Tales of Xillia Day 1 Edition (NA, EU), Collector's Edition (NA, EU) announced

The hell? The CE doesn't come with the costume DLC? That bites, if its like Graces F you can't even buy those on PSN period. Tempted to go with that edition and smaller artbook, cause I really could live without the Millia figure.

Regular Limited Edition is what I'm going with. The Milla statue is cool, but not worth the extra $40.

But if someone wants the DLC, I'll trade them it and the 52 page artbook for the 100 page one.

Looks like due to strong response, NA gets the Limited Edition of ToX http://www.siliconera.com/2013/05/30/tales-of-xillia-limited-edition-announced-for-u-s/

Glad to hear this. This one comes with everything the CE has barring the Milla figure (which I don't even want) for 60 bucks, so looks like I'm switching to this one instead.

Cool, I'll try to reserve it sometime soon then. No rush since the game's not out until August. Really would have been a perfect July title.

It's important to note that the US Limited edition is essentially our version of the Day 1 edition that EU is getting.

So ordering the normal on Amazon will get me the limitied edition? Kinda want to do this today, just want to make sure I get the CD and artbook.

Smaller artbook and dlc costumes. Its weird a $99 CE doesn't come with the DLC. Yeah, gonna be saving me some $40.

The OP seems to say it does.

OP said:
The collector's edition lists this as pre-order bonuses for EU:

Cress Outfit (Jude)
Cress Hairstyle (Jude)
Cress' Longsword
Stahn Outfit (Milla)
Stahn Hairstyle (Milla)
As well as a wallpaper and Icons.

And this is what the EU Namco store says:

CE gets DLC, LE doesn't.

The email response I got back seems to indicate that the costumes are exclusive to the LE and the CE won't get them.

Kinda seems odd that Namdai would screw over those who paid for the more expensive version, though.

What the hell Namco.

I don't even know what damn version I want anymore. Hell, I feel like the bigger artbook probably wouldn't be that amazing anyway.

From the Siliconera story:

Update: We’ve gotten clarification regarding the contents of the collector’s and limited edition of the game. From a Namco Bandai e-mail sent to Siliconera:

“The costumes, character profile booklet and music cd are exclusive to the Limited Edition, while the Milla Maxwell figure, art book and music selection CD are exclusive to the Collector’s Edition.”

Also it wouldn't be a big deal if later on I could buy said costumes, but they won't sell the preorder costumes, unless that gets changed for Xillia.

What?
So even the music CD is different between CE and Day-1? And now the artbook is not included in the Day-1 edition? Oh wait, their "character profile booklet" is the Day-1 artbook?

And this is really US only?

That's not clarification - it gets even more confusing.

Can you please ask them what the difference between "Day-1 music cd" and the "music selection cd of the LE" are?

Man, I really am thinking of just getting the Limited Edition set now.

I have no need for the Milla figure, the artbook probably wouldn't be any better than the Japanese artbook I have and I don't have much faith in the 'Music Selection CD' Scamco is putting out.

God, how can you ruin something so easy. :E

There must be something screwy with the news, or so I hope as it's really lame to have a more expensive version that doesn't have everything from the prior version unless it's an upgraded version (IE the music CD in the normal LE has fewer songs than the CE one.)

Does anyone know about the question about Amazon normal edition? If i ordered that right now, would that come with the CD and artbook? Doesn't say it does on the order page now.

Is that one sold separately? If so, please tell me what it's called. I would gladly buy that via bk1.jp and be done with all of that. Those music cds will surely not be the whole soundtrack anyway, so I would have to import that as well (I already did so for Tales Of Graces).

So, I've sent an email asking for clarification about the LE in terms of which retailers will be participating. I'll send an email later today about the costumes. In all honesty it seems odd that they'd lock out content in the more premium version of the game. My thought is that they'll offer the costume as a pre-order for the CE and the LE just comes bundled with it. Who knows. I'll send an email to NB later asking for clarification.

The PR guy said it wasn't tied to any in particular, so I that means at least Amazon and GS are participating.

Thx. Found it already.

Got a few bonus points left and it's just 1800Yen. 80pages yes.

EDIT: bought for 1670Yen :)

I hate how it sounds like the Limited Edition has the full soundtrack while the Collector's Edition has a selection of songs.

No way. Although it's Scamco.
Or maybe they got confused and it's actually the whole soundtrack for CE and a limited soundtrack for LE. At least that would make sense. And if it would really be the whole soundtrack for the CE, I may even bite.

EDIT: Yesasia lists the official soundtrack as 3CDs. (Tales Of Graces was 4 CDs). So I seriously doubt that they would include all of that in the LE. I even doubt that they include all 3 CDs in the CE. I guess it's 1 CD in each edition. LE will get maybe 8 songs and the CE will get a full CD, but still not the whole thing.

We do not know what any of the differences are in the music CDs.

This is just...wow.

How do you not give the more expensive version of the game the exclusive DLC [DLC that will likely be made available ONLY to those that pre-order]?

Well, I guess it's decided. I'll cancel the more expensive version and purchase the Limited Edition. I already have Alter's Milla, so I don't need the statue, the "Selection" CD will probably only have five or so tracks [judging from past selection CD's], and the artbook [while it would be nice] will obviously lack content from the full-fledged release. I might as well pick up the official artbook.

How could you make the purchase of Tales of Xillia any more complicated, Namco Bandai? ~_~

Having the costumes included in the LE and not in the CD sounds really stupid.
I really hope the codes aren't retailer exclusive (since I can't pre-order with GS or Amazon).

I don't get those at all. One of the things that annoy me the most this gen is retailer exclusive pre-order bonuses. Admittedly it's not as bad here in the UK where it's usually just one company. But I've heard horror stories from people in the US about how 5 different retailers each have their own exclusive content. So in order for a OCD fan to have everything, they'd have to buy the game from 5 different places.

If they're gonna do something like that, they should at least make it so the Collectors Edition (The most expensive version), will have everything, regardless of where you get it from

Am I missing something? Is the Limited Edition DLC really that big of a deal? I mean come on, we could just as easily not be getting anything at all, let alone a Limited & Collector's edition.

Yeah, considering its the only place to get it. They will never/ever sell it on the PSN. Its either get the LE or don't get costumes. The game from what I hear is lacking costumes in general unlike the other Tales of games.

Well the two DLC costumes are for two out of three characters who actually get costumes in-game so the DLC costumes isn't exactly that needed.

I just want it more than a damn Milla figure.

If the costumes really are just a first print bonus then there's a pretty good chance they will be included within the game case that's inside the CE box. I wouldn't just assume that whatever PR people you can get in touch with the day the actual LE is announced will know all of the little details.

It would be wildly inefficient to have to have two completely different manufacturing lines for the actual game cases just to limit the DLC to the cheaper LE.

You never know but I wouldn't freak out just yet.
