Ted Cruz dropping out per Campaign Manager

From the head of the RNC
Yeah... Time to stop messing around. Sanders needs to drop out, so the D's can do the same. Now. I mean, the electoral map is unfavorable to Trump, but that isn't something that should be risked at all. And that's not touching on down ticket races at all. With this, the R's have informally just wrapped up their nomination process so the D's need to do the same.

As someone who spends too much time on free republic its been interesting watching the rise and fall of Cruz.
Everyone was sure he'd be the nominee and he had the whole conservative movement behind him then along comes Trump who was dismissed by everyone at first.
At the beginning he was the outsider coming to "bring America back to its constitutional origin" and now at the end most his supporters abandoned him and everyone thinks he's nothing but the establishment puppet controlled by wall street and the elite of the gop.

But hey at least he's got a experienced person around to help layoff his campaign staff.

For those of you liberal gaffers that think Trump is just as bad, you are sorely mistsken. I am a Republican, but found Cruz to be an ultraconservative religious nutjob that was a nasty sonofabich to boot.

Most people did. Boehner is Boehner but you don't hear quotes like those about your typical candidate. Cruz came off as vicious and scary. I think the majority of the Cruz support was just panic-stricken GOP lifers desperately voting to spite Trump and thinking their harebrained scheme would work.

Oh my god....

Where does this even leave Kasich now? And will this affect Cruz's career in the Senate much? His campaign at least had some success unlike Rubio's.

I've never read a tweet with more #contempt than that

Still can't believe this is actually happening. No way in hell Trump wins the general, sorry, but no way.

My father, a staunch conservative, just texted me #NEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERTRUMP. In fact I know several conservatives who have said they would vote for Hillary in this matchup.

GOP so fucked

I admit I distanced myself from politics in the last few weeks.... what the hell happened.

Trump just kept winning and winning. Now with Indiana, he's just 200 short of the nomination, which is virtually impossible to lose even if Cruz was still running.

Trump is going to actually be the nominee.

I mean, I expected him to the nominee, but now that's it happening...

...what a time to be alive.

Lol, Kasich is like "no, wait guys, I'm still in this! I'm still in it!"

Nah you ain't.

Delusional. The best thing they can do is outright denounce Trump. Hitching onto his wagon is just going to make them look even worse.

He's not going to get a lot of moderates, a good chunk of staunch conservatives and any of the "lesser evil" libertarians who voted GOP.

GOP is indeed done.
