Switch 2 UK retailers already report sellouts

I have never pre ordered a console from them until a hour ago, but use Argos semi frequently and its always been either their own vans or Yodel, in this instance I hope I'm wrong and it is DPD, Yodel are so bad I would even take Evri over them.
If it is still the same as before Brexit, all the consoles are coming from mainland Europe via Nintendo GmbH, so yodel will just be the last part of the delivery.

I pre-ordered a Wii with Argos back in the day and received it a few days late because of the Germany to UK delay - according to their support desk - so I wouldn't be worried about Yodel at the local drop off, as if the bottleneck is from Germany, none of the other local couriers can do any better.

Honestly depends how many units the retailers have got.

If each UK retailer has 250,000 day one units and they've all gone - splendid. If its like the Wii and they got about 30 each it's not the same effect.
Let's look at this from Nintendo's perspective. The Wii, as much as Nintendo liked their idea, still might have been pulling back on the reins of manufacturing until they saw how the public responded to it. On the other hand, they've seen the Switch go on to become one of the best selling consoles of ALL TIME. The Switch 2 is essentially a Super Switch, that can play Switch software. I'm thinking they might be feeling a little bullish about manufacturing in this case.

Goddamn it - Smyths cancelled my pre-order - Checked all the usual on here mentioned as being available and they're all sold out.

Guess I will be monitoring this thread.

really? what the fuck. Did they refund you straight away?

I hate that scummy company, they took my money for stock they didn't have in the past and it took 30 days to get a refund meaning I missed out on launch day as I didn't have the funds to buy another copy. Dicks.

Yeah, sorry platform warriors; Switch 2 is gonna kick ass whether you like it or not. I know you'll hug your systems of choice, but 3rd parties won't be able to ignore Nintendo, the Switch 2, and it's LOWLY POTATO SPECS for the next 6 or 8 years. 🖖

Not as of this morning.

Set a reminder to ring up the credit card company this afternoon if they haven't by then otherwise I'd just forget about it.

I've ordered some stuff before from Argos and twice it was showing available paid up then day before suppose to pick up it came back saying ordered cancelled so now only go Argos if it in the store to collect at that moment

This things sales are going to be monumental. I hope some people can learn to accept that and not let system wars get in the way.

Nintendo operates in a different league to anyone else.

Smyths don't take payment until a few days before dispatch. Still not ideal that the order was cancelled but they shouldn't be out of pocket at this stage.

Jd Williams has stock - never used them before mostly seems clothing for women but they have switch 2s for some reason! Just got my order in and seems to be selling fast so get on it UK bros

Do they take full money for the pre order??

If they are faster than amazon I might change it ...

I can see the Switch 2 retailing double of what it is, once it hits ebay
Scalpers gonna scalp and they have a huge warchest of money from scalping all these other products. I think uk had the most scalpers in the past. Just looking at how in america ps5 bluray disc drives were on shelves but Europe had scalpers galore because they were always telling me how they couldnt find one but i was seeing them everyday in every american store and online in America.

Damn I wanted a wand. On a more serious note, I miss the old KingCobra days, he's just fucking nuts now
Yeah, its endless boring food hacks and rwndom rwnts. He really peaked last year with Jessicas saga, but really been so boring lately.

Just managed to nab mine on John Lewis. Seems like the restocks are happening 12:00pm each day.

Tried it 2 days via Argos but they ended up cancelling and refunding my order.

Well keeping my order with Amazon even though it says 7th for delivery at min, but ordered a case, pro controller and joy con 2 charging grip just now from Nintendo then will be ordering a sd card and hopefully when Nintendo store opens to everyone they still have the GameCube controller there as will nab one of them, strange jumped in when told myself not a big Mario kart fan and prob more excited to play donkey Kong game in July

They're back at Argos again. I don't know why I keep checking those pages - I don't even want one (no, wait, maybe I do). Every day, more stock.

The best part of 500 quid to play Mario Kart, with not a single other game announced that I'm interested in.

Why can't they do the decent thing and *actually* sell out?

Thanks snagged one.

If they had a restock on a Friday night after I was back from the pub I'd surely buy one, but I'm relatively sensible in the morning.

Have to keep reminding myself it's a bad deal. Games costing £75, same again for a spare controller, probably most games in the future will be aimed at ye olde Switch with some token enhancements for Switch 2...

Haha same I've ordered a switch 2 Mario kart bundle, pro controller, charge grip, case, and prob order GameCube controller if any left, yet not much a fan of Mario kart , but think since I had a mega drive I have had every console and handheld on day of release since apart from ps5 pro which since haven't played much ps5 since there nowt decent wasn't upgrading my ps5 to play nothing. Just hope Nintendo saving something good for fall 2025 and not just Kirby and Metroid prime

I wouldn't count on being able to do that. From the bottom of the page:

Its becuase NIntendo wants to crush every console launch numbers in history.

This thing is going to do gangbusters. Not that sales interest me, really. As long as I get good games I am happy. Got my pre order too, so I hope everyone else who wants one, gets theirs.

Well considering it's an online purchase my statuary rights tell me I can return within 14 days no questions asked. As long as in good nick of course.

Ewww, I caved and put in a preorder. I am utterly disgusted with myself. Zero willpower.

I divided it into four payments with Paypal, so maybe I can convice myself I didn't just spend £475 to play Mario Kart on a shiny new tablet that will rarely get used for anything else.

Might as well go out and buy my first rock of crack now, I'm that pathetic.

Why £475? the mario kart world bundle is £429 or did you buy some accessories too?

Welcome to the pre order gang. I've not been this excited for new hardware in a loooong time.

If its any consolation I did the same and regards to the return you'll have 14 days no questions asked.

When you buy goods online in the UK (and in most countries with strong consumer protection laws), you are protected by statutory rights under consumer law. Here's a summary of your key rights for online purchases:

UK Statutory Rights (as of 2025)

1. 14-Day Cooling-Off Period (Distance Selling Regulations)

  • You have 14 calendar days from the day after you receive the goods to cancel the purchase for any reason.
  • If you cancel, you are entitled to a full refund, including the standard delivery cost.
  • You must return the item within 14 days of cancellation.
  • You may have to cover return postage unless the seller offers free returns or the item is faulty.

2. Right to a Refund, Repair, or Replacement (Consumer Rights Act 2015)

  • Goods must be:
    • Of satisfactory quality
    • As described
    • Fit for purpose
  • If goods are faulty or not as described, you have:
    • 30 days from receipt to claim a full refund.
    • After 30 days, the seller has one opportunity to repair or replace the item.
    • If the repair or replacement fails, you can then claim a refund or price reduction.

3. Digital Goods

  • Digital content (e.g. games, software, music) must also be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose.
  • If digital content is faulty or causes damage (like corrupting your device), you're entitled to a repair or compensation.
  • Downloading or streaming during the 14-day period waives your right to cancel if you agree to it explicitly at checkout.

4. Delivery

  • Goods must be delivered within 30 days, unless a different timeframe was agreed upon.
  • If delivery is late and you needed the item by a specific date, you can cancel the order and get a full refund.

Welcome to the pre order gang. I've not been this excited for new hardware in a loooong time.
I got the separate Mario Kart cartridge rather than the bundle with the download code. For some reason I want all my Nintendo stuff on cartridge, it seems more 'special' that way.

Still wondering what else I'm going to play on it though. The next Mario and Zelda must be years away, and they're unlikely ever to reboot F-Zero. Rhythm Tengoku is no doubt a Switch 1 game. Really hoping the Xenoblade games get a performance boost, but I've no idea if the console is even capable of that, or if it's only a tiny handful of listed games that will ever see any benefit.

Anyway, it's done now. Looking forward to June 5th!

When the Amazon invites went out, I put my name down for both. The next day I got invited to buy the mario kart bundle and the day after I got turned down for the regular. The mario bundle was the first choice anyway so I'm happy with that.

I then wanted to preorder the pro 2 controller and came across this £10 off promotion from Argos.

Just used that to preorder the pro 2 £10 cheaper.

I put my preorder in with shopto on 16th January and got told I won't be in the first shipment, wtf.

But I think I have one from Argos and one from Amazon guaranteed. I have unknown from Game and am hopeful we get an invite on NSO. As soon as I know we are successful I can throw some back to the pool.
My sister was told this too but she's received another email this week saying that she's guaranteed on for launch.
Those early sellouts are probably just retailers covering their back incase they don't have that much stock.
Expect more "Great News" email the closer to launch we get.

I thought you could only register your email address with ShopTo back in January, which is when I registered mine?

FFS - if I knew you could order then I would have done.

The launch sales will tell us nothing. Even the WiiU sold out, and we all know how that turned out.
The launch sales will tell us a lot though. Clearly they prepped this for a while and claimed to be providing a large amount of systems compared to previous gens. We will know numbers and whether or not they actually sell out.

Also I don't think the WiiU did sell out. It was sorta hard to get at launch but I think there were early spottings on shelves.
