I don't know why there's no official topic here, just random surveys and stuff.

Where can I discuss the actual console?

don't forget that there are multiple for different regions
Yeah, the Jap one at 2.2m when the American one at 3.5m and the UK at 0.4m, Spain 220k, France at 150k, Germany 100k etc., plus all the various shitty youtuber crap live streaming it etc.

Didn't think they'd shadow drop this at all. Very strange strategy to me.

Honestly feel like they're lucky this is, seemingly, working. That trailer was no where near as good as the original Switch trailer.

People already know really well the Switch concept, they did a direct and clear message… a big Switch 2.

Yeah I'd be very surprised if this failed, only thing they can bungle at this point is the price point and launch year games.

Big shoutouts to Nintendo's CGI team. I bet they're on cloud 9 right now. For how little they were given to reveal, they sure made a whole delicious meal out of it.

Sure, and I guess I'm jaded from all the leaks, which I'd assume the vast majority of viewers haven't even encountered.

But given the leaks it came of as very underwhelming to me.

Oh, okay. Nintendo must be extremely happy with this in that case.
Absolutely, the social media is reacting positively towards Switch 2 reveal.

There must be a mistake here, gamers are in the wrong.
I checked carefully and nope, I couldn't see all of Donkey Kong's ass hair. Switch 2 is not powerful enough, it has to fail.

Forums seem like alternate reality sometimes.

I thought that was a dogshit reveal and yet the youtube views/likes and forums seemed really positive to it.

Woke up to Nintendo's stock down 4.26%...

They didn't reveal price which might suggest its more expensive than people are ready for and they only showed Mario Kart with no promise of other games until April, suggesting that they might not have a robust launch lineup ready to show yet or at all.

If either of the above are true, the stocks going to fall considerably further once revealed.

A teaser was an interesting choice. Especially one that basically shows no major design changes. I wonder if they were forced to show this because of the leaks and they weren't planning to do anything until April?

It was a dogshit reveal, it's just that Nintendo fans are so hyped for anything new from Nintendo, it's guaranteed to get a lot of exposure and likes.

Even without announcing any games to go with it. Which is why I'm excited for the device, the games, not the hardware itself.

They better start making more than 20 million for the first year, because this shit is gonna sell like hotcakes

While the thirst is real, I'd consider myself a big Nintendo fan and would agree that the reveal was pretty shit.

I'm kind of surprised that the response is so overwhelmingly positive.

The internet is a pretty negative place, but I feel like Nintendo has largely etched out a space where they're largely exempt to the negativity.

I'm not really sure how or why.

They remaster and remake just as many games as anyone else. They don't necessarily deliver a big game every year. They don't cut their prices on hardware or software. They're lawsuit happy against basically everyone. Joycon drift seemed to be a major scandal.

I think at the end of the day though, they aren't seen as an antagonist specifically to any fandoms and as a result fandoms don't seek to attack them.

Sony is seen as an antagonist to Nintendo, Microsoft, and Valve/PC community. It's attempts to expand beyond console is attacked by console fans who want them to focus on them. Same with their live service push rather than focused on single player.

Microsoft is seen as an antagonist to Sony. The realities of their situation are lost on their core fans.

I think Valve and Nintendo basically get a pass from everybody.

But they literally just showed what every saw in a render and a short clip of Mario Kart showing nothing of note other than there are double the cars on the track, which I'm not sure anyone would care about. I've never heard anyone say, oh man I wish there were more NPCs. I guess I guess larger races online maybe? Though, not sure that really improves the game. It doesn't hurt I guess.

That's going to be a huge change, especially for balancing. And I'm sure there'll be quite a few new items to handle that.

I've also seen people mention the possibility of racing in teams of 6 versus each other etc.

Imo just going from 8 to 12 on Wii made a big difference in how the game feels and plays.

But it also risks becoming too much. They added 200CC in Mario Kart 8, that was not a very good addition imo. We'll see.

Would be cool if they made a huge battle royale balloon fight mode for this one, with even more players.

Nintendo stock when UP yesterday

That'd work for me.

You can even buy first party games direct now. People freak out when their Amazon pre-order of a Switch game is cancelled. Just order from Nintendo. That's how I'm getting Xenosaga. If I decide to get DK I'll go direct, looks like Amazon doesn't even sell it right now.

It's common for stocks to come back down to earth after a sudden spike. This is a pretty standard market correction. It's not like the stock is in freefall. It's actually still up vs before the reveal. You're clearly cherrypicking data to match your priors.
