So now that the socks are paintable I broke down and bought Team Spirit and painted them.

Now if Valve made the Goggles misc and paintable, I would be happy.

Lol, I actually did the complete opposite of that. I traded all my money, energy, and materials for a TF2 hat. Didn't think I'd be playing SK again...
Edited my post for clarity. I want to get rid of my Spiral Knights stuff.
It's worth at least $3.50 in real money!

Why is stuff in the shop so expensive?

I guess it is fine if I consider it something akin to a donation box. Not like Valve needs any more of my money though.

The hats are expensive because they didn't want to piss off their community (and they like money)
However a portion of the money for all the fan-made items actually goes to the creators. When the store went up the people who made the first items got checks for like 16,000 dollars.

It's the penalty for not crafting/randomly getting it yourself. I'm fine with it personally, I don't mind giving Valve a few bucks whenever some cool stuff comes out.

On the subject of painting things, am I the only one that wants to paint my weapons? Having a pink as hell katana for the demoman would be awesome.

"Hm, there's a new hat, let's see what the Wiki has to say about it."

"Funny, that should be on the Kritzkast hat's page, not here."

Edit:
Unused Content

This hat has proper positioning for every class, including a "flipped down" version for Pyro, further its texture is located in the hats_allclass folder in the GCF.

I wonder why it's restricted to only Soldier, then?

According to the SPUF, the new Spiral Knights tf2 hat is tied to the Mission Accomplished achievement. It isn't awarded yet however (people have used steam achievement management only to get an error regarding that achievement). It doesn't take long to get the achievement either, I got it unexpectedly after I joined a random party in Haven traveling deep into the mines.

Hey guys, guess what? Frontier is an awful, and we should never play it.
I'm ok with Frontier every so often. I just wanted to play a round of swiftwater ;_;

is the blueprint for maul out yet?
or does someone have one for trade
I think it's the same as the three-rune blade. class token + melee token + scrap for a random chance. no non-random recipe as of yet.

i like how we've been using the hospital channel for like a year and all of a sudden some people think it's cool to invade it

IT'S NOT

Which means if you manage to craft one now, they might turn it into a Vintage like the last time.

Although maybe not, since it doesn't have any special stats like the others did.

Edit: Crafted one on my second try, nice.

People want way too much for that Maul. Don't pay more than one refined for that thing. I swear, the TF2 trade community is so stupid and think they can inflate the prices. I was looking for a Team Spirit paint and everyone told me that one refined was not nearly enough for a TS paint. Some guy wanted TWO refined. Luckily I found a sane person that traded it to me for one. It still blows my mind that stuff like Team Captain, Teddy, Villain's Veil etc. is going for seven or eight refined.

Because they're in demand, and there's not that many of them. It's reasonable. That's already lower than what people were asking previously. It'll continue to drop as more are found, and people get tired of their current ones.

Team Spirit paint is in heavy demand and not cheap to get. It's double the price of other paints in the Valve store (and I'm not sure it's tradable if you buy it from there), it doesn't drop like most of the other paints, and the most recent series of crate to have them, Series 15, only dropped from March 23rd until April 7th. The only other crates that had it were Series 7. That's on top of key cost.

so i heard tonight that a spy disguised as a sniper ALWAYS holds the sniper rifle? never the huntsman?
yes and no. I'm pretty sure it used to disguise spies with a huntsman, but somewhere along the lines it broke (probably the hatless update).

But yeah, currently spy snipers never have the huntsman.

I was able to troll some equally unskilled players as spy today (until the team got paranoid and spy checked like crazy. Stuff like randomly meleeing air and empty spaces) and a CaD dropped so I crafted myself a YER. Used it for awhile and I guess I see where it can be good, but I feel that disguises may be more useful overall and not worth giving up. Thoughts/Opinions?

Eternal Reward is much easier to use on defense and when you get good at it it's absolutely amazing at chain stabs. One tip, if you're chain stabbing with it and you get a slow disguise (like Heavy or Soldier) just stab the air to drop the disguise and catch up to your next target (assuming they're within striking distance).

In general I find enemies so bunched together that they'd notice their dead teammate, thus ruining my chance to chain stab. Either that or All Talk being on would basically ruin the surprise element.

I'll give YER more of a chance, especially since in the final phases of my late night game the enemy was spy checking so often that disguises did nothing for me.

*gasp* Tell me more.

Or don't.

I don't know if you're serious or not but there are hub towns similar to the PSO chat room things where you put a team together, I think the max here is 4 but I could be wrong. It was pretty cool starting out you're all by yourself and then you hit the first town and you see everyone walking around at the shops and whatnot. You beam down to mostly linear dungeon style areas and hack n slash at monsters while doing "have entire team stand on different buttons" style puzzles. It was ingenious when PSO came out, and might seem a little trite now, but the comparison is valid and I admire the game for it. I don't know what kind of different builds there are for your character yet, or if there is at all. Been playing too much Deus Ex to care :3

When you backstab someone with YER, the body disappears and the only indication that anyone died is from the kill icon.

Get good at spy with All Talk on and you will be godlike on servers without it.

The kill icon doesn't show for the enemy team (except for the person you killed) when you kill someone with the reward.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you collect metal for 3 years and are finally able to craft a spy fez, then you can use the fez + dead ringer + YER, which means that you can (as far as I know) dead ringer, literally decloak right behind someone, and it will be nearly impossible for them to hear you.

I think someone swore that using the YER already made the cloak sound quieter, but I don't think I ever had much success that indicated that was the case.

Is Steam down for anybody? Tried logging into community from the client but it's asking me to verify my humanity and there's no captcha.

[EDIT] Nvm, guess it's down for maintenance or something.

doh. blocked at work because of "TV/Video Streams". what is it?
Its literally TF2 with slightly asian-ified characters if it took place in the Onett stage from Smash Brothers.
Oh and it uses the same voice clips for "we have lost the control point" etc. Like...they found the .wav files and dragged them into their game.
