This is one of the worst action film lists I've seen in a while.

Where the fuck is Die Hard, Hard Boiled (or even A Better Tomorrow/Better Tomorrow 2, The Killer) or Dredd ? Where the fuck is Jackie Chan or Sammo Hung ? Where the fuck is Jim Cameron ?

Fuck outta here

3. Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2009)/Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012)

Is this a trick? Like when a student writes in the middle of school essay "if you're reading this, draw a cat on the cover"? Can anyone who has seen them confirm - I thought it was just straight to video on demand trash.

Universal soldier regeneration is one of the best all around action movies ever yes

Day of reckoning is trash in comparison

Eh. The lack of John Wick 2 and The Raid 2 sticks out bigly thanks to the inclusion of some rather questionable choices here.
Right john wick 2 was leagues better then the first yet it's not on here. Then the raid 2 has the single greatest last hour of a movie, while the first 2 hours are preety boring :( but it should still be on the list. The raid one should also be in the top 3 like come on that's the best action movie ever.

If we're bitching about omissions I'mma shout out for Bourne Supremacy. Easily the best of the Bourne films and managed to do shaky cam action in an artful way. Slick, cold euro thriller with brutal combat, great chases, and a surprisingly potent emotional core that complicates Bourne's character in a way the others didn't manage to. Also helped pave the way for Casino Royale.

No Die Hard?

Which one, Live Free or Die Hard or A Good Day to Die Hard? lol

Ya where the fuck is dredd? That's movie is fantastic and hell why aren't there comic book movies on this list are they not considered action movies? Cause civil war and winter soilder have some of the best action scenes of the century easy, plus they got good stories. Way better then whatever the hell that universal soilder one is...

I don't recall much "combat" in Fury Road. Like I mean they fought (chain scene/throwing people off cars/fighting on moving vehicles) but a lot of these movies were literally ass kicking. The Raid by far has better pure fight scenes then Fury Road although Fury Road arguably has better cinematography, dialogue, and character development. I guess it's the whole not just parts.

All agree with this but damn the raid should be number one or at least top 3 action movies of all time let alone decade. Shit is pure adrenal crazy kung fu balls to the wall fighting. I would pull out some gifs but I'm sure everyone here has seen this movie, and if you haven't.....

The fist fight in Fury Road where Max is chained to Nux is as good as any fight in the Raid. And Fury Road is almost all action. Chases, shooting, explosions, jumping off shit...its pure insanity cranked to 11.

Kinda sounds like you haven't even seen them though.

Raid is a Classic. Thats is why Dredd finessed it. Fury Road is a great movie but when I hear Ass-Kicking I'm thinking rapid foley of kicks and punches like a martial arts movie. Fury Road was great especially visually but by the title of this list even Kill Bill bests Fury Road.

It validates the list, tbh.

That's fair. That's why I mentioned as a whole Fury Road has much more to offer by way cinematography. This doesn't really have an objective answer but If I has to show someone an "ass-kicking" scene I think I would be good with The Raid hallway scene even the ending tag team fight over the Max chained with Nux fight in Fury Road.

No Taken or Bourne movie? LOL

Limited cuts...

Also absent are "post-action" movies, i.e., action-driven stories where camera tricks obscure what used to be money shots.

oh ok

Good to see the Undisputed movies on a list like this. I just recently learnt there's a fourth one all about Boyka again, and I can't wait to see it.

John Wick 2 needs to be there, though. That might legit be the best Western action movie ever made. So many long, beautifully-framed shots of gorgeous action, zero shaky cam or confusing cuts. It's a whole different league from the first movie, and the first movie was incredible.

Kill Bill is a bizarre choice for number 2. Uma Thurman is so slow and unconvincing in all the shots they didn't use her stunt double for. And some of those modern Chinese wuxia movies like Man of Tai Chi become totally incomprehensible as soon as the action begins. Everything is done on wires and the editing and cuts to different angles just makes them look like garbage.

Good to see Chocolate get some love. It's one of my favorite martial arts movies ever made. Each fight is a thrill to watch. The subject matter might be too far fetched or offensive for some (it's about an autistic girl beating the shit out of bad guys, and later on she fights an epileptic guy), but God damn those fight scenes.

Terrible trailer, though: https://youtu.be/0Onmgwe5xi8
