Ensign Suder.

Just want to add an honorable mention of Tuvix.

In the one episode he had the chance to live on Voyager before Janeway had him murdered, he was instantly more interesting and likable than any other crewmember on Voyager.

I like the list. Picard is also my fav. captain.

Also paging Dax

picard is a "prime directive" pussy

Sisko is the only captain with balls
honestly I hated most of TNG, roddenberry was already showing his age and made the whole show into "hippies in space" with any common sense gone from the galaxy when it comes to stuff like military or economy, it's only DS9 that returned some sense into the galaxy

althrough the jemhadar bayonet charging the feds and winning was still retarded beyond belive...

It's got to be one of General Martok, Garak or Shren for me.

Yes, Shren, Enterprise did somethings right and he was one of them!

Picard broke the prime directive quite a few times, AFAIK.

Voyager isn't half as bad as everyone makes out in my opinion - I just got done watching all 7 seasons recently (watched all of DS9 before that), and while there are some seriousley idiotic plot lines (Borg children on Voyager? Fucking seriousley?) and characters that progress no where (Chakotay; "My people believe that the spirits Akuchimaya etc...I want to have sex with Janeway, but can't - damn protocol.") there are a TON of great individual episodes and some really epic two-parters, the series doesn't deserve half the flak it gets (especially when DS9 is so highly regarded).

Anyways, my favourite Trek characters would be;

01. Captain James T. Kirk
02. The Doctor
03. Spock
04. Captain Jean-Luc Picard
05. Chief Miles O'Brian
06. Dr. McCoy
07. Seven of Nine
08. Worf
09. Quark
10. Various Klingons (Martok, Gowron, The Dahar Masters; Kang, Kolos & Khor)

And my least favourite;

01. Captain Jonathan Archer
02. Stupid Voyager Borg children (Echeb?)
03. Wesley Crusher
04. Harry Kim
05. Major Kira Nerys
06. Lwaxwana Troi
07. Nelix
08. Anyone Bajoran, excepting Ro Laren.
09. Jake Sisko
10. Deana Troi

T'Pol and that's not because of what people think. She was honestly an awesome character. Her dialogue and chemistry with Trip was funny to watch. I was gutted Enterprise had ended, she was the star of the show.

There seems to be a pattern that my favourite Star Trek characters are these beautiful women lol, but in all honestly their characters and persona's were just the most interesting considering their pasts.

The character I hated the most in the Trek Universe was

seven_of_nine_head_shot.jpg

She was there for nothing other than wearing tight bin bags.

Lol, you rag on Seven of Nine for being nothing more than eye candy...but you really like T'Pol. Good character she may have been, but her whole purpose of being on Enterprise was to wear a series of increasingly skin-tight costumes as the ratings dwindled, plus the writers took any excuse to get her naked (Lol, sorry T'Pol you've got to get half nekkid inside this decontamination chamber/hey T'Pol, Trip can't sleep, how about giving him some of that nekkid Vulcan massage?).

You need to read my post again though, I never said any of that. In fact I specifically started in citing that my favouritism towards T'Pol wasn't based on her appearance. In anything it was based on her demanour, her sense of curiousity, her emotional conflicts and how she tried to act more Vulcan despite becoming more human. All aspects which Seven of Nine tried to explore but failed horribly. I swear everytime the screen was on her face the image became blurred and there was a subtle wink at a frame in there. They wanted to force and visibly illustrate, wait, more like ooze sexuality from Seven of Nine to balance with her lack of emotion or expression. But it had no direction, it was just random and so cheesy. They learnt their lesson with T'Pol, and her sex appeal was much less apparant/occuring than Seven of Nine's. They focused that on her relationship with Trip; showing her bare back for a few seconds in one episode is better than seeing her walk around with paint for clothing. But best of all, they actually gave her a meaningful character and one of the best character developments in the Trek Universe (something you can't say for many of the names listed here).

Neelix and Kes were some of the worst characters ever. Also that little brat who was the "Captain's assistant". *barf*

The Doctor was cool though.

Sisko's the best character for me. He seems like a more down to earth kind of guy compared to the others.

part of sisko's character on ds9 is a reaction to the particulars of his assignment: working on ds9 is just not the same thing as captaining a starship, particularly if you want to contrast it with picard's enterprise. ds9 was, in many ways, hostile toward a federation presence from the outset, densely populated by species who were not ready to fall into the federation line. that's not to say that sisko strong-arms them, but he is also very clearly not adverse to using less conventional, officially sanctioned negotiating tactics and coming up with creative solutions to station problems.

he's sort of an intersection between picard and kirk, which works really well for the show: very aware and careful of the regulations, but also conscious of when it behooves him to break them. like every great ds9 character, very complex, and not easily pegged.

I will be in love with Counsellor Troi until the day I die.

And no pics yet. This thread is appalling.

Although the best character would have to be Picard. Troi just has a better ass.

Garak is a pretty cool pick I guess though.

You are not a true trek fan if you don't make the top 3 kirk spock and mccoy. Not including ANY of them in your top list makes you a embarrassment :(.

Picking a bunch of DS9..etc characters makes you a TNG era fan NOT a real Star Trek fan imo. There is the TOS crew and then a bunch of wannabe's.

Good list, I like them all. But I think Picards deserves the number one spot.
And worst character must be B'Elanna Torres. I hate her sooo much.

Its hyperbole obviously for the sake of the thread!

But I really don't see TNG/DS9/etc as "Star Trek" it just isn't the same. They are just spin-off's of the untouchable original crew. Although I like DS9 and TNG, own the dvds, getting the tng blurays...etc

Although I think putting ALL TNG and DS9 characters before the original crew is pretty much comparable to putting like Hoover or Garfield as your favorite Presidents well above the Lincoln, FDR, Jefferson types. It's a valid opinion, but a bit odd. You are putting the no namers over the world renowned big guns!

There is the TOS crew, there's the TNG> era crews, then there's those imposters from that monstrosity of a movie that should never have been made - they aren't the same characters as the TOS crew, they just happen to share their names.

Let's make out. Even though I adore the new movie. Chris Pine is awesome.

the reason people pick characters like garak and sisko over kirk and spock is because they were actually given many seasons of an extremely developed, complex character development. i understand the allure of kirk and spock, because i love them too: they're almost mythic. the movies did a better job of developing their complexities, but for the most part, they're fairly predictable and we know what to expect of them in a given situation. the old tv show didn't really do much to make them three-dimensional.

compare that to what a show like ds9 did: seven seasons of solid character building. by the end, i felt like i knew these people, the same way you do with any great character-driven show. t.o.s. and ds9 are just very different kinds of shows, the former more focused on high-stakes situations episode to episode; the latter took frequent detours into small stories that were personally significant to a particular person on the station.

You say they're untouchable, I say they were surpassed.

For me it's either Bones (both old and new) or Garak. There are a lot more candidates for the spot of most hated character in my opinion.
