Switch 2 - What Are You Getting at Launch?

Just perusing my options and it looks like a kind of shitty launch? I had stupidly thought Metroid and DK were launch games.

Maybe Yakuza 0 could be a nice game to replay. So could Cyberpunk but I don't fancy paying £70 for a game which was £10 4 years ago. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet could be worth playing with the patch.

I would consider cancelling my pre-order but the console will probably only get more expensive.

What's everyone else planning?

Not buying a launch title. Finally going to play Tears Of The Kingdom. The steak has finished marinating, now it's ready to cook. Preordered Donkey Kong at Costco for $62. Will buy System Shock Remastered 2 for Switch 2 as soon as Nightdive release a Switch 2 update.

I'm getting a console that doesn't support VRR when docked and Mario Kart World.

I've never played through BotW so I'll be trying it for the first time and using the Switch 2 Edition update from NSO.

Outside of those two I plan to try out the GameCube library and some upgrades.

That should be more than enough to keep busy with until Bananza and then I'll start looking more closely at other titles.

I thought Donkey Kong was a launch game, and I don't know how I missed that. I was hoping my wife would give it to me "from the kids" for my birthday the next week. Oh well. I rerouted my Mario Kart Switch 2 bundle preorder to her brother, so I have a feeling she might be getting me a copy of MK. Hopefully she uses rewards points or something, because I'm not on board with paying $80 for games again.
It's looking like I'll be playing Tears of the Kingdom with the paid patch, Hogwarts with the $10 upgrade, and Cyberpunk. I think the kids want Street Fighter, so we'll see.
I've been saving Zelda for the Switch 2 after I played it for an hour. It was too rough for me on the OG Switch.

Finally play Tears of the Kingdom and finish Echoes of Wisdom, then replay Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury in HDR.

I do also wonder if general CPU improvements will help the very physics heavy "Good Job!" lock to 30fps, that would be fun to replay if that's the case.

Just Mario Kart for me
I'd also like to get my hands on a Pro Controller 2 at some point. I'll wait until I start running low on space before buying more storage and hopefully by then they'll be easier to get too.

I just want to replace my Switch 2019 with a bigger/better screen. Bought the MK bundle for the kids, but have no interest in that game myself. Gonna stick to my S1 games for now, especially Bayonetta Origins.

MKW
CP2077
Bravely Default
Fast Fusion (?)
Hogwart's upgrade
Maybe Yakuza (especially now there's an English dub!)

The Mk bundle, the camera and a Switch 2 pro controller at launch.
Probably will pick some Switch 1 games, like SMWonder and ZeldaLA.
Later in the year MPJamboree sw2 edition and (hopefully) Metroid Prime 4.

Mario Kart
Fast Fusion
Donkey Kong
Zelda BOTW/TOTK upgrades
A couple Switch 2 upgrades: Link's Awakening, Captain Toad, 3D World, Odyssey

Maybe Cyberpunk and Elden Ring but not sure they're both at launch.

Then Metroid Prime 4.

Pro controller.

Hoping they release other colors for the joycons. We'll have minimum 2 consoles, how are we supposed to tell them apart??

MKW will be my focus, but echoes of wisdom I need to finish and I could see myself going back to Link's Awakening or maybe even BOTW. Considering some third party options like Bravely Default.

I'm a consumer whore. I'm getting:
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris 25
  • Fast Fusion
  • Donkey Kong Bananza
  • Deltarune
  • Mario Kart World
  • Switch 2 Welcome Tour
  • The BotW/TotK upgrades
  • Street Fighter 6
And I'm obviously getting Prime 4 and probably Hyrule Warriors when they come out later this year.

I'm the motherfucker who bought 1 2 Switch when it came out. I have zero shame. (Also, that game was pretty fun at parties.)

Definite:

Mario Kart World Bundle
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
RIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!

Tentative:

Bravely Default - Probably not on launch day.
Fast Fusion - Maybe at launch, otherwise once the MKW hype wears off.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S - At some point.
Survival Kids - Potentially on launch day. Waiting to see more.

I see this launch like the Xbox Series X. Aside from Mario Kart I'm mainly going to be playing backlog stuff. I have a lot of switch games I've never played, I'll probably start with Echoes of Wisdom . I have DK preordered for when that's out. I'll be dragged for it but I'm probably going to get the Welcome Tour as well.

Assuming I actually get the console, that is. I'm still holding out hope but I have not been lucky this cycle.

Good call on Ridge Racer. I also think we'll be getting VF5:REVO so I'll be there day one for that too.

I'm not but my fiance is getting Mario cart world and Donkey Kong Bonanza, my son will get it for my son at a later date.

Good point. I never finished Mario Wonder and saw that's getting a patch also.

Oh yeah, definitely Ridge Racer too

All I want is Mario Kart and Donkey Kong right now. I may not be able to get one at launch if supplies are tight but those are the games I'm getting when I get one. And Ridge Racer for the feels.

Buying Deadly Premonition Origins to test if it runs at 60 fps without crashes. Its capped frame rate on the Switch 1 was 60, but it rarely ever hit it.

Probably Mario kart and cyberpunk.

Won't be getting any key card games, i wanted this new version of yakuza 0 but i wont pay for something that doesnt include the full game on it.

MKW (physical), and a stupid "Pro" controller.

I'll buy an 8BitDo controller sometime down the line.

Oh, and I've started collecting Switch games. I never owned a Switch, so I picked up Mario Maker 2, Animal Crossing, Super Mario R.P.G. and Ultra Street Fighter II (EU edition).

I don't know if USFII will work on the Switch 2 since I'll be playing on an NA Switch 2. So I'm just to keep it as a collector's item and never open it. The only version of this game is on the Switch.

Got two SW2's, one with MKW and one without.

One Pro Controller
1TB Lexar
Another copy(physical) MKW
Both Zeldas
Screen protector
Protective case
Fast Fusion

Plus A few maybes that I'm undecided on.

Mario kart bundle
Pro controller
Camera
Possibly extra pair of joycons
Switch 2 upgrades of the Zelda games (never played tears of the kingdom)

Traded in all my series x stuff at GameStop this week. Got 437 for the console which was more than I paid for it back on 2023. Thanks Microsoft for raising the price!

Switch games arent region locked. Only the japanese language only version of the switch 2 seems to be region locked, so you dont need to worry about the game not working

For me:

Mario kart (in the bundle)
Cyberpunk
Hitman

All I have so far.

I did the hogwarts legacy upgrade cause it was on sale recently so it was cheap to upgrade
I get the upgrades for the Zelda's via expansion pass.

Accessory wise I might get a GC controller, pro controller 2, memory card express but I don't think I'll max the storage out just yet and might wait for prices to come down to get a larger storage card from the get go
