Please, please, PLEASE keep all of the bonus content, such at outfits, "free" and unlockable, BamCo.

Don't do us like Cacpcom.

If they do, I swear... I don't know if I'll buy the game first-hand.

I might make my first used purchase in 15 years, just to spite them.

Namco - keep it real.

Well, we're all out of luck. Harada did that with TTT2, it sold like shit and in an interview he said Namco will mandate paid DLC from now on.

And based off Lost Souls and Tekken Revolution prices, along with the buckets of money Team Ninja is swimming in with DOA5, prepare to be gouged.

No one's fault but ours honestly. They did everything and then some with TTT2 yet people wouldn't give it the time of day unfortunately.

Where's my man Lee, Harada, wheeeeeeeeeereeeeeeee???????????????

I'm pretty sure these guys learnt from their mistakes with 6 and the console release won't be too far away. Giving the arcades a 6-10 months headstart sounds reasonable.

*Fist bump* Good knowing there's still love for Lee out there. The wait will be unbearable.

The refined level of sarcasm that can exist on this site gives me pause, and a glimmer of hope that you are joking.

Please be more obvious.

Either apply a metaphorical baseball bat to my head or proffer me an imaginary stick for the a pinata, I beg you.

I bought it twice - day one, and another copy a couple of months back.

And I do not even like tag-style play.

Plus one, for Lee mains, here. :)

Namco will rape your wallet with DLC, you can count on it.

Always the pessimist. lol. :p

I won't mind DoA5 type costume updates. SCV did this as well. Had a bunch of themed costumes as paid DLC on top of the customizations that the games usually have for free. If Tekken does follow this approach, I'm assuming it will do something similar, which is perfectly fine in my book. It's not like Tekken offered these specialized costumes for free before. Previous games just had the standard customizations and the default costumes.

The dream, once so full of life, hope, and promise, is dead. :/

I guess I shall be selling my PS4, after all.

Fuck this gen.

And sod last gen with a serrated knife, for making things the way they now are.

I was already 99% retro and 3DS, anyway.

What's another 1%?

Boooooooo. All this negativity. It's spoiling my hype for Tekken 7. If the game sucks, then I'll think about bailing on Tekken as a franchise. So far, Tekken has never failed my expectations. Even with Tekken 4, yes. I enjoyed it a lot. There's always something new and fun to enjoy with each new entry and I have been playing since Tekken 3. If Tekken 7 sucks, then I'll reconsider my commitment to this franchise but so far I have been pleased with everything they've done up until TTT2. Seeing as Tekken 7 console is still far away, a lot of things can and will change by that time.

Basing conclusions and judgments on the final release based on your own future predictions is not doing anyone any good.

I don't think anyone is saying tekken 7 will suck, because its based on a solid and reliable foundation. People are just tired of having stuff recycled; people are tired of the lack of innovation; people are dissapointed at the lack of ambition and vision harada has.

You'll still get a solid fighter. If you liked T6 and Tag2, it's gonna be pretty hard for you to be letdown with the same game with gameplay tweaks and upres'd graphics, if that's what your looking for.

I just can't help but think about what could have been... While playing TTT2 for thousands and thousands of hours I dreamt of so many ways I'd like to see Tekken evolve. It's the adverse effect of putting so much passion into one thing and then see the thing I love crumbling around me.

When I went to Toronto 3 weeks ago the scene there was really anticipating Tekken 7, they didn't really care about the evolution I was waiting for and just want to play the game without worrying about Tag, complete polar opposite of me. One guy there who I haven't seen play the game for almost 6 years is all of sudden talking about Tekken 7 non stop. I think Tekken 7 will still do OK but it's not what I wanted... AT ALL. And then Lucky Chloe is just there to taunt me after.

6 was like looking at the beginning of all of hopes and dreams for the series coming to fruition.

Bound was the great hype hope, the gateway to getting even more individualized playstyles.

And now this.

I was talking in reference to paid DLC.

I know a lot of stuff is recycled and I also want new character designs and art style. But at the end of the day, gameplay is the most important thing for me. If it's fun gameplay, then fine.

A lot of games rely on recycled designs. It's just how it is. Especially now with game costs going over the board with HD development and companies barely being able to keep up.

I miss TekkenGAF, one of these days I'll get back on and get bodied by you all.

Meh. 6 was mediocre IMO. 5 is still the pinnacle of the series for me. No unfair juggle combo's where the opponent cant do anything unless you really knew what you were doing or horrible end bosses like Azazel. Yes, Jinpachi is still 10 times better than Azazel.
I thought Tag 2 was pretty good though

If they do lock out a bunch of customization/costumes behind DLC, I hope it won't be too unreasonably priced. Like, with Virtua Fighter 5 FS, I didn't mind paying $30 to unlock full customization for everyone, but for something like Dead or Alive, where (noncustomizable) outfit bundles are very expensive, I'd give it a huge pass. SoulCalibur V was a little pricey too, considering how much new items cost Vs how much was in the game by default. And how they charged for both equipment from characters that were in IV (and thus, were already modeled into separate customization bits), and equipment that had already been DLC in 4 (and thus should have been available in V by default).

Even if it isn't free, I hope Harada does what he can to keep it from being too pricey.

I'm pretty sure 5 had plenty of those. The AI probably just didn't utilize them as much. Lengthy and/or powerful juggles have been in the series for ages. Bound just made them more visible.

That's what i'm saying. Bound made it a much tougher pill to swallow, whereas before you really had to time everything perfect and learn every individual moveset, nowadays people can just keep doing the same moves over and over without any actual skill as long as it keeps the opponent in the air

You're not going to be one of those buy, sell, re-buy type of people? Eeesh. Don't just sell a console because of some game that doesn't fit your needs.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
Every time there's a new Tekken 7 thread I get excited, rush in for possible confirmation, then get my heart crushed all over again..... Still no word on my girl Nina Williams being in this installment :(

She'll be there. Just gotta wait out these character time releases.

well Harada did say the overall roster will be smaller but it'll be extremely weird not to include the main character.

well, Tekken does have a rotating door of protagonists. Jin may usually be the poster boy, but arguably Lars is the main character now.

Tekken 1: Kazuya
Tekken 2: Heihachi (remember, this is when Kazuya showed his true colours and became all twisted and shit. Kazuya's Mishima Zaibatsu was waaay more twisted/evil than Hei's)
Tekken 3: Jin
Tekken 4: Kazuya
Tekken 5: Jin + Kazuya + Heihachi (they all shared this one)
Tekken 6 BR: Lars

it is also worth noting that Jin was an unlockable time release character in Tekken 4.

It'll be like those last 7 very long and very painful days before your tenth birthday. I don't know if I can go through this again.

Beautiful! All hail the Queen.

I don't understand what's going with Claudio in that picture.
Or rather, I do understand what has happened there, I just don't know why.

Also, I have no interest in the character itself, but Dragunov has one of the most effortlessly badass poses I've seen in a while. I wish they would do something like this for Nina, when her character CG render is revealed. None of the stretchy posey jumpy stuff please, Namco.

Is it just me, or has the Tekken team abandoned realism in the art for the series? I'm not talking about just the character designs, mind--Tekken has always been fairly ridiculous in that aspect--but rather the way in which they are rendered. Looking back on the Tekken 5 and 6 CG renders, the characters look a little less cartoonish than they do in these T7 renders. It seemed as though they used to be going for a more lifelike look before, and now... I don't know.

I guess Bryan grinning as he tries to squat out a turd doesn't help matters.

Here's some images for comparison

I thought I was the only one who noticed that. The CG is still beautiful, but to me it does look a little more cartoony compared to previous efforts. Maybe they are trying to appeal more to anime fans?

I find it odd that only like 3 characters for new default outfits. Either go all of the way or not at all

And Law's is just a Dark Resurrection-esque recolor. I don't know if I'd say "not at all" though. Redesigning a cast as big as Tekken's is now in one go is no easy feat. I just hope they continue offering new character designs.

Kind of seems that way, especially with how they changed up the ladies faces in Tekken Revolution.

But yeah, the colors in the CG seem more vibrant than usual, to the point of losing that slight sense of realism. The poses seem sillier too. It's as though the characters know that they are posing and want to look goofy as all get out.

I'd love to see her return in a main title as well. I guess anything's possible. Also sad to see Lei not in the default characters. This is feeling more like T2 with those guys. xD

It'd be weird if they dropped Lei super-cop. He was in every title since his introduction, and his style is fairly iconic of Tekken. Then again, they don't even have Yoshimitsu or Nina in the starter roster, and they're complete series mainstays.

At least the time-release characters will keep the coming months interesting.

My hype would be completely deflated if they don't have Yoshimitsu. I've mained him since Tekken 3...

Lei was a time release character in Tekken 4, so time will tell. don't forget that the initial arcade release of Tekken 4 only had these guys:

The only character that gets a redesign in Tekken is yoshimitsu. I'm ok with that cuz they have more than delivered on customization options.

Actually, Jin's been the main character since Tekken 3. Tekken's protagonist is based off of whose ending they follow, and they've been following Jin's since his debut.

Too true. Call me crazy, but I really liked the Tekken 4 character art. The portraits were so good, even Jin's emo-y type self. lol

Go Jin!

I'll be surprised if his ending is the true one, but I assume he is being avoided on purpose to create intrigue about just what happened to him. He'll always be the most important character to me but even with his previous endings always being true, Kazuya and Heihachi pushed a lot of the action between those.

They look like a bunch of rivals from a delinquent manga the main guy has to beat.
Especially Hwoarang.
