Well, 7-6, 3-6, 3-0 to Tomic. He needs to continue to pick up his game after wiping out in the second after leading 3-1.

If he loses this third set, then I fail to see how his young body can compete at a high enough level for two more sets leading into, well, 3am...

Jim Courier should learn to keep his mouth shut. They're both very young and in their 5th set. Give them a break.

Happy for Marin, but real impressive showing from the 17 year old. Plays some pretty smart tennis. Besides his serve(which isn't bad but could be faster) I couldn't spot many weaknesses.

I think the main issue is that there's no real strength, persé. But a weakness would be that he doesn't *really* seem to be crafting many shots. Didn't ever seem to dominate a point in that Cilic match, at least.

A bit of a letdown but ohwell, there's still three Aussies left and our two strongest hopes, playing tomorrow.

What I really liked about him is that he seemed to move especially well, knew when to give up on a point to conserve his strength/stamina, read Cilic's serve and anticipated his shots and when he suddenly upped the pace in a rally.

I see tremendous upside in him, we'll see how he develops the next few years.

Well I'm still disapointed Blake lost, but Roddick would have beat him down the road anyway so, it's not all bad news. But the American men are so screwed tonight. Donald Young is going to lose against Hewitt no doubt, and Taylor Dent has a chance against Tsonga if Dent's style just completely throws Tsonga off, but I just can't see Dent winning that match either. I HOPE I'M WRONG THOUGH! Although I really like Tsonga too.

I'm just happy that Mr. Chip'n'Charge is back on duty.

Don't see him having a(ny) chance either (except Tsonga has health problems again) but It's nice to see someone play some good old serve and volley.

Oh and I'm not so sure about Young, if he finally is able to put together a complete match it could be tighter than a lot of people expect it to be. That said he'll probably lose 60 60 60 :lol

There is no way that Young gets taken to the woodshed by Hewitt. Young in four.

I dunno, I haven't seen much by Young but he always struggles to play an entire match at a high level, he sure has a lot of talent, but that only takes you so far..

And Hewitt usually is the exact opposite, nothing spectacular, nothing fancy just fighting til the end (thats why I love him).

Talentwise It'd say It's pretty even, but Young unfortunately has shown nothing which makes me believe he can pull an upset. But as much as It would suck to see Lleyton exit this early I'd be really happy for Mr. Young if he could win this one.

Dulko just knocked out Ivanovic in three sets.

Boy, nothing has gone right for Ana since she did that FHM shoot.

Are you the same Rafa=Fedkilla from MTF? :)

No, I've been a lurker there since 04, but I needed a quick and funny name for my GAF account. I have seen you post there before, especially in the Djokovic threads. :D

I thought she was going to pull it out of the bag when she came back from 5-1 in the last :(

The match between Donald Young and Lleyton Hewitt will be interesting. Hewitt has trouble against players that take pace off the ball. Young has great touch and hands, but his forehand tends to be very loopy, which could disrupt Hewitt's timing. Young in 4. Henin in 2.
You got Henin right, I'll give you that.

Wow, good on Young for coming back after what must have been a stinging first set loss to consolidate a break's lead in the second.

Venus played better than expected. Looks like it'll be her vs. Wozniacki in this quarter.
That match will be amazing on paper... but why do I have a feeling Venus will rise to the occasion in spades?

Baghdatis is going to make a comeback in this match. 2 sets down is no problem for him

Great game. What a comeback. Baghdatis has a lot of heart and that's what I like about him.

that hantuchova girl is cute. who is the one in the kswiss shoes ad?

edit: oh, its kournikova. she doesnt count...

And of course Hewitt breaks back

edit: aaaaand Donald collapses and loses the set. This is why he hasn't done shit for 4years.

You are correct. Young really needs a new coach and to stop being such a momma's boy. I don't know if any of you have seen the film Unstrung, but it has a perfect example of his lack of concentration during practice. Donald needs a coach that not only expects him to focus, but demands it.

That's Alona Bondarenko who just eliminated JJ.

EDIT: Why the heck is Eurosport 2 showing Wickmayer vs. Errani instead of Roodick - Lopez or Korolev - Gonzalez?

Well done Hewy, Dellacqua and Henin this morning.

Maybe this is a bit of an overcompliment(?) but Young reminds me a bit of Federer when he was young and still forming. He often showed flashes of intense brilliance coupled with emotional slumps. Granted, Federer was only like that for, what, 18 months or something? But still, the potential in Young is deafening.

Wow. Florian Mayer's double-handed backhands look so strange to me.

But yeah, Del Potro is in a spot of bother. Just lost the second set to love 6-3 0-6...

EDIT: Since when are there more than 32 seeds? American John Isner is seeded 33? Wut the ...?

Well... Isner won the third set as well. Monfils(12) is in trouble!

Still don't know why he's seeded 33. Anyone know much about him? Any of you Yanks followed his career at all?

Former college player. Beat Roddick in the US Open last year. Too tall to run so he just tries to hit the ball deep and hard each shot.

Because Gilles Simon (15th seed) dropped out before the open and Isner was next on the list and got bumped up to become the "official" 32nd seed.

Thanks. Looks like he's earned it!

EDIT: Isner defeats 12th seed Monfils 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(5) and plays Andy Murray in the Round of 16 on Monday.

Isner vs. Murray. hmm

I'll be pulling for Isner but Murray is the best returner in the game so I don't know if Isner has a good chance considering Isner relies on his serve for quick easy games.
