Tecmo Bowl Throwback Out NOW

Rosters from 1993... so I guess the rosters are based on the SNES/Gen version?

That means playing with the San Francisco team and not having to worrying about losing the game, Young to Rice, Taylor, Jones, and Watters all day

Ok, this is pretty much Tecmo Super Bowl (SNES) with new makeup. No Tecmo Bowl DS bullshit.

The gameplay is almost exactly the same. Might be a bit harder to do long runs. I also feel it's harder to throw really long passes. The QB often throw "behind" the open receiver, and he has to come back to catch the ball. It happened also in Tecmo Super Bowl, but not that often.

Also, IIRC, cycling between receiver was done with X in the SNES version. This time, it's the same button used for snapping the ball (A), which was confusing for me at first.

Also, in-game, at any moment, you can switch between the old visual (with black borders) and the new one. It's pretty cool.

If you have any question, let me know. Haven't tried online yet btw.

Both X (SNES Y) and A (SNES B) switch recievers, but in opposite orders.

Lots of quitters online which kind of sucks, but you seem to get the win and rating points.

The competition online isn't very good, but I'm a giant fan of the series and have been playing since the game came out. It's completely typical/traditional Tecmo Super Bowl.

Oh man, this game fucking rules. Tecmo Super Bowl is one of the best football games of all time, and the 3D to 2D effect is one of the coolest things ever.

BUY

Is this game exclusive to 360 for any certain amount of time? I would rather buy on PS3 but don't want to wait too long. Can't find an official PSN release date anywhere.

Apparently the PSN date is still "to be determined" according to Tecmo's twitter http://twitter.com/tecmogames

One would assume it's still coming. Maybe they're having a technical issue or maybe there's a limited 360 exclusivity period (though nobody has actual said that & it sounds kinda silly anyway, but?). I'd assume it's at least a few weeks away or they would have announced a PSN date by now...

I played a lot of Tecmo Bowl back in the day, I've always been a fan of simple and arcadey football games. I tried to demo and it was pretty damn fun, I wanted to keep going when the trial ended so I purchased it. I liked that it had the option for 8 bit graphics but it was unplayable for me mostly since it changes to 4:3. I'm looking forward to playing it after work, if anyone needs an online opponent him me up.

Still undefeated. So many ragequitters too. Actually had a guy stick with me and I won 39-0 even though I stopped trying. I finally got my achievement, thanked the guy for taking it like a man, and then got off

If anyone wants to play me some time, the gamertag is Jarate

I downloaded the demo last night since I download all demos of all games and seemed to miss this one. Since I had a huge abundance of space points from a previous deal on cards I decided to pick it up and ended up playing for hours last night.

I forgot just how much fun this game was. One thing that pissed me off though is in the demo I returned a kick off for a touchdown and didn't get the achievement once I opened the full game :(

Probably 30 day exclusive, like most shit now a days.

Although that crappy tecmo basketball game was like a 3mo exclusive.

Wow oh wow is this game fun.

<hyperbole> Kind of makes me wonder why I bother with Madden. </hyperbole>

Seriously, though, I am halfway through a season on this and have definitely had more fun than I thought I would. I'll play a whole season no doubt.

The difficulty level seems good too. I have won most of my games, but did lose a couple when I kind of sagged offensively. Playing with Philly, who's good, but not great.

Love this game!

Dear Tecmo.

Please release this outside of the Americas. I want to give you my Allards.

Regards,

Me.

What a disappointment online. First game was so laggy I couldn't throw the ball and the second one the other player would take the right bottom DE and run him in the gap between the center and guard every play. Did he think I wouldn't notice a 20 year old exploit?

Too much information.

I tried the demo for this. It seemed pretty faithful and fun. Not sure if I want to get this or Afterburner next, though.

I've been making my way through a season as San Fransisco, this game really is a lot of fun. It's not one of the all time greats on XBLA but I like to put on a custom soundtrack and enjoying the addictive simplicity of it. Definitely a good buy, So is the DS version like the same thing? If so, I'll have to pick it up, this would be a great portable game.

Looks like it's being released on PSN today or tomorrow.

I hope maybe somehow the lag experienced when you're not hosting a game is fixed. If not, the game continues to be broken at a really basic level.
