I'm loving the game with the fight stick! I instantly improved execution on the basic strings and combos I'd been working on last night. Granted I have muscle memory for the stick layout from playing a lot of SF and MKX on my old stick. Movement will take a bit as I've not played a 3D fighter with a stick so not used to side stepping and need to learn back dash cancels (that was true of pad play as well).

The Hori Tekken Stick is very nice, other than not being a big fan of the Hayabusa buttons. Too plasticy and very loud. Ordered a set of Sanswa Denshi Silent buttons to swap in so I don't bother my fiance when she's working in the next room. You can even hear the buttons on the other side of the house even when not mashing hard when there's not other noise.

Otherwise, I like it a lot more than the Chun Li TE 2 I had. It's a tad smaller which I like and I think I like the feel of the Hayabusa stick more than the Sanwa ones in the TE2 (though obviously I can't do a side-by-side comparison. Also, while harder to mod than the simple pop open TE2, at least it's solid and not creaky like the plastic and hinges on that were and I'll probably only open it up the one time to pop in the buttons. I think I'm fine with the square gate--I never gave it a chance on the TE2 as I popped in the octagonal one day one.

Oh my god, I've been "playing" for 90 minutes and I've only had 2 matches, both with stuttery as fuck connections. It's practically unplayable at this stage.

Kill me now, please.

Tried doing some ranked matches, got ''connection lost'' 10 times and said fuck it. : (

In other news, Shaheen is really fun.

Had a fun night playing with my new fight stick. Mostly got bodied online, but did better in treasure battle.

Torn between maining Asuka or Katarina at the moment. Generally like the former better, but the latter seems a tad easier to play.

Man, Claudio is kinda boring. I feel like I'm just doing the same two moves.

Doesn't help that all his unique customization items are super camp. It's impossible to make him look cool lmao. Gonna pass on this character. Needs a few sequels to round out his movelist.

The camp customisations are why he's cool, Claudio is fabulous as fuuuuck <3

Any other characters that are similar to Feng looking for recommendations on a new character to bridge to.

Feng is a fairly standard sort of a character.

I'd say if you like the hard hitting single attacks but moreso, go to Paul.

If you prefer using stances, go Leo. She shares strong lows, simple combos with Feng

Both characters are pretty easy to pick up and be effective with at any level.

Why can't they implement that fight request method in this game like SFV and and SF4? I want to play treasure battle or arcade mode while waiting for opponents instead of doing nothing sigh :(.

Hell at least let the freaking training mode in the waiting room have all the training mode features

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
I continue to get destroyed by Paul players. He's like kryptonite to me in this game- I don't know what it is.

Yea. I hate that shit. Let me have fight request from the training mode. Or at least carry over whatever training settings I had set to the warm-up area.

please explain to me how can someone get to Mentor rank with only 7 wins? I don't understand this ranking system

I think it's per character.

The rank stays, but the number of per character wins changes?

Anyways, demoted someone and beat someone else when we both had promotions. Felt good.

Lost to a player playing someone I've never fought before, then won the run back. Felt gooooood.

I just need to learn more blockstrings and such.

One thing I'm kinda not feeling is that when you reach warrior rank online, it straight upgrades all of your characters to grand master, which means that learning new characters by taking them online for a spin is going to be way way harder.

Please don't tell me it's gonna upgrade ranks like this when you reach even further.

What happens is that the game upgrades the ranks of other characters for you when you reach certain ranks. When you reach 1st dan, it upgrades every character to 1st dan. When you reach brawler rank, it upgrades every character to 3rd dan. And when you reach warrior (which is 12 dan), it upgrades everyone to grand master.

So they could've played a different character and then switched characters. The wins are also per character.

It's to stop people smurfing, and it's a great implementation.

I get it now, thanks for the explanation.

Matched up with a spamming Lee against my Lars last night and was actually able to put my practice to the test. Hell, maybe it was the beer, but I didn't get as nervous as usual and kept edging this Lee out with pokes and the occasional whiff punish. Actually winning for once felt SO GOOD. and then I got completely wrecked by a Bryan, but eh, I'm learning. This game is way too much fun.

Nah, what prevents smurfing is having to pay for PS+/Live or having to buy T7 for every account on Steam.

This is kind of overkill. How good I am with Lili is not a reflection of how good I am with Akuma. At all.

I've still got the ranked match list on PC, they removed this thing on PS4 ages ago.

They removed it for a few days and then put it back for whatever reason.

I don't think that's true. If you have good fundamentals, movement, matchup knowledge, and reaction times, you're instantly better than everyone at low ranks. The rest is just learning each character's buttons and combos, and that's the easy part. Anyone who's actually good at Tekken would destroy people at lower ranks with any character after 30 minutes in the lab.

Someone with a lot of experience with the game in general (high rank on their mains) is still going to own us noobs with other characters as they have the fundamentals down while we're still learning. No fun going up against Tekken experts at rank 1 even if they don't know the character their trying.

Made it to 1st Dan with Asuka. I know it's not much but I am happy :)

After struggling for months with SF V, I feel like Tekken is a lot more up my alley.

Wait is it King only who has that or other characters too?
Only King. That outfit was a crossover with New Japan Pro Wrestling, based on a real wrestler.

Said wrestler is fucking dope btw, and has had 2 legendary matches with Kenny Omega, the Bullet Club guy you've probably seen at tournaments.

Well said and as Tekken OG I have to agree.
