Held down the spacebar for a while and uncrated 8 unusuals after spending 1041 keys. 1041 * 2.5 = $2602.50, or $325.32 per unusual.
I also got 900 strange items, 45 regular hats, and 88 paints. Let's be generous and say that we sell each of those things for 1 refined apiece by spending way too much time in trade servers. That's 1033 refined. If we then managed to buy keys with those 1033 refined at 2.33 apiece, that's 422 keys purchased with refined metal. We can then sell those keys at $2 a pop on SourceOP to make back some of our money - so $844. Final cost: $1758.50, or $219.82 per unusual.

Can one of you fine gentlemen direct me to a good farming guide using multiple instances of tf2?
I know Cuban Legend had one up somewhere, but I can't find it now.
The links in the op already assume you know how to make multiple accounts, but none explain the nuance of managing such an animal. I'm a singer not a scientist! I need hats hats hats!
I believe this is the only way I'll get around spending more money on keys. I already have one alt that I just idle, yet I can't figure out how to trade between my two accounts.
