zen 2 is practically jaguar tier performance nowadays
so it's probably true
In all of the wrong ways, that is.Monster Hunter Wilds is pushing PC to its limits right now.
Respectfully, this is so disingenuous, that I’d be surprised if you weren’t kidding. Jaguar CPUs can’t render and support lumen, nanite, hardware ray tracing, nor higher frames like Zen 2 can and does.zen 2 is practically jaguar tier performance nowadays

The current gen consoles may be 4.5 years old now, but they are nowhere near outdated like the 8th gen machines were from day 1.
This game is as good as any 3d mario platformer to come out in years and is better than mario odyssey.

So many people do not understand what pushing hardware limits really looks like
If you lack understanding, sureso Astro Bot is the pinnacle technical showcase of PS5 huh

Astrobot running at locked 60fps.
Meanwhile technical sites with some other game: "this has to be 30fps because it needs to track all these potatoes, you also need to upgrade your PCs cause it's demanding"
Astrobot has some very nice physics and simulation going on under its charming exterior and they're talking about pushing all this on a low power CPU.
Lies! Heresy! Just because you got a good game and love Sony doesn't mean it's as good as the pinnacle of 3D gaming, Mario Odyssey. By any metric, reviews, user reviews, sales, ANY metric you can possibly imagine in your entire lifetime Astroboy is a pimple on Mario's Peach popping ass my guy. Sony needs to give Astro some moves next time to improve the gameplay for non-lames, and the non-stop playstation celebration is so cringe, like one big ad. Astro was great but has room for improvement. Odyssey is perfection defined. You know it to be true. The insecurity in your comment reveals it to be so.This game is as good as any 3d mario platformer to come out in years and is better than mario odyssey.

Clearly they didn't use CapGodAwful's optimization techniques.... Monster Hunter Wilds pushes even the Pro to its limits![]()
Moreso, Nvidia just dropped support for hardware PhysX in their recent GPUs, lol.I don't see any PC games with their supercomputer CPUs pushing the sort of advanced physics that Astro Bot does, so....
Depends on the narrative you wish to weave. Not sure if this should make me happy or sad tbh.
I don't care about fanboying for a plastic box, i have my own controversial narrativeDepends on the narrative you wish to weave.

lol, lmao evenI don't see any PC games with their supercomputer CPUs pushing the sort of advanced physics that Astro Bot does, so....
lol, lmao even
I hate saying stuff like "its not aparticularly impressive" because it technically is kind of impressive in some ways... i'll say though, astrobot isn't exactly pioneering anything here.
so Astro Bot is the pinnacle technical showcase of PS5 huh

How many others games, on consoles, pushed physics the way AtroBot did and at locked 60fps?
The first one is literally starfield. Those kind of blobby water effects came and went because there aint a lot of use to them. Even in astrobot its there mostly for visual fluff, since they could've just done it like portal 2 (and some would argue it looks better that way too)cool tech demos, now let's see it in a game

great game, you should try it!cool tech demos, now let's see it in a game
Aka, the game can do it without it even being intended. A much bigger flex than a game with especifically designed areas for it."dude type in a console command spawn tons of toilet paper lmao"
And it would've worked just as well with a "simpler" approach to fluid physics (with in fact levels where they did it since it would've been too much to do it entirely physically based), could've looked better too with some care since these blob liquids look weird without enough particles. And the example in the quote is literally a core part of the gameplay in one level.
I didn't say the PC games were not capable of doing good physics. I said that no games are using it. And they're not. Tech demos are just that.Aka, the game can do it without it even being intended. A much bigger flex than a game with especifically designed areas for it.
"just use a simpler opinion" - yea that's the point, they didn't have to. And don't diss the game just because it disproves your stupid point. And it would've worked just as well with a "simpler" approach to fluid physics, could've looked better too with some care since these blob liquids look weird without enough particles.
looks slightly worse than physx from two generations agoAstrobot has some very nice physics and simulation going on under its charming exterior and they're talking about pushing all this on a low power CPU.
Noita, Teardown, Beamng, KSP, Wreckfest, Besiege, etc. They exist, plenty of them, you just never bothered searching for them because you don't actually care. Don't try arguing they're "obscure" either cause these all sold in the same ballpark as astrobot, if not more.I didn't say the PC games were not capable of doing good physics. I'm not dissing the game, they did what they had to in order to achieve their vision and did it well. I'm dissing the people gushing over these effects as if its some kind of benchmark. There clearly is desperation for a "next gen" something to stoop that low."just use a simpler opinion" - yea that's the point, they didn't have to. And don't diss the game just because it disproves your stupid point.
You can do either. PhysX supports either in a lot of games and the games autoselect CPU depending on engine and hardware you have. They don't have a beefy CPU to pick up the slack. And no it doesn't look worse than Physx from the PS3/360 gen, don't be silly.looks slightly worse than physx from two generations ago.
theyre computing this on the CPU? why???
All the PC games you mentioned run on a system with a worse CPU than a PS5. Noita just requires a “dual core” CPU. KSP is on PS4 FFS.Noita, Teardown, Beamng, KSP, Wreckfest, Besiege, etc. They exist, plenty of them, you just never bothered searching for them because you don't actually care. Don't try arguing they're "obscure" either cause these all sold in the same ballpark as astrobot, if not more.

Comparatively it's technically 2x faster of the same "tier performance". Most PS4 games at the end of the gen were running at 30fps, most PS5 games are running at 60fps.zen 2 is practically jaguar tier performance nowadays
so it's probably true
Most of the games i mentioned are scalable, which is usually the case with physics-based games. KSP was on ps4 but ran like crap and had part limits. All the PC games you mentioned run on a system with a worse CPU than a PS5. Noita just requires a “dual core” CPU. KSP is on PS4 FFS.
To circle back, the point was for the smoothbrains who claim the PS5 CPU is “crap”, there aren’t PC games leveraging their awesome power to do amazing things that can’t be done with this crap CPU.
Well yeah, it's a glorified tech-demo.
Why do yall still take it as a negative? Why do yall still do this?
I'm talking relative performance
jaguar became a meme because high end desktop CPUs was 3x-4x faster than it. and guess what, high end desktop CPUs at the moment have started to become 3x-4x faster than a zen 2 cpu
and that is with 3600 having more cache and higher frequency than consoles (a 3700x wouldn't change this result much)
if something that is 3x faster than a 5800x launches tomorrow, I'd call 5800x a jaguar tier performance CPU too. just saying.
Man these most of you guys obsession with “high tech graphic” sucking fun out games for yourselves…….its no wonder most of you can barely enjoy any game and keep making threads about “gaming sucks now”.
Why do you guys do this to yourself?
But who care if it is pushing PS5 to limits or not, the fact it’s doing something fun with tech to give fun experience but no only thing GAF cares about is if it’s using ray tracing or hight texture or other nonsense.People without technical expertise gainsaying people who actually do have experience and insight, what maximizing resources on a given piece of hardware constitutes is embarrassingly stupid.
Well yeah. It shows. The amount of interactivity with the environment is fantastic. Some of you have forgotten that video games are supposed to be fun and whimsical sometimes.so Astro Bot is the pinnacle technical showcase of PS5 huh

For most people who obsess about graphics they care less about interactivity and more about they can take screenshots at their game to show off to say “oh look the game looks like CGI”.Well yeah. It shows. The amount of interactivity with the environment is fantastic. Some of you have forgotten that video games are supposed to be fun and whimsical sometimes.
