Man fuck Monstro II. Of all the bosses, I've been struggling with him the most recently. It's so hard to whittle down his health when he keeps spawning 4 of those (also annoying) flies every 2 seconds.

A good, if somewhat cheesy, approach is to hang out straight across from him horizontally. Almost all the time, that'll prompt him to do his laser-like attack, when he does that, run above or below him and shoot at him until he's almost done.

Run right back down next to him the moment the laser is done, this will get him to do the laser again. With the right timing you can get him stuck in that loop for the entire fight.

Nice, that's a good tip. I'll try that out next time I run in to him.

For one thing, Mom's Heart is a lot easier than Mom. Also in the Womb you usually get Scolex, but in the Depths you might have to fight some bullshit like Monstro II.
That's true. What the hell is up with Scolex anyway. Such a pushover so late in the game.

Party like it's my birthday!

Oh wait, it is my birthday. Happy birthday, me.

The expansion is sounding incredible.

Here's something I've been wondering for a while: Does anyone know why you sometimes spawn right next to a door, and other times in the middle of the room? Is there any significance to your position?

No, im not sure when the trailer will be finished actually. the initial goal was to release it today but shit piled up and ive had to push back the release of the game to late May. sadly i dont have many more updated other than that about it.

the expansion is much bigger than i had expected and im still working out details with steam about release as well as polishing and testing said expansion.

Just played this game for the first time yesterday (apparently I bought it at some point and completely forgot about it). It's real fun and seems I started at the perfect time with the expansion pack news.

During my first playthrough I got the Dead Sea Scrolls in the first dungeon and was curious if that was a really rare drop since I haven't seen it since.

What is the purpose of the other characters? Issac seems like the best choice out of the first two I unlocked (on my 2nd playthrough woo).

Judas is very good. He has low health but his starting item makes boss fights very easy. Also Magdalene is pretty good as well due to higher health.

Starting items.

Cain has Lucky Foot, which makes all pills have positive effects (can be very useful) and generally gets you better stuff. Starting with a key is nice too (he's the "thief").

Maggie has 4 hearts and an item which heals a heart and recharges fairly quickly.

The only character I don't really get is Eve, and maybe ?????? but I haven't unlocked him, and he's obviously a challenge character.

You're lucky that you're just discovering this now!

Most of the items are pretty rare, yes. Have you killed mom yet?

Eve is kind of tough. If you happen to get a source of Soul Hearts, and manage to damage her to half a regular heart (or less) with the Soul Hearts on top, she's pretty beastly.

Man, am I the only one who feels really down playing the game sometimes? I wasn't expecting this game to make me feel so bad about it's characters. Dat epilogue.

Thanks for the info guys. Would Magdalene happen to be the familiar "Maggy" fetus? God, what did I just type out.

I just beat her yesterday!

...and then had horrible things done to me in the womb on the next playthrough. Bosses in every room I went in fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

The game seemed in the mood to give me Technology and Chocolate Milk today, so it seemed as good a time as any to try and finally get Shiol done with Eve and Judas. Success!

Man, the Devil at the end of Shiol is starting to feel way too easy. Can't wait for the expansion.

Not sure if I even need to spoil this...

Eve:
Starts with only 1 Attack Power. But she also gets two items by default: Dead Bird (spawns the bird familiar if you are injured in the room) and the ability that turns you into a demon at 1/2 heart remaining. She's heavy risk-reward because she's basically better with less health.

???:
Has zero regular hearts and 3 soul hearts. Anything that adds real hearts just adds soul hearts. Starts with the most generally useless item in the game. A really difficult character to play as due to this crushing restriction.

Well if the comment on the picture is anything to go by the floor formation in the picture is tied to the "map curse" being tested. We could assume that the map curse being used forms a floor with a multitude more rooms than normal

Also possible is that that floor is something entirely new altogether. You'll notice the floor name is blanked out where it would normally say "Caves I" etc. All speculation at this point of course

Could be! For some reason on first glance I thought the walls were shooting at him and that was the map curse, but I was just seeing his attacks hitting the walls

An announcement just went up on the Steam Golden God achievement group page
Hi Golden Gods!

The first and only DLC for TBOI will be released this month!

It's called Wrath of the Lamb and it adds 4 new chapters, 100+ items and 10 new boss!

The DLC also include a new, challenging, extreme, painful achievement:

The Platinum God!

Are you ready to upgrade your God status? ;)

I wasnt aware of the platinum achievement. This will be fun.

I don't get how you people all manage to get Golden God!
I've been playing for 125+ hours and still have only 43/52 achievements...
Those no-damage achievements are impossible, and I can only beat satan if I found a laser weapon during the game :(

Didn't see this posted yet but from the Steam forums a new Wrath of the Lamb screenshot was posted

See here
Why are you not posting this in the expansion discussion thread, that could use the exposure. :D I bumped it now.

I'd tell you to just keep at it, but you've already logged more hours than I have!

For no damage runs, try to get as much damage output as possible so you can kill enemies before they become a threat to you (ideally with something like Brimstone). Judas is the most damaging character, so try to get it with him. For these specialised achievements, you'll have a hard time "just getting them" while playing the game normally, it helps to really try and form your strategy/choices around them. Like taking a deal with the devil for added damage you usually wouldn't make if you were planning to get to Satan and such.

Satan is all about learning the pattern, once you learn how to bait out his lasers for example, his second form shouldn't be much trouble.

Thankfully you don't need to get the no-damage achievements to get Golden God, so you don't necessarily need to worry about those.

Does anyone know if there is a special condition for the Monster Manual? According to the achievements I unlocked back in November but I have yet to ever see it.

It doesn't show up very often in my experience, but if you've unlocked it, it should be around. I've seen it in Shops, Treasure Rooms, and I think even once in a Devil Room.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
Finally bought this off Steam.. and first reaction was:

This game is stupid.

3 hours later:

One more fucking try!

Pretty cool game, and wow at the subject matter.. some dark places this dude is going.. and holy butthole/poop fetish.
