Thanks for making NeoGAF a great video game community

Great job. I've been participating in gaming forums for 25 years or so and post-exodus, GAF is my favorite. I've been a member here for 14 years, although I mostly lurked for the first half of that, because the site felt too large for me, and the SJW mods made their presence felt.

I know that the exodus must've been hell to go through and hard to recover from, but I love how GAF transformed afterwards. The poison got drained off, and the reduction in membership was actually a boon, because it allowed a new, cohesive community to form. GAF became what I remember gaming forums used to be like - a place for open, free-wheeling discussion, diverse opinions, and lots of laughs. I love the emphasis on free speech and mild moderation.

Well this miserable aul fuck subscribed specifically because Gaf is not an echo chamber and allows voices from all corners and walks to discuss and contribute, I've been slapped a few times by mods but I'm adult enough to understand the reasons why and adjust my attitude without any animosities, keep up the good work EviLore EviLore and fellow mods

One of the few places on the internet that feels open to discussion and disagreement without the cancel culture. Glad to be a small part of it.

I am heartened to say that NeoGAF is in a great place right now. Discussions are lively and varied, with a mix of news, impressions, analysis, and drama. Users post thoughtfully, jokingly, and honestly, while keeping things tactful and within the rules. Quite a few people help keep our lights on directly by subscribing to Gold. No matter what your contributions to the community are, I appreciate you.

We're currently at over 3 million unique visitors this past month, so don't discount how many people read what you write on GAF.

Rome wasn't built in a day. We've put in the hard work to build a great community, and I foresee good times ahead.

Yeah, everyone got together to try to ruin my life and reputation, which had permanent repercussions not just for myself but everyone who was relying on me. And the community I had spent my entire life building and keeping independent and away from dirty industry influence was stolen and then sold off to a corporation for a large sum of money shortly thereafter.

Challenges build character, though! Gotta keep moving forward no matter what.

Love it here, congrats on keeping GAF up.

And going by your Rome analogy we are the Byzantine Empire.

I (and a lot of other users) were here during the last days of the Roman empire, it's fall and the current rise. It wasn't pretty, and i feared it was over.

Its great to have a gaming forum where you can freely talk about you know... games, without the fear of getting banned, because you may have a different opinion than the moderators

Great place by great people and for great people. Cheers! Hope we can keep sharing opinions and shitposting for many years.

The only thing I miss about old gaf is the devs that posted here. But for the rest you did one hell of a job rebuilding the community congrats

At least you know who are the Judas people in your life and you don't have to deal with them anymore. We will keep this forum strong.

This sounds eerily familiar.

Damn, sorry you had to go through all that. Sounds awful.

From my own point of view, it gives me more confidence in you as captain of the ship, though. Not only were you able to weather that storm and rebuild the community - an impressive feat in itself - but I know that you understand, in a way few others do, how nasty, vindictive, and destructive the SJW/cancel culture mob can be. Because of that, I have complete confidence that you will not allow the purple hairs to grab the moderation reigns again, and that GAF will remain a place where we can say what we think (within limits, of course).

Anyway, great job with the forum. Happy to hear about its success.

I agree. I discovered this place about a year ago. It's so much better here. I been at Gamespot for the last 20 years and that place is trash now.

I am glad I discovered NeoGAF.

Thank you EviLore for providing us this free speech platform.

This forum is sorely needed and I am not surprised plenty of people are coming back to discuss freely. The vast majority of gaffers are respectful and are here to have fun. Which is important.

I was just a Casper when i joined in 2014. Saw many favorite members request bans. It has been a great forum.

I initially joined with the name battletrax, then changed to hybrid birth, and lastly digital_ghost.

I remember making memes during the meme contest. Great times.

I bet quite a lot of devs and old members still lurk here, even if they no longer have their accounts.

As a certain election result has shown us, the majority of people don't carry the extreme and warped worldview that is championed on Era. There must be a fair few people that are back looking this way.

I'm not aligned with the Political views of the majority.

But it's still a welcoming place and I'll stay here !

I came here after getting a temp ban on ERA for apparently dismissing some kind of -phobia by engaging in a discussion.

Best part about this place is that many posters are legit funny and seemingly a tad older as well. Also emojis and gifs. Holy shit I love spamming both.

I personally want to thank EviLore EviLore for giving us(me) a place to call "home" away from home. I'm 52 and I've had some extreme ups and downs with my life. I'm happy to say NeoGAF has been a place where
I can look forward to reading about my favorite hobby(since the Pong/Atari 2600 days) and it bringing me some fun, excitement and breaking news daily. It's been a rock for me to cling to whilst fighting some pretty crazy storms through the years. You deserve all the success and I wish nothing but the best for you and NeoGAF EviLore EviLore Thanks again!

Cheers!
