This makes me feel like a douche, but I just can't get used to the 30 fps I played MGSV at 60, then Witcher 3 at 60, then Deathwatch at 60 and then tried Xestiria.
Damnit.
Why is this game locked at 29 FPS for me?
It's actually 29,6fps.
So, i'm on PC, and i have some weird stuttering, like FPS drops, but fraps doesn't indicate that at all, its stay locked a 30 Fps!
What's up with this game? (GTX 980ti here, tried in 4k and 1080, same problem)
It's 29.2 for me.
I've noticed that if I equipped Free & Free, the camera problems are somewhat less problematic. Being on Free-run all the time reduced the camera wonkiness.
You could be experiencing the animation throttling that the devs left in the game from the PS3 version. The game lowers animation quality when there are a certain amount of enemies in combay or when moving objects are far away.
When/where do you get that? I always found the need to toggle free run in 3D Tales battle systems annoying.Yeah, free & free is such a blessing. Combat is way more fun with it.

The thing that pissed people off regarding Alisha was the way she was presented.
She was shown off very early in the promotional videos and teasers for the game alongside Sorey. They were the only two shown so it was assumed she would be the heroine of the game. Tales games often get figures made of them, but only the more popular/main characters get the best stuff. Jude and Milla, Vesperia characters besides Judith and Karol, Lloyd and Zelos and Collette, and so on. Sorey and Alisha were the pair to get figures (and this was before the game was even released!) so again, more evidence that they were the main pair.
Then, as the game's release got closer suddenly Alisha wasn't appearing in promo materials as much. Suddenly there were other females, namely Rose, who were being promoted more frequently. This made people worry. Then the game released and they found out what the deal was with Alisha and the perceived deceit caused the uproar.
I'm not that far into the game(8hoursish?), but from what I've played so far, they seemed to be really wanting Alisha to seem like she's more important than she is for the first hours of the game. So, I doubt that helped?Besides the figures, I think it's also related to this poster.
They do look great together indeed. I think I understand early followers' feelings and disappointment.
As a character, Alisha is just boring though, I agree. But I love her outfit.
they didn't even fix that? Welp... talk about lazy... (sure it's still great to have the game on PC... but man... hope they'll do a better job for the next games)
anyway thanks for the answer, that's probably that
I've only just started the game, due to getting Dragon Quest Heroes on the same day, so I'm still being introduced to systems, but I'm not seeing a way to see the total amount of grade I've earned so far.

Sorey looked way better before he put the cape thing on though, I might actually take it off even though I don't usually like taking a character out of their normal outfit. His basic design actually looks plausible/really nice to me.
On another note. Does anybody have the strategy guide from Prima Games? I want to platinum this game and like strat guides in general but was just wondering if anybody can attest to it's quality as I can't find any reviews online.
So far non of the skits come even close to the level of humor in Graces.
I got it quite a bit before then.Around level 10-12, maybe?
I'm not really sure, but iirc it's after the encounter withthe water spirit at the broken bridge.
Pretty much. I've always remembered mashing early on since you don't have many arts or party members to combo with.Finished what was obviously the two chapters of prologue and ready to start the actual journey! Looks fantastic on PS4. Would love to know who decided to disable all share features, though! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was something related to the PS3 because I can think of no other even halfway rational excuse.
Did I always have to mash circle this much at the start of each Tales game? I'm turning full auto mode on sometimes out of raw annoyance.
Though in past games X was attack and O was arts. Not sure why that was swapped at some point.
Changing the button layout so that X is Martial Artes and O is Seraphic Artes feels so much better.

It was swapped in localized games for awhile but they left it untouched here. You can easily switch it if that's your preference. I prefer the JP layout myself since I import the games and I'm more used to it.Pretty much. I've always remembered mashing early on since you don't have many arts or party members to combo with.

Can somebody fill me in on what exactly the Katz Trio and Super Star Trier DLC do? I see them in Battle Acts but still unclear as to their actual effect. I'm still near the beginning of the game if that makes a difference.

Not 100% sure where either, though.

I want to start this because my girlfriend is also playing it. Looks fun but I heard that you can only level up stats with items? Not traditional scaling as your Character Level goes up?
Is this true?
Stat boosting items are very prevalent so you increase stats that way too.i haven't actually checked my stats but I would assume the stats are determined by equipment and skill bonuses. Your HP doesn't increase either, only when you get a key item that increases it (usually from bosses).

Can someone explain titles to me a little more in depth? Like how specifically do they level up and should I be switching them around and if so, why? I see that they have skills associated that you can learn, but they seem to be changing before I even learn anything...

A: Each title has 3 ranks (as far as I know), Bronze, Silver and Gold.
B: The max level for titles is 5 for bronze and 10 for silver in most cases, I don't know what the max level is for gold yet.
C: Each title starts at Bronze rank when you get it. You can raise your various title ranks by doing just about anything (though I imagine each title has its own requirements). I've seen titles rank up from fighting Gigantos, story progression, sidequests, and even random battles.
D: You primarily level up your titles by gaining a level when they are equipped.
E: You can also gain title experience with certain foods eaten at an Inn. Generally, you will have to fulfill some in-battle requirement to gain the experience (like hitting a 50-hit combo). You can max out all your titles in a single run, theoretically, though it would probably take a lot of work.
F: You can inherit titles in NG+, according to the Grade shop list. I assume this carries over level too to make it easier to max them out, though I haven't started NG+ yet, so I could be way off base.

There's 10% chance that you can meet them in battle
Like aitakute said, 10% chance to encounter them in battle, and they can drop equipment.
I just forget there's no auto-attack, which is a little awkward. The FF Type-0 route of holding button for strings of normal attacks in an ARPG was good, as you could separate it out to vary attacks the same way you'd do combo out artes here.Pretty much. Hmm... I'm interested to see how this "you're literally Jesus from the beginning of the game, and you know it, everyone else knows it, and you're immediately expected to save the world" story plays out. It's so cheesy and over the top that's it's rarely laid out this bluntly in JRPGs! There's always at least a short phase of "nobody" or "sorta important" before getting your grand task. But nope. Day 1 here, and it's made blatant even before then. I mean, FFX went this route and the known story from the beginning was its primary weak point.

You'd think after many games I'd have remembered this! The combat is just soooo good once you start unlocking things and almost all attacks are geared toward combos that the idea of "normal" strikes never comes up after that.
