Going through some of these live performances, god damn. The man did some work.
Really good.
Started listening to him late last year when I was looking to expand my musical horizons. The first was Purple Rain, which is amazing. Later, I bought 1999 which I didn't think was as good, but still a great piece. I actually enjoyed it more when I listened to it again a couple weeks ago.
Since then, I had been meaning to ask gaf about his other works that I should check out. I kept forgetting to, and of course, I never wanted to ask it in a thread like this.
Terrible news to wake up to hearing.
Thats crazy. Prince and Madonna were the two 80s era musicians I never expected to die early. I don't even know what to say. RIP just doesn't cut it.
He was one of (if not the) greatest all-around artists of all time.
Some of my favorite B-sides/album cuts:
Question of U
Girls & Boys
Sometimes It Snows in April
Ballad of Dorothy Parker
Joy In Repetition
America extended version
Mountains extended version
Computer Blue
Erotic City
All the Critics Love You in New York
Electric Chair
Star Fish and Coffee
Adore
Time
I could go on and on.
This hurts man.
You made me think Madonna also had died >.<

What the shit?
I haven't taken the "Fuck 2016" comments seriously but at this point, seriously, what the hell. It's actually crazy; they're dropping like flies.
What a bummer.
I always think of Scream 2 when I hear Always in my Hair tho...lol. D' Angelo did a good job on it.
Around the World in a Day may be my personal favorite Prince album.
Pop Life, Rasberry Beret and Condition of the Heart would be all I need to tide me over on a desert island.
There's going to be a concert from Questlove comin' soon. There's no way there won't be. And he's going to get D'Angelo right up front in that motherfucker.
And they're going to set everything on fire.
I've watched this performance on various sites dozens of times. Untouchable.

First Avenue (Minneapolis), where Prince started out at, is having a free all-night free dance party from 11pm to 7am to honor Prince, I kinda want to go to it.
when I look at Prince's (and Michael's) musical legacy, it makes other similar acts (Bruno Mars, Usher, Bieber) look so damn small and mediocre.
it't sad to see Prince go.
here are two (Sorry for the bad quality) gifs I did some months ago, I'd like to post them to remember him
so badass as a dancer, love his moves,
Looks like downtown Minneapolis' skyline will be lit purple tomorrow
Nah, if it's a live performance, D will be there. I'd bet on that no hesitation. If it's just Quest dj'ing, then nah. But if there's a live band, and Quest is behind the drums? D's gonna be out front.
I would give up a hell of a lot to get there tonight.
If it wasn't in his will and doesn't go against his wishes. I wonder if his estate will take a more relaxed approach with his music and the internet. I've always felt like the lack of his presence on sites such as youtube were unfortunate because younger generations probably discover a lot of great older music thanks to it. Even myself at 35 still discover some great music from last 60+ years which I probably otherwise wouldn't have.
