TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

So I installed the game, including 1.01, and yet when I go to the main menu the online option is greyed out, and tells me the game is installing. Nothing is installing, I've checked 3 times.

I believe you can only encounter Akuma or Kazumi as a boss in arcade mode, though you can have a special match with Jin in treasure battle.
I've fought demon kazumi multiple times in Treasure Battle but I have no idea how I activated it

It might have different requirements than in arcade because I definitely wasn't performing poorly

So I got Kazumi finally in Arcade Battle, here's how I did it.

  • Lost every match before Heihachi
    [*]Lost one round to Heihachi
    [*]No perfects or RA's

And with that, I got all my achievements! \o/

Happened to me too, it's still installing. It just doesn't show on the screen. Come back in like 10-15 minutes and everything will be there.

It's a random battle when you get on a win streak (same as special condition battles), I've had Kazumi as low as 4 wins.

I Wanna Be The Guy

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
How in the actual fuck am I supposed to beat this fight in story mode? The game gives me hardly any health to start, part way through the fight the opponent is given the ability to not flinch at any attacks rendering any combos useless, and on top of that they have rage art available which will kill me instantly if it lands even if I've taken no damage prior. What the actual fuck?

I believe in Treasure Battle it's random, and
after you complete story mode you unlock the possibility of encountering Akuma(?), Heihachi, and Jin in special matches.

OK so I need some recommendations for who to play. I read through that character overview guide and watched the video but it didn't really clear too much. Basically just shortened it down to like 4-5 characters.

I want to play someone with good defense and punishment. Offense isn't that important to me, and while decent pokes are nice they're not the main thing I care about.

So far I'm looking at Asuka, Alisa, Leo, Jin and Josie as possible character choices. I've mainly been playing Katarina but to be honest, she's just not gelling with me. Solid character and the lack of any real execution is nice while learning the game but I just don't enjoy it.

So I need a defensive character to pair along well with the character I've been planning on maining since I first saw him. The StarBurstKid, Claudio.

So which 1 or two characters from those 5 characters above have the best punishment tools?

You can sort of play characters how you want, so the criteria for what you're asking for kind of applies to all of them. Josie has pretty strong punishment. Try her.

Leo and Jin suffer the same problems imo...hard to find opening
They can do real damage and punishment but little entry options.

Fair enough. Guess I'll just have to spend time with the ones that I think are most fitting and stick with whoever I end up liking!

That's good to know. They do seem like rather well-rounded characters.

Asuka has probably the best whiff punisher in the game with her f+2. You can just play defensive with her all day and wait for them to whiff stuff. But she's kinda low execution like Kat, so if you're looking for something more rewarding try Jin maybe.

Alisa is a very offensive character. Well, all the good Alisa's I've seen never stop doing moves ever lol. You can play anyone defensively I guess.

Josie has excellent punishment. D/f+2 is a very solid generic launcher that's not too bad on block, she has a hopkick and orbital heel to crush lows, cd2 is great for whiff punishing, etc. She's pretty easy too, you just have to learn which strings go into crouch dash to get good conversions off juggles.

Thanks, that's good to know. Asuka did seem to be the one that kept sticking out to me, a lot of her tools seemed to function well defensively.

Still, gonna try and test out all the characters before coming to any conclusion.

This game's combat is extremely unintuitive so far. Doing the main story, and I'm stuck already on claudio. Nothing seems to combo and blocking is fucking impossible

Claudio having bullshit moves that doesn't get interupted by getting hit certainly doesnt help either

Uh what? You're going to have elaborate a lot.

Story mode also has some rule breaking elements so I wouldn't take it as a good representation of the actual combat.

Was supposed to have the game on friday to play over the weekend but I think USPS lost my package. Makes me think about going all digital.

Story has a lot of cheap boss versions of characters.

Claudio does a lot stuff that normal Claudio can't do.

Friendship ended with Hwoarang. Now Law is my best friend. No but really, Law rocks at cheesing the CPU and there's a ton of crap I need to unlock!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the slow-mo is one of the best additions to a fighting game I've ever seen: https://gfycat.com/JointThreadbareIcelandgull

Does he have white particles coming out of him, and does he just armour through your moves? Yeah, that's called a Power Crush move. Every character has those. You can absorb mid and high attacks, but it gets beat by throws and low attacks.

To block, block holding back. This isn't street fighter where you mostly crouch block and stand block in certain situations, it's kinda the opposite here.

And take advantage of the story mode assist buttons if you're really having trouble. As others mentioned, story mode does break a lot of the game's rules.

maybe tomorrow it rains
Played some PS4 matches with Dubz. I'm on the east coast, he's on the west. It went perfectly. Everything was responsive, we were both able to react and punish. Felt great.

I haven't even attempted to ranked, but for now I'm okay with player matches.

So I wanna pick up this game because I've always been a Tekken fan, but I hear the online is fucked. The smart thing would be to wait for it to be fixed and then buy it right?

So how do you defeat
Akuma
in the special chapter ? Even on easy difficulty, he keeps teleporting all the time and blocking almost everything I throw at him (sometimes I can get a combo through, but I don't even know how I did it).

Every character has an armor move (or two) like Claudio's.

Generally the only way to do combos in this game is to launch them in the air first. So you have to learn which moves do that. Otherwise just learn a few reliable moves and you'll get through story mode. Story assist does this for you pretty much.

If you're not enjoying story mode then pick a character you like, go into practice mode and play around with them. Put the game on easy and play some treasure battle with the moves you learned. It'll make sense after a while.

BTW I'm not port begging since I'm neck deep in this game on my platform of choice, but... I want a portable version too ;(

You defeat cheese with cheese mang. If you have any good low to mid combos, abuse them. or if you have a laser or projectile of your own those are nice too.

For tekken you should be looking for single strikes and opening opportunities for throws rather than focusing on strings. You've got to readjust your mind and stop thinking of it like a 2D fighter

*cries in "You are naht good e-nough!"*

Lei's weird english voice which goes from perfect American voice to super rough obviously not english speaker is always hilarious

For blocking, primarily block standing in Tekken. Most lows don't lead to much on normal hit. The lows that do start juggles tend to be really slow and reactable.

Some combo strings only combo on counter hit so keep that in mind. Find quick strings that do and focus on punishing moves that look unsafe. Everyone has a jab string that's 10 frames that combos for example, so that's a good place to start.

I hear it's only f'd on PS4.

The online on the PC version has been fine, really good from my experience actually. Xbox One is fine as well apparently.

Whoops. My bad.

I sincerely apologise to those that saw it w/o intending on looking at it.
I saw it and I demand compensation for my troubles.

Planning on playing Persona 5 soon but I know my shitty memory will have forgotten that image by the time I do.

Well, I'll say this. I got it spoiled and it in no way hindered my enjoyment of that game.
