Well... Don't hate me, because I used to like Voyager (didn't watch all of it though) and thought Chakotay was yummy.. err I mean a great character. :p I also liked Belanna. I didn't like DS9 much. I think the first few episodes put me off the show, but Dax and Bashir are my favourite from DS9. Picard and Data from TNG. And I was a huge fan of Dr. Crusher/Picard pairing. Too bad they never got together!

But my ALL time favourite character would be Mr. Spock. Haven't watched all of Original series, but I like what I've seen of him. He's got the most intense eyes ever! Oh and I also like Bones.

Didn't they kiss in the finale? And its obvious thats where they were going with them. Especially with the episode where they get mind linked on that planet.

Oh, you mean TNG finale, "All good things.."? I don't remember, its been a while since I last watched that episode. But what about the movies? They didn't mention anything about them in Nemesis.

not those weird things, but the planet lead by ladies with ugly 80's hair.

that episode was awesome......................ly bad.

Riker's silk nightgown thingie with the wide open chest was ridiculous.

the cheesiness of the first season of TNG is shocking, in retrospect. nowadays, I don't see how that show could've gotten a second season. (but thank God it did)

Voyager isn't half as bad as everyone makes out in my opinion - I just got done watching all 7 seasons recently (watched all of DS9 before that), and while there are some seriousley idiotic plot lines (Borg children on Voyager? Fucking seriousley?) and characters that progress no where (Chakotay; "My people believe that the spirits Akuchimaya etc...I want to have sex with Janeway, but can't - damn protocol.") there are a TON of great individual episodes and some really epic two-parters, the series doesn't deserve half the flak it gets (especially when DS9 is so highly regarded).
I agree with everything you said, BUT, didn't Picard/Dr. Crusher went through the same dilemma? They both wanted to be with each other but couldn't because worked together? Well that and also because she was his (dead) friend's widow.

Ensign Suder.

Is there any movie, series, whatever where this dude DOESN'T play a complete nutter?

LotR, Lexx, Voyager, Babylon 5 and I'm sure I have seen him play a psycho on at least two other occasions.

Yeah I am currently rewatching the series from the start. As a kid I clearly had no idea how bad the first season was.

Thank god for Wil Wheaton's TV squad episode reviews, they are a hilarious way to make watching TNG season 1 bearable.

Why does everyone hate poor Wesley Crusher?

Because he was the douchebag of all douchebags early on, and the hate was cemented.

Although when I was young, I hated all kids in shows like that, I was probably jealous.

I hated the shit out of Jonathan Brandis in Seaquest DSV.

On the other hand, what makes him so special?

stupid, crummy-i-can-defy-universal-laws-wunderkind
-actually-i'm-really-jealous

The Traveler guy was kinda cool though

He was a terribly written character that had no real place on the show. He was shoehorned in to essentially be someone the kids could relate to, like Robin was for Batman. Didn't help that they never did anything really interesting with the character. Only after he left did they mange to put together a few good episodes about him (First Duty was great).

At least Jake had an interesting story behind him, not doing the Starfleet thing and finding his own way/

At least Lucas in seaQuest was a useful member of the crew.

Another reason Jake > Wesley.

Wesley grows up to be a reject "Rocky" for The Rocky Horror Picture Show

You are not a true trek fan if you don't make the top 3 kirk spock and mccoy. Not including ANY of them in your top list makes you a embarrassment :(.

Picking a bunch of DS9..etc characters makes you a TNG era fan NOT a real Star Trek fan imo. There is the TOS crew and then a bunch of wannabe's.

Like I said earlier, completely agree.

Dax01 is like those kids who's only artistic history is through anime; except his is modern sci-fi television.

Why mention me? What are you trying to prove? There are other people in this thread who like characters that came later and value them more than Kirk, Spock, or McCoy.

I don't understand what you are trying to say with this "artistic history" thing, but I don't watch anime.

they focus on you because you're notorious for liking ds9. which is a totally justified position. because it is the best, aka, my favorite.

the difference in his comparison is that getting all your sci fi knowledge through modern anime is less thorough and thought-provoking than the material it's based on, while the older sci-fi shows being defended are quite a bit less dense than their modern counterparts.

I'm still not sure I completely understand, but I've watched all the TOS episodes and I just like '90s science-fiction more (and the more modern stuff). There isn't any other science-fiction worth watching around the TOS era besides The Twilight Zone and Flash Gordon. That leaves movies: 2001 is my favorite movie so I don't know how that's not having artistic taste. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a favorite of mine, too; I've been meaning to rewatch Blade Runner...

Modern-day science-fiction less thought-provoking and thorough than their predecessors? Of course I disagree with that.
