TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

What are you guys using as a guide for T7? I know YouTube is a great place for character breakdowns. But I'm looking more for text breakdowns. I used to check the tekken zaibatsu forums but it seems pretty dead now.

There's no good ones in english yet I think. Even the frame data is iffy listing nonexistant moves or "?". Best thing is youtube at the moment and watching koreans and japanese for actual practical match stuff and steal tech from them.

For you.
Does anybody else has a 100% crash after the last patch when saving a customized character? When doing the photo to save i get a error sayinh "Unreal engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost"

Does anyone know of any abbreviated movelist for this game? As someone who doesn't play 3D fighters, the movelist in practice mode is just daunting, but then I hear some people say you don't really need all the moves you just need to know the BnBs, but I've no clue which moves that would be.

There's a site that has people's opinion of the top 15 moves for each characters. It's helpful for beginners to start, but you shouldn't rely on just these moves but it's a good start.

Once you get a feel for the character you can incorporate the rest of their moveset.

This is perfect thanks. I just want to get a taste of everyone, but no way I'm going through each character's entire movelist. Right now I only know Asuka from TTT2, but I want to branch out.

For all you Hwoarang players and aspiring ones out there, Maddogjin was streaming T7 today, I believe it might have been his first stream. He's a legendary and creative Hwoarang player, learned a lot from half hour or so I watched him. I don't know any other high level Hwoarang mains other than Speedkicks and he barely streams. Hopefully Maddogjin streams a lot.

His twitch name is Maddogjin1

Okay buffered throws elude me in actual matches. Practice most of the time I get them, in match nope. Doing the motion way too soon and way too fast, can't seem to untrain myself from doing a fast half circle motion.

I'm a blue rank now! I kinda don't totally suck!

Also how do you tech King's grabs?
I lose a lot to King due to not knowing.

Each grab has different button combos you need to hit to counter them, means you gotta practice a ton of trying to recognize his hand positions when he grabs you to break them.

It's really rough.

Whats the point of Gigaseses stance where he charges at you? Does it have armour? Used to gain ground after a big knockback? The attacks out of it seem slow and easily telegraphed

I'm always getting destroyed at the wall. any tips?

When you are trying to backdash away, remember not to overdo it, sort of like Street Fighter, how a charge character tries to conserve how much space they walk back when playing defensive. Also try to sidestep so you angle your back away from the wall, and try to tech roll in a way so you don't back yourself into it.

There is also a wall jump characters can do, though what they do varies per character, ex. Asuka does a punch off the wall and Ling flips off it. The command is b,b,ub. Might help you since you are invincible going up but you can be hit out of it while getting off it. So don't overdo it.

Decided to try a new character, picked Kazumi. She was a lot more simple than I was expecting, pretty straight forward character. Still don't have the timing of her juggles completely down, but doing pretty good with her for first day. I love her df+1+2 throw though, downright deadly near the wall.

Don't get in there

I meant to say when I'm getting carried to the wall in combo then I get wallsplatted, I don't know what to do to escape. it's like I can't defend against anything after a wallsplat :/

Don't do it raw, it's only useful after the charged attacks.that leave them knocked down or in a long blockstun.

I just got Tekken 7 today, last tekken game I played was Tekken 3. But watching tekken tournaments for a while, I became obsessed with korean backdashes, so the first thing I did was practice it, it took me 6 hours but I can finally do korean backdashes consistently. I was looking at the notations and I didn't understand it, because I thought that you had to tap b b twice then db to cancel it then b b, but you only need to do it at the start, then go db, b (for standing block) n b, which then activates the backdash and then you just loop it. But I was backdashing really small distances, then i realised that you have to hold back the stick to get big backdashes. Fun time learning kbd I haven't got the muscle memory down, but I think it's not that useful to a complete beginner like me, because I don't know how to apply it, time to actually learn the game and the 3d movement because it's not street fighter.

Didn't realize you could buffer the second backdash, thanks for this input!

Most characters can not wallsplat from a low when your back is against the wall. With that in mind you want to stand block more than usual. The strategy to get away from it is to sidestep or sidewalk as safe as you can to put the wall at your side. There are character specific things you can do such as finding attacks you can use that push the opponent off of you or throws that can switch positions with your opponent.

It is not the end of the world when your back is against the wall, and often times you can use the opponent's increased aggression against them.

If you are wallsplatted and on the ground against the wall. Stay down until they hit you on the ground, then you are allowed to techroll (press punch or kick upon landing to get up quickly). A cool head in such a position is the best, because people work out some nasty mixups for people who are too eager to get up.

Paul sway Motion makes it hard to do Korean backdash, but i will keep on practicing till i perfect it.

Yeah I love his style but he seems...shitty. Are there any good Gigas players I can watch?

The only one I know of is King Jae. I'm unsure if he's mad good or just above average, but you be the judge.

I like Gigas a lot once you customize him. He just aint no Marduck. :(

MarDOOK is definitely who I would main if he was in the game. No questions.

Gigas just doesn't scratch that itch enough.

Now I'm a lucky chloe player so far. Almost about to get out of Grand Master purgatory. I need a real main though. Lucky Chloe only blows up new players like me who have no clue wtf she's doing.

I have hardly had time to play this and it's driving me nuts. Got a few hours in this morning and finally settled on a character and was ready to go online a bit. So fucking fun. This game is truly excellent.
