Man, my dad loves him. Better tell him gently before he sees it in the news.

Last 24 hours have been brutal.
Chyna, Prince and Victoria Wood.

What the fuck is going on?

I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there
I know that he has found another friend
Maybe he's found the answer to all the April snow
Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again

Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
But all good things, they say, never last

All good things that say, never last
And love, it isn't love until it's past

I missed his show in Atlanta too. :(

All work has ceased in our office and people are in each other's cubes talking about it.

rip

hope that rumor of him having tons of unreleased music in his 'vault' is true

He does.

“I joined Prince in 1983 when he was preparing to do Purple Rain. I realized it would be smart for me to get his tapes together in one place. I was aware there were a lot of pieces missing. It became an obsession. I wanted us to have everything he’d ever recorded. I called up the studios he’d been using and said: ‘Have you got any Prince tapes’? This is his legacy. We need to protect these things. It’s an actual bank vault, with a thick door. It’s in the basement of Paisley Park. When I left in 87, it was nearly full. Row after row of everything we’d done. I can’t imagine what they’ve done since then.”

Jeez! first I heard if it just now.

When I read the plane was diverted a few days ago I instantly thought the worst and was relieved it was 'just' flu.

Just wow.

...on the upside we might actually get to hear his entire catalog digitally along with whatever else he was holding back now. The man's music will live on at least.

Not always true because we still have a fucktn of MJ songs that will never see the light of day.

His people told us the 57-year-old had been battling a bad bout of flu.

Man. 57 and died of the flu?

He was a Jehovah's Witnesses wasn't he? Is there any sort of flu or pneumonia medical treatment a Jehovah's Witnesses would have refused? I thought they only refused blood transfusions.

Just saw on CNN!!!

No!!!! NO!!!

He was my idol. Someone who I was in awe of because of how unique and talented he was.

Rest in peace Purple Prince!

I wasn't a huge fan of his music, but he was a legend regardless.

So crazy and unexpected - stranger yet, I had no idea that he was so young.

RIP. 2016 really has been crazy for celeb deaths.

Honorary Canadian.
Damn. Pretty awful news.

For younger people, at least check out his Superbowl halftime show in 2007. Easily my favorite halftime show in my life time. Plus it encompasses a LOT of his personality and attitude towards music and performance, I think. Pretty awesome.

He played up here in Detroit a couple months ago and I didn't go cuz I was tight on money and thought I'd see him next year. Damn.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
I just read Cosmic post "OMG RIP Prince. Holy Shit"

It was so out of place in the thread I was like who the fuck is Prince? I started putting 2+2 together....

:-(

Wow at this news. Reports are he died in his studio. Hopefully he was making music, because thats what he loved to do.

R.I.P.

Also I'm just finding out Vanity (Katrina Matthews) died this year too, back on February 16th. Damn. I loved her in The Last Dragon.

RIP Vanity :(

The word genius gets thrown around too liberally these days, but Prince was a true musical genius. His creativity was staggering. This is such sad news.
