Technical and Graphical Gripes with Recent Nintendo Software

Well, Recent 'Published by Nintendo' Software.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
I wish they would have kept some of the stuff from the original Prime intact, instead of redoing (botching) it.

-Samus' model in Echoes, while more detailed, looks less human. The stand is almost always awkward and the bright colors of the suit make it look like it's made of plastic.

-Rolling out of a ball isn't as fluid in Echoes as it was in Prime. It seems very stiff now.

-The water in Echoes not only has a worse top texture, but it's no longer interactive. I don't understand why that's the case.

-The closeup of her face seems less detailed and less realistic. Something about her eyes looks plastic, unlike the first title.

Paper Mario 2
I really do enjoy this game, but slowing down the experience isn't fun for me.

-The load times between rooms in an area really slows down the entire experience and makes dungeons more of a chore. It seem that for a game so simple graphically they could load an entire area all at once so I wouldnt have to deal with black screens after each pipe warp. The Tree, for instance, would have gone alonge much faster and been so much less boring had I been able to zip through all of the pipes and walk seamlessly from one room to the next.

Anyone else have technical or graphical complaint of recent software?

PM:TYD has load time issues all around. There is way too much lag when bringing up the subscreen.

I disagree with your Echoes complaints, although it does have its own loading time annoyances. I thought they'd be able to iron out the situation of shooting a door and waiting five seconds for it to open...especially when you are waiting around in the poisonous atmosphere of Dark Aether.

You think the water is better and is interactive?
You think rolling out of a ball is more fluid?
Okay.

I agree about the door loading. Again, it would be nice if Each room around the one you're in would load while you're in it.

So are you saying it should look more like this?

umm.. wtf?!? am I in anal retentive world? load times on PM2????

:\ some people will complain about anything.

I can't comment yet on these games in particular, but Nintendo's definitely impressed me this gen. I don't usually care about the graphics as a whole; only something different. I'm sure just about every game is gonna be photorealistic one day, yawn.

Graphics I've been very impressed by this gen:

Luigi's Mansion - lighting
F-Zero - speed
Metroid Prime - attention to detail
Mario Sunshine - water effects and draw distance
Wind Waker - everything
Viewtiful Joe - style
GTA series (San Andreas in particular) - scope
Final Fantasy X - character models and FMVs
ICO, Prince of Persia - atmosphere

The load times are annoying. There is no getting around it. The subscreen is also an annoyance as someone previously mentioned.

I don't think the load times in PM2 are lengthy or annoying at all, and they are done well...the walls folding, for example.

The menu screen is annoying, though. Swapping characters should be a quicker process.

Loading times in PM2? What on earth are you talking about? I guess I should try the US version to see what you mean, but there's no noticeable loading times in the Japanese version.
