So, Anime Gaf, I've been out of the loop more or less for the past 5 years, save for, FMA, Gurren and Jojo. Anything else out there like this that I should be seeking out? Just a simple, person gets adventure, goes on adventure, fights the guy, beats the boss. Yknow, like the four that I've just mentioned.

Oh my freakin' god.

I just finished up all 25 episodes of the Anime and am absolutely heartbroken that that is all there is. :(

For some reason I had assumed that the series was still in progress and there would be new episodes every week. I'm so sad...

I'm not a big anime fan, I don't watch much, so I can't believe that I fell in love with this to the extent that I have.

Guess I'll have to track down the manga if I want more....

Don't worry, there will definitely be more. It's doing really damn well and there's still a bunch of content to adapt.

I KNOW RIGHT? GET THE F'ING
RL MARRIAGE ON!

And the manga is really crappy. Not only did no one translate up to where the anime concluded, but the art is god awful!
The novel may be the way to go.

Really don't understand the hate this anime gets. I like the first world and its story better than the second, but it was still really good all around. ;)

Edited because I don't want to come off as trying to shit on those who enjoyed SAO.

Really, I don't care how you say it. You can use strong language and hyperbole if you have to. As long as you properly explain why exactly you don't like something in particular, then I'm all ears. Shoot me a PM if you want to. Or just post it hear. I really wanna know. All I've seen is people saying, "SAO is the dumbest anime this year by far. It's crap. It's repulsive. etc."

...uhhh, why? That's all I wanna know. :)

You think the sexual harassment, cousin love, rape attempt etc ain't stupid?

You could always counter the hate and vote for it in the Anime of the Year thread. It is open to everyone. :)

I've already expressed why I hate it multiple times in the thread. Multiple times on this page. And I'm not the only one. if you don't know why people hate SAO by now, it's because you've been actively ignoring the reasons posted.

In the SAO ost illustations, who exactly was this other character supposed to be? Or is it just an off colored Asuna?

Just finished up Episode 25 on Crunchyroll(PS3) and I really enjoyed this show. I was surprised overall at how they got a lot of MMO terminology right. Hopefully Aniplex doesn't muck up the US release. It'll be a Day 1 purchase for me. It's also a shame the video game rights was wasted on a PSP game. Ugh...a ton of money was left at the table when that deal was made.

Now I have to find something else to watch on lunches at work. ><

Best part about the trailer is how they highlight all the best parts of the series ie episode 1and 2 only

That trailer just reminded me of the merciless mockery of MMos and their players that the first few episodes engaged in. For a moment, I stopped to think about what could have been,

...Then, I remembered what actually happened and came crashing down to earth.

Just finished episode 15, which I think is the end of season 1?

Loved it up until now, especially the boss fight episodes and episode 13. The OST is great!

Is the second season just as good, or perhaps even better?

Its not really referred to as second season.

Anyway, the remaining episodes are really good and more focused. I liked it, lots of good songs for it too.

Okay, thanks.

Yes, it makes sense for it not to be the second season. I've never seen a 15 episode long season, after all ;). It just felt like end of a chapter.

Finished it. The first half was better than the second, I think.

I preferred:
- fights against bigger monsters instead of many, same-size enemies
- darker art
- no pointy ears / fairy / elf stuff
- cast of the first half
- perma-death
- dude x asuna instead of his relative

I found it a bit jarring how they introduced all these different races of fairies (and their conflicts), but there really was no time for anything to play out at a decent pace. Also, the lack of permanent death, and the much brighter world/art style really took away from the atmosphere, I think. I think it would have been better had the first half proceeded with the villain being revealed at the top of the tower...

Best part of the second half was Kirito demolishing the main villain.

Pretty fun series though, with an amazing ost.

The second part was short , but then they cut a part of it so it could fit in the anime ..If they do another serie ( and they probably will ), you should know more about the 2nd game as it got some cool things in it.

I haven't watched any anime for a long while and decided since I have this sitting around to jump on in. I'm 3 episodes in and loving it except....what the Hell is with all the jumping around? That shit needs to calm down. I thought I was missing episodes at first. But Hell, even within an episode they jump around so much. It's rather annoying.

It's due to how the initial LN is. If it followed that, episode 2 would have been months later. They took some side stories and put them in early in the anime to help develop the world.

Gotcha. The answer to this doesn't matter too much since I'll keep watching either way, but will things eventually slow down?

You don't want to watch them grind endlessly to gain levels while nothing really happens ..as long as you understand that everytime there is a chunk of time skipped , everyone is stronger you should be fine..

As long as I don't feel like I'm missing things going on behind-the-scenes a lot, I'll survive. What bugged me about episode 3 is Kirito running into Klein for the first time since episode 1. However, they talk as if they'd met up a few times before then. I didn't like that at all. Then Klein breaking down a bit when Kirito leaves after killing Nicholas---but those two haven't been built up at all to have a relationship that would make me buy that emotional outpouring from Klein. Especially as they'd shared 0 scenes together in episode 2 and only 2 in episode 3.

Rambling over. I'm about to dig in for 3-4 more before bed.

*LATER*

Only got 3 more in tonight. About to start 7 but time for bed. Still loving it. And episode 4 especially was day-um. Kirito+Bridge+PKs= Badass.

So after slowly making my way through the Aincrad arc for the last month or so, today I sorta just marathoned the end of that and the entire Alfheim arc all in a row.

Both arcs felt like they ended really prematurely, especially the Alfheim section. There was all this setup with the races at war and a rivalry with that Salamander dude that he destroyed and then it just got all dropped the moment they got to the tree so Kirito could bad-ass his way up it in two tries. Which absolutely makes sense from Kirito's perspective, since screw this game stuff he's gotta save his girlfriend from creepo-mccreepiest, but it was still super weird to even include all that stuff.

What they did to Asuna in that whole second arc was just terrible. She went from an active and capable character who could hold her own and contribute to the most damseled character ever. Instead we got Sugu as the female partner with all the creepy infatuation stuff. At least they mostly dropped it once she confessed and they realized who they were online. Though then the entire last scene of show was more about her and Kirito instead of Asuna and him. Which was a strange choice.

Overall I think I enjoyed the series. The first arc was definitely stronger than the second. Though it took a bit for it to really get going since it starts with all those side stories of Kirito saving the day and girls falling in love with him. The series had some great animation moments and action scenes (especially Kirito's dual-wielding reveal and the fight against the Skull Reaper thing with the raid group). And the parody of MMOs in general was funny at points. I'd probably watch more if it existed.

OP1 is better than OP2.

Just so you know :

-the last scene was months after they came back in the game .. it focused on sugu and kirito to show that their relationship ( as siblings only ) is still present since they had plenty of troubles to deal with that in the second part.

-Yes asuna was destroyed in the second part , rest assured that when season 2 will come ( and it will come ) you'll get a great arc much to asuna glory to compensate.

- they did cut some things in the second part to fit in the number of episodes they had planned. This doesn't explain why the focus changed when they reached the city but it still did some damage

OP1 > OP2 , you're right
