System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster Announced

cant wait.
Like SS1 but the last part is ridiculous, the station detached and i lost most of my weapons until i reload my game, very silly

My fav imm sim ever. I like it more than even Deus Ex and Prey 2017. Such an unsettling & intense experience.

Fuck yea

Didn't last time Nightdive tease that they were implementing VR for it too? That would be fucking nuts to play SS2 in VR.

One of the all time GOAT in my book. This is THE game that basically made me fall in love with immersive sims for the rest of my life.

Is it just a remaster and the remake is a different thing or is this the remake called remaster? This has been getting rather confusing.

It's pretty sad they're still going with a remaster rather than remaking 2, especially now that they have the technology and the assets ready to be used.

I'll still play it.

I dont think they want to attemp a full on remake ever again after the shitshow with the first one. I just hope they do Deus Ex next. And release SiN for fucks sake!

Bioshock felt like a simplified version of this masterpiece almost on every aspect, but thankfully still had its own cool moments going for it.

I wonder how people who only played Bioshock will receive the System Shock 2 remaster.

Deus Ex would be great, there are some great mods like Revision and they could work with the community to turn them into a full release.

Nightdive does gods work with forgotten FPS and I think I prefer a remaster. Turok, Doom 64, Exhumed are the classic experiences with just about enough QoL improvements and very clear but authentic visuals.

There is still a lot they could potentially do, like SiN or No one Lives Forever. That era had some seriously great PC games.

They are doing Sin Reloaded, announced in 2020 but dunno what's taking so long to release it. 👀

One of my favorite game experiences of all time. Sad that this won't be a remake because whenever a game gets a remake it always looks like I remember the original looking. A remaster will likely look, to me, far worse than I remember the game looking.

Well for once i am just happy its coming.

Much better game anyways than 90 percent of todays output
That we can absolutely agree on. It's very easily the best "Shock" game (if you want to count the BioShock games, as different as they are, to the franchise).

I've played SS2 to the halfway point twice now. Never finished it. It's good still, and I'm sure was incredible at the time of its release, but it's hard to go back to the late 90s graphics and interfaces for an immersive sim when Prey and Dishonored exist. Tbh, I'm bummed they aren't giving it the remake treatment like they did with SS1.

Part of this remaster is making it controller friendly. How much, though? I dunno but let's give em a chance eh?

Ain't this supposed to be free for those that pre-ordered the SS1 remake?

Oh, Hype is deflated. Thought this has similar sort of work done as the first game. So is this mostly for consoles?

Because there are mods for this game that help with visuals.

Edit: Sigh.. kind of disappointing but at least folks on consoles can check out this excellent title.

If I ever get around to playing system shock 1 (remake) or this, I'll make sure to follow back up in this thread. Could be 15 years lol.

Seriously though I played BioShock 1 on Xbox 360 many years ago. Played part of BioShock 2, but never actually beat it.

Only imm sim I've played is Prey, and I thought it was better than BioShock 1 by a country mile.

They have taken their damn sweet time with this remaster. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce a SS2 Remake tease.
