Played a shit ton of Miguel and Asuka yesterday on pc. Man, about FUCKING TIME a fighting game releases on pc without any issues! It runs so smoothly on pc! Good shit Namco

But I think I'm doing something wrong with the combos, looks like I'm doing everything slower than I should. Like for example Asuka's 3rd demo combo (1+2 then ff 2 3 I think): I can NEVER get the ff 2 to connect, is there some trick to get it?

Quite disappointed at the roster. Also, King barely had any new moves added since Tekken 4. I'm sure this is the case with most characters. I counted 2-3 new moves excl.
rage moves (might not even be new).

King's command list was 143 long in Tekken 4 and pretty sure it's 170+ in this one.

It's probably just strict timing. You can always do an easier, less damaging combo. General rule is df+1 after launcher, that works for pretty much every character.

So I've just played the story mode, played some decent amount of treasure battle (got to 2nd Dan) and played a few matches online.

My initial reactions of the game are:

Holy fucking shit, why I have not gotten into this series sooner. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for from a fighting game, an honest 1v1 situation where spacing and movement matters more than mixups and setups and bullshit and projectiles and etc etc.

It was such a fucking rush, spacing myself so that I'd be outside of range of Law's wakeup kick and then punishing with my own stuff.

I still have 0 idea on how to play this game PROPERLY but I am ready and willing to put in the time.

It also helps that the game just FEELS so damn fun. Every hits feels like it lands and the slow-mo + closeup on hard hitting moves just adds to that feeling of impact.

Honestly this is why I decided to buy it. I have been waiting for this series to come to PC for the longest time. Luckily Bamco is on a role in that regard as of late.

Btw, what's the input lag like on PC compared to PS4? (which is 120.1ms (7.2 frames))

Strings into launchers really isn't a thing in this game. d/f+2 is his fastest launcher. qcf+2 and f+1+2 when whiff punishing from afar. qcb+2 you probably shouldn't play with until you know what you're doing.

you pressure a lot with pokes and running 2 (fff+2). Running 2 gives a lot of plus frames on block and is a counterhit launcher

d+2 is his best low. It tracks well and on counterhit, it gives a lot of plus frames

qcf2 is good for whiff punishing at a range if the opponent whiff a slow move. its very punishable on block. QCB2 is your YOLO launcher you do when youre about to die since it has a built in backsway AND it crushes high attacks

Thanks. I've also been having a lot of success with his B12 string. It's fast and seems to move his hitbox back. No idea how +/- it is on block, but I haven't been getting punished for it.

that story mode was ass. The fights themselves with the exception of the last one, were pretty damn fun and well executed. But that was one budget ass Story mode.

This is exactly why I'm not a fan of story modes in fighting games. They suck up large chunk of the development budget yet the return is often incredibly small.

It makes no sense, barely includes most characters.

Worst of all, it's terrible for newcomers. It doesn't play like actual Tekken half the time. It's an awful learning tool. The special match is horrendous as well.

The character stories are no replacement for well direct arcade endings.

Again, get the idea of strings out of your mind. Single hits pokes are way better. d+2, d/f+1, d/f+4, fff+2, b+1+2 are all solid with Drag. Against humans, try something like d+2 or d/f+1, ss into d/f+2. Basically bait, dodge and launch.

Learning the last few sample combos for any character is always a good start. That's reliable damage.

Yeah, Story Mode's quality is part of the reason I'm waiting to jump in. Not happy that they focused on that at the expense of a mode/modes that might have more lasting value, especially to the huge percentage of the cast that isn't featured.

Asked a few pages ago but didn't get an answer: Since I have limited playtime this weekend (and story bosses seem to be a chore) I would rather skip story mode and make the most out of the regular modes. Does story mode give some kind of rewards (costumes or something)?

It's even little things. Like the Alisa fight in story mode. She spams chainsaw sidestep. What would you normally do against someone spamming that shit? Homing move. It's what the game should teach you to do. But no, she's immune while sidestepping because let's make the game harder at the expense of actual mechanics!

I knew the Mishima saga wouldn't end. Tekken 8 kills Kazuya, Tekken 9 kills Jin, Tekken 10 everyone returns &#128529; Also Kazumi being a Devil was stupid too and her inclusion did not amount to anything considering how prominent it felt in the original trailer.
