Seriously 2016, you can STOP RIGHT NOW. Enough already!

Sad, sad news. Yet another legend and icon taken way too young and too soon. Rest in Peace, Prince.

My favourite artist of all time. I didn't like everything he did, but his high points were so far beyond anyone else that it never mattered. I'm so sad that I have no more of his albums to look forward to but he left an incredible musical legacy that I will keep on enjoying for the rest of my life.

Rest in peace and thank you for having such a huge impact on me and millions of others.

I'm in complete disbelief. Prince and David Bowie in the same year? What are you doing to my childhood, 2016?

Fuck.

RIP.

I just found an article about it

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/mar/19/i-would-hide-4-u-whats-in-princes-secret-vault

He may have literally made a new song every day. His soul just was music.

I'd heard about the "vault" before, but I never knew he was that prolific (he almost filled a bank vault with stuff back in '87?!).

i've been collecting his live performances for years now and they're definitely a treat to listen to (if you're willing to search that hard.)

An awful year of deaths continued. I've never properly gotten into Prince's music, listened to him in a short burst a little while back and watched Purple Rain, but his music was always on my list of artists to pick up a few albums from. Rest in peace Prince.

I dont remember how well it fit with the movie, but as a stand alone album, its VERY sonically impressive.
Burton begged him to do it iirc and the songs actually used in the movie fit really well.

"Scandelous" may as well be counted as the first post credit sequence in a super hero movie, it made me sit back down as I was leaving >.>

Its one of the few songs tied to a soundtrack I would include in a personal playlist.

Amazing song. And whenever I re watch that movie...I do the exact same thing. I sit there until all the songs are done.

This makes me want to tell the paparazzi to fuck off. In the middle of Minnesota but we gotta make sure we're creeping on every single celebrity no mater how mundane.
The paparazzi are nothing more than professional stalkers.

Terrible news. I'm not the biggest Prince fan but his and Bowie's movements on acceptance of any gender especially androgynous were incredible feats and won't be forgotten.

Bowie's death left me relatively unaffected but this one truly upsets me. I still remember a kid in high school telling me I had to listen to this new album that just came out. I listened once and was hooked. The year was 1982 and the album was 1999. I've been a fan ever since. I always wanted to see him in concert and never had the chance. Damn.

What the fuck. :(

I had only just heard some rumours recently that suggested he was having health complications related to a serious illness he's battled for a long time and that he'd stopped taking medication for some reason. Devastating.

this is almost certainly some regular joe who spotted a celeb while out on a wednesday night and sold their private photo to tmz for a wad of cash, not a pap following prince around minnesota suburbs

This is a trailer for "Akounak Teggdalit Taha Tazouhai," a remake of Purple Rain that was filmed in two weeks in a small town in Niger by a group of Tuaregs. The music is incredible. The translation got a little funny since 'purple' doesn't exist in Tuareg, so the official movie title is 'Rain the Color of Blue with a little Red in it'

He was one of (if not the) greatest all-around artists of all time.

Some of my favorite B-sides/album cuts:

Question of U
Girls & Boys
Sometimes It Snows in April
Ballad of Dorothy Parker
Joy In Repetition
America extended version
Mountains extended version
Computer Blue
Erotic City
All the Critics Love You in New York
Electric Chair
Star Fish and Coffee
Adore
Time
I could go on and on.

This hurts man. :(

Yeah on second thought this makes more sense. And I can understand a random bystander being starstruck and nabbing a pic.
