so we still have suspense.

No way they make it that obvious. The teaser from last night clearly made it seem like Matsing doesn't lose yet again, which almost definitely means that -- as anyone who's watched Survivor for any length of time knows -- they'll be heading to Tribal Council. I'm hoping they don't merge, though...that Ulong season was kind of hilarious, in a trainwreck sort of way, and it would be funny to see one of Matsing have to spend a night alone at camp.

Angie, noooo! I'll miss the eye candy. Malcolm should have kept her. She would vote with him all the way. Bad move.

RC looked pretty good in this episode. She's annoying and a walking stereotype but she has a pretty nice stomach.

I like Abi. She's a total loose cannon. I mean, just going after RC in such a confrontational way. Then telling that dude about the idol. Hilarious. Those kinds of players are the most fun to watch. Like Dreamz or NaOnka. Love them.

I want to talk about how insecure RC is. She keeps talking about Wall Street. Well, guess what, I worked at an investment bank, too. And not that collapsed shithole Bear Sterns, either. But RC keeps bringing it up. It is incredibly obnoxious. Not to mention she has her own FB fan page she runs herself. Her former employer replaced her when she left for Survivor.

I don't get people like that. She's fairly cute, pretty athletic, has to have some intelligence. Why is she so insecure? Ah well. Abi probably picked up on it.

I'm real surprised we haven't seen any footage at ALL of Russell trying to find the idol. You'd think that since he's been in such a bad position since the start he would be trying harder to find it, especially since he has a clue. Sucks that he found it and not Malcolm/Denise because you know if they had the clue one of them would have the idol by now.

I love the yellow tribe's storyline so far. It went from Abi-RC dominating the tribe to Abi-RC fighting to Abi-Pete flipping the tribe on RC-Mike and they haven't even lost a challenge yet. This tribe is great because you know once they merge all the shit is going to hit the fan. Also I'm super surprised Skupin hasn't gotten more confessionals. Penner's basically been the focus of his tribe, while everybody TALKS about Mike but Mike hasn't been shown doing any talking at all. Very strange considering the editors usually love to dominate the episode with the returning players.

As for RC's insecurity, the best looking, smartest people still often feel insecure about themselves. Confidence is something that has to be worked on. She picked a terrible friend in Abi-Maria, though.

Safe to say they are not going to experiment with three tribes at the start after this season, this one tribe is just getting demoralized challenge after challenge.

It also doesn't help that during immunity challenges the other tribes get to sit out their weakest players. The show probably wants to get rid of one of the three tribes early since it's a lot harder to give balanced screen time to three tribes compared to two. We barely know anything about the people on the red tribe other than Jeff Kent and Penner.

I guess maybe he's searching for it a lot, and it's just not being shown since it's boring. Penner is great at narrating his search for the idol, but Russell isn't exactly the greatest narrator. Either that or he's just so paranoid about being seen looking for it and doesn't want to give them a reason to vote him out.

Yeah, the Tandang tribe has been really interesting to watch. A lot of volatile players there, and it seems like most everyone is really there to play. That situation is really ready to boil over, and they need to go to at least one tribal council before a merge. Merging without ever really resolving your inter tribal issues is not good (see Galu in Samoa).

I don't think I've ever seen Probst call someone out post-challenge like that...was that a first?

Also...kind of enjoying this season's anti-religiosity, especially after they focused on it so much for a couple of seasons.

He's done it several times before, but I don't really think he was "calling Russell out"; it came across more like he was talking him down, which I wish he wouldn't have done. Let Russell implode on his own. Great challenge, though.

And Kuwabara was right, Abi is fantastic. She's much more entertaining than anyone else on the season.

Maybe it was just that one year with Coach & Little Hantz...but so far this year they've had that black girl who get voted out the first week who had that big, showy display of speaking in tongues (but first they had Denise kind of mock her), and then they just had Probst asking Russell who he was talking to. It's not something huge, but it's definitely there.

EDIT: Also, that season with Jesus Matt.

Russell needs to go. He's got heart, but this season proves he had very little to give.

I think you're projecting.

This tribal council is so chill.

It's possible...but do you think they're portraying Russell and (looks it up) Roxy the same way they showed Jesus Matt and Coach?

I think that has less to do with some intended angle and more to do with Russ and Roxy being slightly more volatile.

Good. I've had enough of Russell.

I'm surprised they'd go this far without some sort of merge. Has to happen now. 2 people is not a tribe.

I saw Russ getting booted a mile away. There has to be a merge now. What's Malcom and Denise gonna do?

Also, I hope Jeff Kent goes far.

At this point, they might be deciding to Ulong them.

Wouldn't be surprised, but the fascinating thing about Ulong was that with two tribes the difference between the two was so stark. This is more sad than interesting, especially since both Malcolm and Denise are likable characters; the only genuinely likable member of Ulong was Stephenie (no, I don't buy CBS' bullshit about Bobby Jon being likable).

They did flesh out the other tribes - especially Kalabaw - more than they have in any other episode, so that could mean a more interesting outcome next episode. Or, I could be reaching and they just decided to show more of the other tribes because with so few people left on Matsing they didn't have enough footage to fill a show.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Though I agree with you, Bobbi Jon and Stephanie beg to differ, lol

Yep. And they did that in part to make sure the show didn't develop a reputation for bailing out failing tribes. I expect they will do it again here. (Didn't China also have a lot of "tribe begging for merge every week" clips?)

Will be really interesting to see if either of them finds the idol. Also, from the next-episode preview
Hinting that Jeff Kent might be going home on evac?

Russell's problem in both his seasons was the guy has a lot of heart but not a lot to back it up with. You'd think he'd be a great athlete just looking at him but he's not. His social skills are lacking as Malcolm mentioned tonight as well. Russ really is not self-aware.

Someone missed the preview?

Previews are always misleading. If the preview makes you think someone is going to medically evacuated, it means they'll stay in (see Boston Rob in Heroes vs Villains). The safe thing about the previews is that whatever is in there is always going to be the opposite of the actual episode.
