Please expound
being able to do nothing but watch other people play Tekken 7 on Youtube for more than half a year

somebody has your favorite food right across from you at a table, and all you can do is watch them slowly devour it over and over again like "mmmm"

for half a YEAR

Probably the funnest thing about Fighting Games is discovery. That discovery period and the sense of conquering the unknown is where a good deal of the enjoyment comes from.

By the time we get to play this most of the things will already have been figured out and the mysteries will all have been solved.

But ah well, it's the struggle of being a Tekken fan in N.A.

I can only hope to the heavens Tekken 7 will have as many variables and complexity as Tekken Tag 2 still leaving plenty of room for more discovery when we eventually get our hands on it in around a years time. But from the direction we're seeing it go I'd only be setting myself up for a disappointment to be honest.

People still hang onto their non-smartphones for two reasons: photographing UFOs and recording Tekken arcade footage

they're like

"I need everyone in this building to form two lines. One line, walk in front of my camera. The other line, walk behind me and bump into my arm while I hold up the camera. Be as loud as possible"

So then.

Is the general consensus that the PS4 shall be able to emulate it perfectly?

Because that would be enough reason to keep mine.

LOL, hopefully now with a public arcade release we can get direct footage
at 240p.

It's going to be like old days of TEKKEN (which I prefer). That time release!

The time release for T5 was a crazy time. When Heihachi finally came out, the community went all crazy.

T4 Jin had a cool title screen change and lots of confusion with his move changes.

I hope T7 has the same kind of awesome unlocks.

...I'll hold onto it for a while, and hope.

You keep asking but we know about as much as you do at this moment in time.

I think personally though that it only makes sense for the hardware they are using as a base for the game to be pretty modest. Maybe even in comparison to PS4 as well.

If they have to be using a third party engine instead of their own like they have always been doing, it seems like they are on a strict budget, which probably also means no splurging on hardware either.

Yes! Time release is hype. I remember sitting around all day waiting to find out the time release characters for TTT1 on the official webisode and Tekken Zaibatsu. It just wasn't the same in Tekken 6 when they removed it.

And the two year wait starts :/
The first and only time we waited 2 years for a Tekken home release was Tekken 6, Tag 2 took one year, and so did every other Tekken game that is not Tekken 6. Hopefully Tekken 7 will follow in Tag 2's footsteps.

RIP Jin the "John Cena" of Tekken
RIP Nina/Anna and don't worry because chain throws are under control
RIP Marduk and thanks for that f+2 string

all the threats have been eliminated

#JaguarZaibatsu #JaguarCorporation

For all we know, Jin is still the main character.

They're still saving Nina/Anna (i.e. the best for last).

They revealed the cougar first to get it out of the way. :)

You could just not watch any footage until console release and live in a cave until then. :p

Where's my man Lee, Harada, wheeeeeeeeeereeeeeeee???????????????

I'm pretty sure these guys learnt from their mistakes with 6 and the console release won't be too far away. Giving the arcades a 6-10 months headstart sounds reasonable.

Hope this is the last Tekken with an arcade release. They should quit that dying business and go straight for console releases.

At this point I should prepare myself to see the exact same intro and winning animations too.
Eh, I don't know.

Not way Paul is not old Ken with Polnareff's hair.

That's what alts are for anyway.
It's the moveset that's iconic. The characters design should evolve with the narrative. It's something Tekken used to do every game from 1995-2004. Coincidentally when Tekken was magnitudes more popular.

Aris's comments about the advertising on ATPLive 2 weeks ago is really spot on IMO. NRS reveals a trailer and everyone gets hype seeing evolved designs, brand new animations, and really cool cuts. Namco reveals something and it's hardly anything to get excited about. They're doing some of the worst marketing for such a big title I've ever seen. Last cool thing we really got to see was the new post apocalypse and snow stage. Other than it's things we can see and do in Tekken revolution except the Supers. Even in the topic of supers, the only character that has something that looks like a new animation for it is King.

Now with the character select CG reveal it basically confirms our fears that everything was gonna be recycled except Kazuya/Lars.

When are they gonna show something that'll get me hyped again :(

I'd say their last chance is when footage of the full arcade release proper comes out.

Also, I would argue that the Tekken 6 marketing was way worse. The commercial that just about always came on for the game was just footage of the game's box along with a voice over talking about relieving the 9-5 worktime stress with Tekken.

That was seriously it.

If someone told me this was a pc ultra high mod of tekken 6 i would believe them. I kinda wish harada would stop recycling some of the easiest things you can update. Tekkens problems are very similar to what the gram turismo series has: stale and afraid of change.

Not only will mkx outsell this game by atleast 2:1 on every platform, it will also have a larger competitive fan base and a greater critical reception. Harada says he wants to expand the audience and one way was lucky Chloe. he's going about it completely wrong, and it's heartbreaking to see one of my favorite franchises do this. Fucking. Heartbreaking.

Maybe Namco will update T7 costumes/CG poses with an update, like they did for T5DR.

DR wasn't an update either... it was just a palette swap with different colors. What I want is an evolution like what we had in Tekken 1 through Tekken 4:
There is one thing boutdown is doing that Namco isn't... it's finally coming up with some fresh new designs to the cast. I mean look at this:

Sometime I think Tekken 4 scared the Namco Tekken team TOOO much. Now we have:

Yeah... I wish Namco would get the hint that you have to attract people with BOTH the aesthetics and gameplay. Just dumbing down the mechanics isn't the only thing that'll make people want to play. It has to look fresh and like a brand new experience.

It's always surreal to think that I live in an era where Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive are in a healthier position than Tekken. My 20 year old self would laugh in the face of anyone who'd tell me that would be the situation in just 5 years.
