Nah. All the Terminator movies that James Cameron hasn't made have been good action movies. Explosions, gun fights, cool ideas about robots. They've had fine stories and been entertaining. Are they as good as the first two? No, not generally. But you have to compare them to one of the best scifi horror movies ever, and what is probably the best action movie ever. It's borderline idiotic to be upset that they're not as good as those two movies.

Except the Christian Bale one, because it was stupid garbage.

The best sequels after T2 are Salvation and TSCC. Every other movie feels like a remake and it's gotten boring fast. They need a full reboot en return to the horror roots of T1.

Have you played Terminator Resistance? Didn't have a very high budget but the story could very well be the sequel to T1 and T2. It also has an amazing rendition of the Terminator theme in the final mission:
